Its great to see a whole bunch new stuff being released into the game, but am I the only one worried that all this "new tech" is just gonna spill out and de-sync with the timeline? In multiplayer battletech, some of the best servers are restricted by time line technology, which really lets some aspect shine thru that are lost with improved technology. I just hope we can experience this without having XL engine, double heat sink, and endo steel everywhere just as soon as open beta arrives. Obviously if they do want to release the op line tech asap, the best solution would be to increase it value by rarity, then to have it slowly devalue as it becomes more common in the timeline in order to limit its influence.

A couple things I suggest:

1) Full Ultra AC spectrum, Full LBX spectrum and alternative ammo's should be released simultaneously as to reduce the chances of a sudden player base shift in types of autocannons used.

2) Double Heat sinks should be introduced well before ER weaponry, as to not cause a massive shift in energy ranges.

3) Consider introducing inferior tech, rifles, rockets, etc, with new tech as inferior tech will provide a c-bill advantage and still be "fresh" content.

4) Do not introduce alternative ammo types 1, by 1, as it will cause a shift and tiring of their usage without cross competition of other ammo types.

5) Always have the creative director make the final call before any marketing people, as the marketers for their jobs sake will be interested in a short term profit more then the long term health of the game. "Unbalanced premium content, OP items releases, ADHD timeline tech release, etc."

I have a feeling that they're going to accelerate their real-time timeline post 3052, especially post-Tukkayid. Unless they go into Full Sequel Mode and release the FedCom Civil War as a completely different game.

Maybe there could be a bare-bones match mode where all mech loadouts are accurrate to the time frame?

Other than that, I say this tech-timeline boost will give the Inner Sphere a better chance against Clan tech.

In the future it might be nice to have say, Level 1, Level 2, Level 3 tech restrictions, but I only see this really happening if users are able to host or rent their own servers or something such as.

I would like things like alternate autocannon ammo turning up earlier, but things like clan tech and mech types can await their turn.

That said I like the idea of older things being available to even the odds more than new things coming early. Things like giving the IS mechs the option of ye olde corrosive heatsinks at the cost of a significantly increased repair bill to even the odds against the clan mechs.

I really hope you are right ManDaisy

From what I've read of the bio's and developer diaries these guy's look like they are going to follow the time line as accurately as possible and keep the game play in mind at all times. It's one of the few times in a game release where I think that both aspects dovetail very well together.

I really want to see how they handle the clan invasion once we have all spent a good 5 to 9 months with the current set of tech.

Meh. Let's have faith that they'll do it right - they have access to all of the sourcebooks(and probably more) than we do. And they probably know a thing or two about game balancing as well.

tl;dr hold off on the pitchforks until after beta
