i cannot say what you did with this patch but my performance is worse than ever :(
it doesn't matter which map i play, the framerate drops to 18-23fps once things get rolling. before the patch at least "forest colony" (and snow variant) was playable at 30fps. i posted many times about performance issues in the last patches. ever since open beta my fps dropped from a nice and steady 60fps max. down to this. why is my performance so much more worse than before?

also i posted my system specs many times (i was also in closed beta).
other friends that run a ATI graphics cards have the same problem with the framerate. also the client seems to heat up/put heavy load on my GPU even in the main menu screen (where really nothing is happening.

sorry for my bad english

Win 7 64bit
Intel Q9550 @3,5GHz
8GB RAM
ATI HD5770 1GB @ 860MHz Clock ; 1200MHz Memory

I'm having about the same problem. I was getting a solid 27~30FPS, and now i'm averaging about 18~20. I don't have an ATI card, but I'm getting a similar performance drop. My frame rate is about the same in the menus, hovering around 55~60. It seems that when more things appear on screen or when things are moving quickly, it gets worse. I was spectating a light mech at one point and I dropped to 10~14 frames. It had about 3-4 enemy mechs in it's view, but I haven't seen such a harsh drop in the past.

I am playing on an ASUS G74s gaming laptop, and it has
-Windows 7 64bit
-intel i7 2.2Ghz
-12GB RAM
-Nvidia 560M @ 775 Clock

Tell whoever coded up the new patch that I love them. Went from about 30-40 fps on everything lowest or off at 1280x720 to 25-35 fps with everything lowest except textures on medium, and 1920x1080. The game looks waaaaay better, and plays better to boot. I get a solid 50-60 with my old settings now.

Specs:
Win XP SP3
Core 2 Duo E8400 @3ghz
4gb ram (3 addressable, 32 bit)
Radeon HD 4850

It's very odd, I only noticed this starting today but whenever a Mech dies my FPS will sink like a rock for a few seconds and then shore back up again.

When I first joined MWO back at the beginning of the open beta, I was able to run at 1280x800 on high, average around 30fps and never fall far below 20 fps. I have a quadro, so it's not exactly a gaming card, but should be plenty powerful enough for such pedestrian numbers. As recently as last patch, however those numbers had fallen off to the point that I was running on low with everything turned off and stuggling to average in the teens with dips into the single digits.

To say the least, I was considering a hiatus until I built a new gaming rig or performance improved, but I figured I would give it one more patch. I'm happy to report that my numbers are basically back where they were months ago. I can actually brawl with mid-high settings and stay in the teens or above. Those aren't great, but this isn't a gaming rig, so I'll take it.

Thanks for bringing me back to par.

  • How had the patch generally affected your performance? No change
  • Whether there are specific points in the game when your performance changes. not that I've noticed.
  • What are your video settings, did you change them since last patch? I play on low for the highest fps. I played with different levels, but my fps drops 5-10 per level in the mechlab. This is similar to before.
  • Average FPS ingame and in the menus for previous patch and latest patch (Press F9 to see your FPS) around 40 fps.
  • System specs (You can include them in a [spoiler] [ /spoiler]) Win7 64-bit. 3.5Ghz AMD Phenom II X4 970. 8GB mem. NVidia GeForce GT 430 (4 GB mem). << I'm guessing this is the holdup
  • Your advertised internet connection speed / Geographic location Don't remember exactly, probably 1-2 Mbps DSL. Located in Indiana, US. Average ping is 40-50.

people having performance issues.. Lower your resolution and settings.. seriously.
e5200 dual core.. oc to 3.66 ,stock air.. from 2.5
radeon 6850 also oc to 821.
running 1280x960 ? native is 1680x1050.. I think all med except shadows and someting else on low.
It looks almost the same as native reso, and med/high.

Also.. reboot/optimize system.. My rig is 4/years old.. ddr2 etc.. THe upgrade years ago was 300 usd.. mb/cpu/gpu/ram.

only dropped 3 games, but .. fps shot up at least 20%.. Saw numbers i never saw before.. Mech starts up.. 70-90 fps.. whip spiders torso left right... 50 fps. smooth.... game was fluid.. Really looking forward to many games tmrow. Will up settings just to see and resolution..

Now i can recommend this game to the average joe.

Went from 45-60 fps to constant 60 all the time.

Specs:
Intel Core i5 3570K
Nvidia GeForce GTX 660Ti 2GB
Windows 8 64bit
8GB RAM
Running with max settings and native 1680 x 1050 resolution.
Ping is crappy as ever. Getting ~130 with 100MB/10MB in Helsinki/Finland.

