Obviously this is an issue that has to do with the latest Netcode changes.

Bad matchmaking happens. Gaus is a sniper and hard to aim when you're moving yourself.

Seen this too. Usually happens when the other five are already shot down quite a bit and in addition can't aim for ****. Or when the one is a lagshielded light mech.

It's called Headshot. Most armor on a cockpit is 18. Get through that and you most likely crit klill them. So any shot that does more than 18 damage and hits the cockpit is able to kill the mech right away. There are people that can aim that good. Just deal with it like I do.

5) People that know where you are, always.

It's called situational awareness. Others can spot you, not just your follower, so your triangle stays on the map and your follower can ... well ... keep following. Also when you know the maps you know there's only so many ways to run and places to go. Not hard to make educated guesses on what way your target went to get away.

Also keep in mind they can see you in thermal vision much farther out than they can target you.

And keep in mind that some can even see you from distances where you cant see them..depending on graphics settings, your hardware and your own eyesight :D I often get shot at by PPC bursts "out of nothing", the shot seems to come from a totally empty spot in the distance, simply because on very low graphics settings the firing mech isnt displayed at all or its heat signature is so pale and small, that you dont have a chance to hit it. Still, this guy manages to see me AND hit my torso center...on every shot...jesus christ...i move out of cover, he hits me in the center torso...i go back...i go out again...bam...next hit...I stay out of cover...i die by another two hits...stupid to try this, sure...u have to find another way...but it should just show how "unfair" playing conditions can be within the same game... bad if you cant rely on a team that will go around the sniper, suppress him, shoot missiles at him, send out 2 ravens or similar...

that is a glitch not cheating. it just happens, hell in the right mech you could shoot off your own leg when that happens.

true, my skill is really bad. if others can kill with a double UA5 in seconds, and i cant, its my problem. unless annoying things like netcode, lag and playing on lowest graphics settings adds to it. i just cant spend 1.000 for a hyper machine giving me ultra resolution and graphics where i can ppc sniper over half the map. so i am doomed to get snipered like that by an enemy i just cant even see, because my computer cant handle it. not PGIs fault, but still not satisfying.

hm, recommending end game content like modules is probably not a fair advice for beginners, huh?

i am sure that seperating PUG from premades would make a difference. i would like to know how many regular PUG players believe that premades' advantages are not unbalancing matches at all... I play 10-20 PUG games a day, since November. when i play on a premade team, the chance to win increases drastically, even with me being such a bad aim and not much help, unless you encounter another premade team - then it all depends on the level of teamplay and training of each team.

PUGs are good at improvising, but always on their own. Its pure luck if your ECM comrades give you cover/disrupt so you can use missiles or if someone helps you get an enemy Raven off your back. You cant even cry for help, using the chat tool will kill you in any fight. The whole game has been layed out for team/premade which is fine. U cant argue, that PUGs on average have the same chances of winning as premades have. Individual games can run differently, a PUG team can win by causing chaos and confusion through their erratic actions alone, even against a premade team. But that is pure luck, not skill/not tactics/not fun.

Why don't you coordinate your PUG drop?

There is nothing unfair in the situations you described, if you don't have the hardware required to the run game at less then the lowest settings, that's on you, no one else. Did you try to ask your teammates to do something about the sniper you couldn't see? Or did you just assume they would automagically come to your rescue without having any idea that you needed help?

I'm really happy when I get a team that will let me do this. Probably helps that I do have the graphics up that high that I can tell the difference between an Awesome and Centurion all the way across the map.

I do have the hardware to run it on low settings. I would expect to have very ugly textures and stuff, but not that mechs go invisible at certain ranges, where others can still see and kill me...maybe thats nothing PGI can do anything about, so yeah...

Playing LRM catapults i tried to ask for some backup in the beginning of a match, I call for help when I get sneaked by 3 Ravens, you know what? In 8 out of 10 matches no one comes to your help. and calling for help via chat tool, while trying to escape/fight off 3 circling ravens...ha ha...show me how...by now I never use my LRM catapults anymore...hope you dont say its my lack of skill here...PGI broke the LRM support mechs below Stalker. nobody is playing them anymore, those who do die right before your eyes.

Yes, I tried to take command, yes I tried to make suggestions for a plan, sometimes it even works, people actually listen to you. That's if you sit in an ECM Atlas, then people start following you like lemmings. Most PUG players simply don't want to play team game...not in the way this game actually demands...

It would just be sad to see this game become another sniper hell dominated by hardcore nerds running ultra-gaming computers. Fortunately, I think we are still far from that...

If a game is only for the hardcore gamers with big machines, so be it...I left EVE online just for that reason. The game took away too much money and time and delivered nice graphics only of you ran a state-of-the-art PC. I have a hard underpaid job and a family, so I slightly fall out of the prototype gamer target group for that... maybe I should quit my job and try to get a better gaming pc from social welfare... but it's just a game, so I'll enjoy what I can, no one needs something like this at all... so it's actually not worth to get all excited over it...

edit: yes, there is irony in what I say here...

well i guess i'm the only one to blame for running XL engine in my AWS-8R. but i like the speed and weight so i'm sticking to it

I got accused of cheating today and I'm incredibly flattered. I've been trying to learn to pilot a Jenner. Normally I go Atlas and love it but the Jenner is a good change.

The problem is that I really suck on ice in an Jenner. No, seriously. It's made me a better Atlas pilot no question - I fight better against lights in that tubby beast. I am pretty bad in the Jenner though.

I do however get lucky. I caught an Atlas stomping up low town in River City all by his lonesome and put 6xMLs in his back, then prepared to run off.... but he didn't seem to notice. So I did it again. WITH FEELING. He slowly starts to swivel so I drift to stay in his back and he just holds there. So I did it again. Somewhere in there someone popped off an AC round into him as well. I put a 4th burst into his back and he pops, cored from behind with almost no damage anywhere else.

Then the accusations started that I cheated. He said I must have a 'super Jenner' to have killed him 'so quickly'.

To whoever that was, thank you. I've got to be something like 0.3 KDR in that Jenner and in half my matches don't even hit 150 damage, many less than 100. That someone thought I was so bada** that I must be cheating.... well, my ego needed the pep-up. Thank you.

As an aside I wonder how many accusations of cheating are just not paying attention. I can't say I've ever seen something I would call cheating. A couple of instances that may have been bots but no cheating. When in doubt though, report it.

I've played countless games and I've only seen a handful of questionable things and all of them could simply be luck or very skilled players. I have seen a few mechs that I think might be botting simply because they do some completely stupid things but it could have been completely new players or someone who was distracted.
