Another big patch coming our way this week, be prepared for a long downtime and a long patch time.

Some things to please bear in mind:

Server downtime should begin around Tuesday 10 am PST (1pm EST, 6 pm GMT)

Server downtime typically lasts about 2-3 hours. Forums will be down/unstable during this downtime. You may not be able to login.

Patch deployment comes after the downtime (approx 1pm PST, 4 pm EST, 9pm GMT)

Patch notes are typically not delivered until the patch deployment phase.

Patch Notes will be available here when they are ready:

http://mwomercs.com/game/patch-notes

Currently announced for inclusion on the Feb 5th Patch:

Note that PPC vs ECM and sensor range modules vs eCM is slated for the 19th even though it's in the same post as the large energy weapon buff. Note that MG and Flamer buff is being held back by Crit system issues.

This is an educational thread written to provide one-stop-shopping for upcoming updates. Let's stay on topic and leave complaints about individual items to their respective threads and/or the patch feedback section.

All information based on published material, sources cited where applicable. Not endorsed by PGI/IGP.

Let's not forget Thomas D's:

http://mwomercs.com/...ost__p__1758556

-Advance Zoom would stay on after you die. [Resolved]
-Getting hit by lasers and ballistics at the same time would not cause a screen shake. [Resolved]
-Sound crackling caused by too many Missiles playing trail sound effects [Resolved]
-Trace weapons draw a incorrectly oriented (skewed) decal on slanted terrain [Resolved]

and of course the all important:

ear Components Damage Transfer Bug [Resolved]

http://mwomercs.com/...ost__p__1770322

BUG : When rear armor is gone, less damage than should be would be transferred to the front components. And if Arms and side torsos were already destroyed less of the damage that hit the destroyed component locations would transfer into the center torso.

NOTES : Thanks to the community (http://mwomercs.com/...w-in-this-patch) we were able to track down a pretty major issue. Less damage was being taken in the back essentially what this works out to with explosive weapons. And too much with lasers. We were able to fix the bug quickly once we found it, but it will take a while to see if our weapon balancing was based on bad results.

Also this issue has been there since the damage systems initial development.

DURATION : 2h

ESTIMATED PATCH : Mid-Late February (Feb 5th 90%)

All solid "resolves, but for battlefield testing... not so much. ^_^

Have never died to a dead Mech with AZ left on.

The lack of screen shake was actually a good thing. Now the whole getting hit simultaneously by lasers and ballistics, not so much. :)

-Sound crackling caused by too many Missiles playing trail sound effects [Resolved]

Totally depended on whether said Missiles were Outgoing, or Incoming...

Come on Patchy!...

-Trace weapons draw a incorrectly oriented (skewed) decal on slanted terrain [Resolved]

If I am reading it correctly. A shot that missed my Mech had a bad Trace draw on the slanted terrain decal it hit behind me... Woohoo! Missed meeeee!. (I do believe I have seen this. I call them "ricochets" myself) B)

Unfortunately, it looks like it will be a while before this gets implemented. I know whining about it wont make it come any faster, but I'm pretty frustrated with how long it's taking to improve machine guns.

There are several lighter mechs out there that are seriously underpowered because they have ballistic hardpoints, but they don't have the tonnage. Spider 5K, Raven 4x, and the Cicada 3C are essentially in limbo until machine guns become viable. Several of the Centurian and Hunchback variants could be greatly amplified by a low-tonnage ballistic weapon.

I wish they would just throw in a place holder damage buff and remove it once crit changes are done. Just double it's damage for now. It's a machine gun with 90 range and 0.4 DPS. You're not going to break the game by doubling the DPS.

I'm really glad this happened for two reasons:

1. Perma patterns and colors are excellent.

2. They've listened to the community <= this is much more important than all the tweaks in the world (in my opinion). Thanks guys, as a token of my gratitude I'm off to buy more MCs to spend because you deserved it.

I was looking forward to seeing the trench bucket early...
Guess i will have to wait...

Paint stuff looks great tho!!!

Any chance that along with MC refund (spent on paints already) that we will get a C-Bill refund for paints too?
If so, I could probably buy another mech or 2, lol!!!

Rampant QQ'ing about PPC's being OP begins at ~ 2100 hours GMT tomorrow :D

Otherwise, this is an excellent set of pre-patch notes, particularly the reinvention of the paint scheme purchasing system. Excellent!
