Using kdr is a bad idea. It's all over the map because it depends on your team performance too much. You rarely ever die with a good pug stomping team.

Here's my humble suggestion. Use kills done over total games played by taking kills and dividing by sum of wins and losses.

Is the guy that rides his teams coattails for 2 easy kills each match and rarely dies for like a 20:1 kdr really that much better than the solo pug that gets the only 2 kills on his team before getting focused down by the other 6 mechs? He has a 2:1 kdr and your stat puts them in a whole different range by leaps and bounds. Using kills per game played is way more accurate. The team player still has a big advantage because he lives for the whole match 90% of the time so he has more opportunity for kills, but he has to compete against the other good players on his team for those kills per match.

Let me know if that makes more sense to you as well. Seems a no brainer to me.

I already covered this possibility in a previous post. Kills per match is really a pointless comparison in my opinion.

According to your stat wouldn't someone with a 5.0kdr that only gets one kill every other match and only dies one in 10 matches be ranked WAY higher than the guy that just pugs and doesn't hide behind his team and kills 2 per match but is on the losing team so dies.

I would take the guy that manages 2 kills per round in a much more difficult environment over the guy the sneaks a kill from behind his team once every two rounds.

Then again I'm not sure what the hc stat represents. If its a pug stomping score or ability to roll with the winning team then I suppose it makes sense, but I think kdr tells us this already. I will take the player that consistently kills the most enemies every match regardless of who he's teamed with, that is a reflection of individual skill.

Maybe this isn't the right thread for finding the best stat to indicate individual skill though, in which case please carry on.

(939 Kills * 1.13 ratio) / 610 Losses = 1.74 HC

I'm a sniper... I don't alpha like crazy and I pick my shots... with most people closing what I open up
This seems a bit lopsided where my "personal skill" of accuracy, timing and teamwork are superseded by CRAZY ALPHA and HC's definition of "Personal Skill".

4231 Kills x 15.85 K/d = 67061.35 / 205 losses = 327

I think 64 is kinda low for a max.

As soon as you expand it out you'll see your bell curve dissolve into a sand dune, as would be expected in a flawed statistical analysis

(652*0.67)/973 = 0.45 (PUG gaming)

That's a funny result so far. To me it only shows that either most people with a negative KDR do not participate or that people that don't write in forums are on the receiving end.

You know, there can't be more kills than people get killed so in a representative vote the Number of votes for 0-1 must be as big as the sum of all the other votes :) :P

Not sure where you get that from if all I do is expand from just 64+ to 64-128 and 128+. All that is going to do is split the current 24 in the 64+ rank into 2 ranks.

A stat I heard from devs of another game was that somewhere between 5-10% of their player base read the forums, and something like only 2% of their player base posted.

I suspect due to the smaller crowd in MWO the percentages are higher here, but you are absolutely right that the vast majority of players (the casual, unwashed masses) don't post here. Those guys are the ones who are doing less than 100 damage a match in their assault mechs, and allowing the rest of us to pad our scores.

If nobody's noticed this yet, this poll is to find out who sync drops as even with a 4man team there's a fair chance you'll lose due to 4 pugs being brainless. Enjoy your epeen.

Oh, and you all blindly answered like sheep, gj.

4man 3man 2man or On my own I still do exceptionally well and at the top. When I Pug I have a good time and still win more often then not. I've lost to a good double 4 man or a 8 man sync drop but I still manage to take a couple out when that happens and we all cheer at the end. Its all in good fun. I like the challenge and for the most part I kno most of the 4/8 man teams on the TS so we all laugh about it later.

PS: I think most people on my Friends list will have the Highest ELO. It'll be like Closed beta again w00t!

Here is part of my thinking...

Let's say you have a unit.
You have a relatively new player that you are working with.
You have a relatively stable set of criteria that you are looking for for a player in your unit.
How do you answer the question when that relatively new player wants to know how they stand with the greater community of players.
If you are stumped for answers beyond your unit's criteria you can say "go to this forum and see where you are"
If anything this will give players a place or an objective to work towards at their individual level of play.

Will it work? Dunno
Is it necessary? Dunno
Is anyone else doing anything like this? no?
