seriously PGI, just 1 day after i told you i need an incentive to throw my money at you already, you start bringing out those? ... gonna be an expensive month for me when it comes... :)

if you bring the catapult the month after that, i´ll send all my assasins after you *evil laughter* ...and they will take all your helicopters from you!

That's nice, that doesn't mean an Awesome can take more punishment than an Atlas. It can't statistically, it cannot.

True, but its all down to piloting, a bad pilot in an atlas can be taken down quicker then a good pilot in an awesome :)

they've got to stop letting us use money to buy these faster mechs.

Normally I'd agree but in this case It isn't really an issue. Of all the assaults the AWS is the worst brawler. The size of the chassis makes it easy not just to hit but to target specific sections and punch a hole in the already low armour compared to the other two assaults. AWS work best from range offering fire support in the form of PPCs and LRMS. closing into brawling range with an AWS as strong a move as doing so with an AS7 or STK which pack more armour and a stronger alpha respectively.

Not that there isn't an advantage to being able to reposition quickly while offering fire support. Thankfully the average player doesn't think about the role of their mech beyond "I'ma shoot things!" so very few people of the already small portion of people that buy hero mechs will use the speed for anything other than getting themselves killed first.

You are right in this, the ATLAS had 20% more armor than any other assault mech at this time of configured normally after current variants.
A goodpilot can take any mech and do a good job but frankly the awesome is a useless can regardless fancy paintjob if you ask me. Give us a ATLAS instead!!!

I have to say, if this were an atlas I would be more concerned, as a Speed-las (stupidly up-engined) atlas driver, I fear no awesome, besides those jerks that fit effing 7 MPLs on the 8Q, those things truly scare me...

The problem is the maps are so small that speed and range don't really factor in. All that matters is how good your team is at brawling and how many ECM mechs you have.

Not thrilled with the fact that it's a 8V but with a bigger max engine for real money...

Sorta meh on this. Adam Steiner's Awesome might have lured me into getting into Awesomes since I have a soft spot for the cartoon. On the upside, at least they're taking a character from the books and trying to mould the mech around them rather than just creating their own again.

Totally disagree. Also, ECM only matters if you try and brawl soooo....

I can't stand all the awesome hate anymore.

From now on I declare: For everyone who dies by the hand of my mighty AWS-8R I will write "You've been punished by an Awesome!"

And trust me, I kill A LOT in my awesome. You will be so nerved out by me spamming this sentence that you will never ever write again how bad the awesome is. Muaahahhaaa

See, the flames painted on it help it go faster.

Seriously, is this a Battlemech or a Harley Davidson? Does piloting it change your avatar to a fat man in leather with a giant beard and bandana? Do this Awesome's pilots have a diet exclusively of pancakes and beer? Will the entire battlefield be filled with the deafening revving of engines?

What the **** is this?!!

Hoping the tube arm or chest energy mount provides 2 energy slots.

Having missile points is great, but I'm not sure I want to SRM brawl with an XL engine and a giant chest. Let me hang back and sling energy on the other hand and I'll like it just fine.

I dunno it doesn't look big enough to be a missile launcher. Looks more like another energy weapon if you ask me.

The picture on the front page made me think that the left arm contains no less than four energy slots. 4 x ML possibly?

Sadly, Awesome hate is pretty easy. Its like hating on the Dragon. When you're not in one, you've got no idea what the pilot is going through to make things work. You just sit back, lazily fire, and know tha tyou're going to hit.

Now then, when you hop in one of those two, you all of a sudden realize what is going on. The Awesome 8 series is slow, handles like a pig, takes forever to stop, start, and turn, and you've got to have the agility of an explosives ordinance expert to make it work without having everything torn off of you. Everyone else gets to derp along in their over gunned Stalker or their ECM phantom D-DCs brimming with ballistics.