Performance seems increased. Used to have 45-60fps, vsync enabled, now running about 60 most of the time, not dropping into the 40s. Except if I look around the cockpit... there's something wonky with that GUI.

2560x1440 - Geforce 680, with latest 313 beta driver. 16gb 1866mhz RAM, Core i5 3570k at stock. Win 7 64bit with latest updates.

Never ever should you lower your resolution on a flatpanel... everything goes to uglyville the moment you do. I would rather not play than sit at a lower res on the cheapo monitors that most people own. I can just barely handle looking at the twice-scaled Xbox 1920x1080 input on my monitor if I go sit on my couch.

Great patch! The previous patches saw my FPS fluctuate wildly anywhere from 35 down to 5. Now things are nice and steady and running between 40 and 50 generally (dropping into the 30's on occasion). No more severe drops though. Good job guys!

Hit detection is still atrocious. Some mechs I hit according to the reticule and paper doll but the damage I do seems negligible. Faster mechs I have to lead by up to 2-3 mech lengths to hit but the amount changes from second to second. Using a tag to gauge the mech's real position helps but shows how volatile this lead amount is from second to second.

I have had:
A Raven charge at me and take no damage from 5 medium pulse lasers that hit for full duration.
A Raven, while circling me, take (reticule flashed red) hits from 5 medium pulse lasers over 10 times and end screen said I did 7 points of damage. (How is that even possible?)
I shot a Dragon's left arm and his right arm flew off.
I've been shot in the head/upper torso while standing behind a building and had my leg shot off. The leg wasn't even visible to the enemy, how does it take damage?
I had had to lag lead an Atlas by a length and a half. An Atlas!

Hit detection seems to work for lower pings but has become largely guesswork for higher pings. This is worse for me, not better.

Well, game play wise, I have noticed some improvement but right now I can barely play! I can't even stay in a match for twenty seconds before I get disconnected and sent to the main screen! It is quite infuriating! I rarely ever had this problem before (I average ~90 ping) but after the patch today, I can't even play! I still haven't seen the end of round screen...

Any tips or help would be greatly appreciated!

I'm getting the same behavior. I never had any FPS or connection issues prior to this patch, ever. How in the mechlab I am seeing "session lost" errors and massive lag spikes in game.

I ran diagnostics on my network connection and was seeing latency around 20ms with no packet loss.

I'll run some more tests, and see how the game plays tonight, but something was affecting me last night that I had never seen before.

- How had the patch generally affected your performance?
Not seen anything major yet.

- Whether there are specific points in the game when your performance changes.
Depends more on my connection.

- What are your video settings, did you change them since last patch?
Settings? No.

- Average FPS ingame and in the menus for previous patch and latest patch (Press F9 to see your FPS)
Seems a bit less, noticing the ms speed listed in the menu when hitting TAB, previously it would be about 30ms sometimes jumping up to 100ms, now it looks mostly steady at 25-30ms. I keep forgetting about F9.

- System specs (You can include them in a [ spoiler] [ /spoiler])
Spoiler

Yes, I know my specs are below Minimum settings, despite this I have been able to play with decent performance at times, whenever I have lag, I do a speed test through my service provider and note problems that must be chalked up to the service provider at the lag times so clearly MWO can run on lower specs than the Minimum advertised.

- Your advertised internet connection speed / Geographic location
Speed varies, I usually play when the Download Speed is between 8-11 Mbps, if it is 5-8 Mbps, I quit after a mtach or two if I try at all. Location, Staten Island (New York City), NY, USA.

The FPS seems increased. However crashing back to the mechlab as soon as the startup animation is over, disconnecting in 1 of 3 matches that does not crash to the mechlab, and after the few matches that I was able to play until conclusion not leaving the match for the mechlab, but being told my connection to the server was lost. I think there may be some server instability here. In every match that I was able to play there were random disconnects in the middle of the match. Not just one or two mind you but whole teams worth of people. My ping is usually about 60-70. Most of the folks I saw disconnecting had lowish pings of not more than 175 or so. The guys with the 1700 pings, were able to play just fine.
sorry it is not put together well Im running off to work.

My FPS have dropped greatly since the last patch. From 50 on low and 35 on medium it changed to 15 on both. The game is unplayable now. I tried rebooting the game and computer, but to no avail. Even after reïnstalling the game the issue persisted.

Even though netcode was adjusted on the previous patch, I just wanna echo my approval from then; props to connectivity issues being improved and look forward to further improvements.

Hitting ECM Ravens with an AC/20.... priceless.
