During the Second and Third Succession War Geifer and its vast library were heavily damaged by bombing runs. The Capellan Institute of Lingustics (founded in 2978) has proved a boon for the Capellan diplomatic service and the Maskirovka. Diplomats trained here are skilled in how their opposite numbers think, based on writings from their homeworlds. The Maskirova has also cracked numerous codes and translated foreign documents with resources from the Institute. Beyond all that, the Institute is one of the few universities that survived the Succession Wars.
Geifer is also home to the "Geifer Pachy", an elephant like creature that is about the size of a Terran ox. In fact many of the tenant farmers on Geifer's western continent use the Pachy in the same way an ancient Terran farmer would use an ox.

Well, maybe someone just played around with matches...
We had an earthquake on Helm, back in 3028. A whole lake disappeared, after a mech battle between the 5th Marik Guards and the GDL. I met someone from there, and he told me that ComStar had its fingers in it...and Kurita.
There are more nutcases in the IS than just the Liaos.
