I tend to get around 500+ damage in my AS7-K with 3 large lasers and a gauss. After quite a bit of practice, I tend to get some good faraway shots with it, and I have plenty of time to get in hits before the enemy team starts retaliating. The only time I've gotten over 1000 is when everyone else on my team died, and I ended up getting 7 kills (7 because of one disconnect).

i've gotten over 1k damage in my gausscat about half a dozen times in the last week, and about the same with a 4LL+gauss atlas RS. i think, for example, if you blow off a side torso, when you see the "component destroyed" for both the torso and the ipsilateral arm, i think the game is giving you damage for the arm being destroyed. maybe. same thing with when you core someone, but on top of getting "<blah> has killed <blah>", you also get 4 component destroyed messages

i know before they added DHS and the like, when my gausscat didn't carry lasers at all, i would sometimes get damage done higher than theoretically possible given my ammo consumption, even if i hit with every single shot at close enough range to do full damage

Those aimbots dont necessary have to head shot you for someone to be using them. If you watch the videos they aim for the center torso. So alot of these suggestions are moot. The only way to tell is from someone watching them via death camara. If they pratically never miss, they might be guilty.

This is why I hope PGI is able to implement some type of anti cheat codes, and If I had my wish, it would turn them all into an Urban Mech during the match. That would be funny as all get out!

In other games that had punkbuster to curltail the cheating, the cheaters would be turned into a chicken...

I haven't seen any evidence of aimbots. I was actually in a match earlier with my gauss Dragon and just COULD NOT miss a shot. I don't know what it was, but my aim was true and things were happening for me. Nothing fishy was going on, no snappy reticles or anything that would make me think even a bug was going on. I was just really spot-on with my shots.

I suck with gauss. I have very little experience with ballistics weapons. There are, however, people that play ballistics a lot more and have a lot more practice than I do. Those are the people I really fear. Ballistics weapons can be absolutely devastating in the hands of a skilled pilot. I am getting better at it and I can see where some people could be absolutely beast with it. I know I've been on the wrong end of one of those pilots' barrages more than once saying "OHSHITOHSHITOHSHIT! Where's the nearest cover?!?!!?"

Hmm, while it can be difficult to tell if the person you are spec'ing is hacking if they are careful about it, there are some things to consider.

This game doesn't seem to have anything in place for the detection of hacks.

Hacks will be limited in nature since there are things that can't be changed client side without it being picked up/corrected server side. Aim bots, unfortunately, are one of those things that won't be picked up.

There was a sudden availability in aim bots (a website to one was even mentioned in a post on these forums) which there was then a sudden skill increase in individuals using point projectile weapons. I doubt very much that it was a coincidence.

Someone with 1100 damage isn't using an aim hack. Someone with 8 kills and 200 damage is definitely an aim hack.

Possibly an aim hack. It is also possible that the person is a great opportunist with good aim and an AC type weapon or a cowardly opportunist who let the other team members NEARLY destroy the opposition before delivering the finishing blow.

I've found that I often will have higher kill/damage counts when running my Centurion with an AC5. I like to focus on a specifc armor panel because I'm not going to do much splash damage.

in my ac20 cat i generally will get 200-300 damage 3+ kills. so am i hacking because i can hit a cockpit of stupid pilots who stand stil?
