I wouldn't be caught dead running around in a mech called Pretty Baby!
WTF are the devs smoking lately? Pretty Baby? Seriously? Now if its a cannon name then ok but something tells me there is no cannon hero mech called Pretty Baby.
Not to mention they need to make the game "WORK" Before they keep adding this extra **** to the game.
A good 1/3 people after the newest patch have black screens to Mech lab bug Weapon firing is still off on Ballistics etc. This game should have never gone open beta yet. Content should be put on the back burner until the game works correctly and more importantly STABLE!!!
The warping has improved 10 fold. It's everything else that is still screwed.
actually, TRO 3025, Danielle Peterson, pilots an Awesome she hsas called..... "Pretty Baby".

Except it is a canon name. Tough.
And it's always amusing to see people crying about it no longer being beta because you can buy stuff. Well, suck it up, things have changed, now you CAN buy something in a beta. I don't know in what world you live where you call a game like this launched after only just over a year's worth of development, that is the game was just scribbled notes on paper in late 2011, with just a smidgeon of content and constantly changing weapon balance, gear balance, items, introductions of things and whatever else, at a pace that would not at all be common in an actual launched game. But blather on, why do you even bother? Just go away and come back in 2 years' time when the game has had the normal development time of games with a similar skope. THEN you can whine about missing this or that. But now? Now you can't whine, you can make suggestions, help test and whatever else, and if you like to play you can pay some money and have fun in more varied ways. Or you can, you know, not do it, because it's your money and you can vote with your wallet.

If it's really 6000 MC, that's going to be a "no". That's almost 30 dollars for a single mech.
I love this game, but PGI needs to work on their price points a little bit. Hopefully they're getting plenty of data about pricing during this open beta.
I'd consider it for 2700 MC. That's the 3000 MC package, 2700 for the mech, and 300 for a mechbay for it.
Maybe they should consider capping the prices of hero mechs, so that the assaults are not astronomically expensive.
On a positive note, I do really like how it has a variety of hardpoints, and it looks like it should have a good variety of viable builds for it. This was my major complaint with the YLW, it was a good machine, but there were only a handful of things you could do with the chassis.
If anything, I wish Assaults, which are supposedly uber rare, were MORE expensive so we saw less of them.

I wonder how long it takes the devs to realize not everyone who plays this game is a millionaire. None of the MC prices for anything has been attractive, they should be trying to do microtransactions but instead they want you to shell out more money then it costs for most actual games.

I wouldn't really describe it as selling content, mostly because you can get pretty darn similar Awesomes without spending real cash, they get a c-bill bonus and a custom skin. They arn't a big developer and they don't have a publisher with deep pockets they need to make money to pay the bills and I would much rather they make it via 'hero mechs' rather than things like gold ammo or an monthly subscription. A game that charges a monthly subscription I don't feel could claim to be in beta, because then you really are paying for content.
To the people complaining about the price, its not completely unreasonable in a f2p structure. This business model is sometimes described as whale hunting. Basically f2p games don't really make any money off of the majority of the players but they make tons of money off of a small percentage. You could argue that they should maybe go for more of a microtransaction market where they have a huge number of cheap items that almost everyone is encouraged (or forced) to buy.

My only knock on having the Raiders insignia.. is there are going to be no canon units represented in MWO (supposedly) so ... why do I want to drag someone elses unit insignia around with me? BAd enough I have to drag around the paint jobs I can't change.

I think all the Hero Mechs should have a Flat Rate. Perhaps $15.00 since every class has an advantage. Especially when light mechs can take down mechs heavier mechs than themselves. Each mech has a certain playstyle and requires different tactics so technically the cost for a Hero Mech should never change if we are keeping to role warfare. The only Hero Mechs I'd maybe increase the cost to $20.00 would be those with specialized equipment such as ECM.

I guess we will just have to wait to find out if it can fit large XL engines compared to the normal variants just like the Raven 3L/Cent D/Aws 9m can or if its just a normal mech with a larger stock engine.

2E RA (PPC on stock)
2M RT (LRM15 on stock)
1M LA (SRM4 on stock)
2E LA (LLS on stock)
1E H (MLS on stock)
For a total of 61 firepower and a sustained DPS of atleast 7.5+ given the large heat efficiency. An XL340 should power it with atleast 20 DHS and 360LRM's and 100 SRM's.
Cost around 6k MC, so $27 or like £20 (for me)
And with that shocking paint scheme would you buy one? ... I wouldn't !
All Awesomes so far have 7 useable hard points. So I assume you are almost spot on but there will be no missle in the LA.
It surely wont have 3 missle in the RT because that would make the 8V obsolete.

Hey Squirrel, I might have misread your post, but look at this:

I would say that there will indeed be a missile hardpoint in the left arm.

The "making a mech obsolete" would not be a barrier IMHO, the main point of the hero is the 30% cbill bonus generally. Where a hero conflicts with an existing mech, the precedent is to kill the existing mech (Cent-9AH died to the Yen Lo). Although I would hope PGI would refrain from removing further mechs as a matter of principle.
And yeah, I'm still annoyed at the removal of the Centurion AH.
