I was having game freezes with this patch but putting vsync on and limiting my FPS to 60 seems to do the trick. No freezes since I put it on.

Yes, FPS limit has worked and is the solution to the game freeze.

Edit your user.cfg in MWO root directory
Type in sys_MaxFPS = 60

enjoy without crashing.

Well done to the early guys who found this fix. Everyone and especially Piranha thanks you!

Cheers
Capo

Ever since the last patch on 5 February 2013 I have been having one major issue. At random times my client freezes up. I do the control - alt - delete and task manager says the Mech Warrior Online has stopped responding. I never had this issue prior to the patch. On the other hand, I have not had any of the other hud / yellow screen bugs happen to me. Any help on this issue would be nice. I am running a AMD Radeon HD 6800 Series with 743mb memory.

3 CTD's in a row.. all happend right after start of match.. i'd say prolly about 10 seconds after mech power up..

I've been having GFX lockups and studders with this patch but now it's just plain crashing to the desktop...

both the latest nvida release and beta driver have been used and both have GFX lockups.. tho the CTD is on the release driver.

I get no errors from MWO but windows pops up a driver crashed error now and then..

phenom X4 555 black cpu. 8 GB ram, Nvida gts 450 gfx.

edit
ok 5 CTD's in a row now.. fps limit workaround not working for me.

Can also confirm that using v-sync has at the very least reduced the game freezing. Noticed before that GPU usage was spiking up to 100%, with v-sync on nothing over 80%. Played probably around 10-12 matches last night with no freezes. Will play a few more tonight with the frame limiter in the user config as well.

Could be coincidental but it also seems to have reduced or eliminated the texture bug on Frozen City. Used to get that probably 2 out of three matches. Not once last night.

it seems very inconsistant :) The FPS limit to 60 seemed to be going ok for me but now I have had crashes again. Something that can happen also is people getting freeze's at the same time as each other.

V-sync works for those have monitor has 60hz max fps. If you have an Uber monitor, you might have to limit the fps by User.cfg file.

You can track your fps by press f9 in game.

I've got some game freezes too, but i never would have thought the reason could be that my game runs too fast ^_^
With my Radeon 4850 the game did not run really smooth until the latest patch, since we can now completely disable shadows etc.

I play on lowest specs on 720p which gives me 60+ FPS most of the time. Will try the limiter now.

Ya I'm hooked up to a 44" Sony Bravia TV so it's running 60 Hz. I've been tracking everything (fps, temps, usage etc...) with MSI afterburner.

Jeye, have you tried wiping your cache as well? I just remembered that I did that just prior to trying the v-sync thing. Maybe it was a combination of both that helped me. Mind you I've only tested it for one evening successfully. Time will tell I suppose.

Well, it returned even though I have vsync on and FPS limited to 60. Few days of crash free gaming, now it freezes but ingame sounds keep playing. When ctrl + alt + del and to task manager the game for some reason starts working again. Don't have to exit it, just keep playing.

Guess I'll try the user.cfg fps limiting next.

I've been playing for a couple of hours and have had 4 crashes, either CTD or freezes. Usually mid game (like, always when we're winning! :-) ).
No obvious connections, just always during actual game play.
Much worse this patch than before.

For the second morning in a row I cannot stay in game. This started on Sat, It was fine before Saturday, but now I rubberband all over the place, and eventually just crash out with no error. First it will just close the match and take me back to mech bay. Then I will loose connection to the sever, or I get ...
The session is lost. I ask where the hell did it go ??

For now the game is unplayable for me.

6gb Ram
invidia GTX 570
Geforce driver 310.90
win7 64 bit ...

FPS limiter solution APPEARS to have fixed the problem so far. Now it's just the usual crashes at end of match and crap but that's not as big of a deal.

I never thought I'd see the day when the problem is my computer is too GOOD for a CryTek game.

The 45 fps limiter (good for 85hz monitor) is still working well for me, not a single crash yet.

I also deleted (actually cut / paste to other location, just in case) the cache folder (mechwarrior online/user/shaders) for good measure.

and I'm not sure why but my ingame framerate is 48

Setting Vsync on stopped my crashes so far today. I would crash constantly with it off.

Crashing constantly, every 3 matches or so. FPS limiting and V-sync do not resolve. Happening VERY often since last patch.
