Man you probably forgot to add up all the armor in the CT. I'd do that like this:
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...c3ee52c9100958f
Ammo in the arms should go off first, but since I tend to tank with the arms no matter what's in there, I prefer to have less armor in the legs and bring a case.
However I'd go around with something like this:

The Ilya can do this better (more speed with a 280 or 300 xl), if I didn't already owned it.. I'd take a 4x and drive it like this

Grind your XP and then sell this poor mans assault mech.
the lack of armor and the lack of speed - this isn't a mech it's a coffin.
Some mount dual gauss...when mount in the arms you get a good field of fire.
But still to slow.

Dual gauss is nice, but a tight fit with a standard engine. XL's give up the zombie.
I put ammo in the arms since the CTF is one chassis that has arms that sit lower than its torsos. You cannot completely shield your side torsos by twisting into opponents with this mech, but it certainly doesn't hurt to try. I did place a few things erroneously in the link. There should be one ton in the LA, and two in the RA. This way after the first 8 salvos I can use my left side to twist into shots without fear of ammo explosions. I didn't alter the armor in smurfys at all. Max armor is just too easy a function to use. Dropping leg armor to 35 is just scary to me. I know they're tiny little chicken things, but they're chock full of ammo that'll be there till your dregs run out.

You can stuff 2 pairs of AC2 in there.

Forget about DPS - your mech will overheat - before you are able to run the AC 2 as effective as the AC 10.
When your enemy doesn't move AC 2 may work - but only then.
since the kinetic impact of AC 2 was reduced - they are not as effective as they were once.

If you can't manage even that kind of heat I doubt if you should be playing MWO. If you can't manage the aiming I doubt if you should be playing any FPS.

strong words little guy...
well did you concidered that your dps need 2.5 secs to deal the same damage a dual gauss will deal in a single moment?
did you concidered that your dps need 1.5 sec to deal the same damage of a dual AC 10.
did you conciderd that your enemy will just pop up - deliver his payload and dive for cover?
To say it clear...a AC 2 does 2 damage per 1 heat point...does this sound good?
DPS says nothing, Alpha says nothing ,too.
What you should really consider is the window (time) of attack.

Did you consider (grammar/spelling **** module offline) the 2.5 second cooldown of AC10, during which a quad-AC2 could deal 20 damage?
Do you really think you could overheat that easily with 15DHS, which my 4X carries?
If you wanna deal pinpoint peekaboo-suppressing damage, why not just get a pair of gauss? And if you wanna do that, why not just get a Muromet, who has a higher engine cap?

2xAC2 2xUAC5 2ML,ferro, DHS(low on ammo, not very heat effiecient)
or
4x AC5, 2ML, SSRM2 , XL eng, ferro,DHS
PS. I own all 5 CTF chasis, 4x is mine 2nd favorite now with the 4AC5 build and XL 240 ... The best one for me is 3d with 2 UAC5

Your point is good, but still I prefer to have them up cased (with std engines such as this) in a torso rather than in the arms. De gustibus
Xl's of course give up a lot of things usage of such a kind of engine isn't suited for front line combat for sure.

Yes, but still a 4X should be used (as in both the discussed configs) as a direct fire support from medium to long range.
By this half of the time you'll keep popping up and down from cover, so legs *should* be safe and 35 points are enough even for a lucky dual gauss shot. By the time something closes up you may already have torsoes or CT with some damage and the enemy will focus there rather than on your legs, and when you close up you should be running them mostly empty so..
