Sorry to see someone leave. I goto say tho mate i think youre blaming things that you shouldnt tho. Im an Aussie also and run same pings around 250-300 and while not wanting to seem to brag i got a K/D ratio of close to 2. Im retired so i get to play anytime of day so i pug alot during US prime time then join up with an Aussie team in the evenings. Huge team with 400 on Roster but probably only half active, we have lots A class pilots all dealing with the lag. Look if you want to head over to the No Guts No Galaxy TS3 server you will find a heap of ausies there playing in the evenings, come have a look you may learn some stuff and play with guys with the same problems you have.
But anyways mate ping shouldnt be the problem stoping you playing, theres hundreds maybe thousands of players out there with same ping enjoying and exceling in the game.
I can understand exactly what your saying here. The problem isnt so much the size of the ping, its the fact it varies so much which makes it hard to counter.
I play World of Tanks as well, and with over 350ms ping to the NA server i was still able to get a 75% hit ratio and lead my targets quite well. I play on the SEA server now, and the lower 200ish ping is much better, so i can work around ping, its just the random spikes and wavering ping that gets me killed.
Yes part of it is my frustrations at getting dead in 3 seconds from spotting someone, but that is just part of the game - I pressed on and improved as much as i could.
As others have said, there seems to be some more work happening on the code as well as my ISP doing work on the hardware in my area.
Hopefully this will lead to more stable ping times. If it does, ill be back - but for now, ill just keep patching and trying a round or 4 every now and again.
I really do want to enjoy this game...
