OP, I know what you are saying and sympathize. Unfortunately you won't get understanding from alot of posters, as in their eyes, PGI can do no wrong. What you can do though is to not spend any more RL cash on this game at this time. You can also warn people you know about PGI's practices so they don't suffer the same fate as you in other situations.

THEY REFUNDED THE MONEY.

No they refunded MC not the money that was spent on MC.
I would like to simply say, and prefacing that I use no colors or camos, that no player should find themselves with less than they had pre-patch. Credit refund or not most of these MWO players with color/camo woes are now disadvantaged to recreate what they had pre-patch. Certainly PGI can do whatever they want, so can the community but it is foolish to defend PGI in this when they took something a customer bought and traded it for MC credit leaving the customer with 1 option to recreate the situation they had prior to the patch - spend more MC to maintain what you had yesterday. I am sure PGI will address this because, while this is a small issue it demonstrates how PGI values its customers - and to that point I add that those people that got MC refunded for color/camo DID previously spend real money with PGI! Why would they do anything to annoy the people with an established history of giving PGI money?

I think the same thing is at play here. Folks who put up real money to paint one or two mechs, and had no interest in painting others, are feeling like they got the shaft. I have to say, I think they did. For those folks I think they should get their paint jobs back or a real refund of real cash. Not the MC "refund" everyone seems to enjoy pointing out that they got...

My understanding is that single-use paintjobs are now cheaper than they were. Since the MC was refunded a repurchase of the same thing should, costing less, leave one with more MC left over than pre-patch presuming one bought exactly what they already owned. Presuming I'm not horribly misinformed that is, let me repeat it, a net gain of MC.

That being the case this is a complaint about being forced to click the buttons to paint the mech all over again. And being paid for it.

There was no way to end up with everyone happy anyways.

If they had let people keep things then people would now complain that they have to pay more for colors other got for less

All in all I am happy with the solution. At least noone has lost anything because all was refunded. So at least you now have the decision again if you accept the new pricing and buy at those new terms.

The OP obviously is leaning towards not rebuying phranken at those terms. Which I kind of can understand. On the other hand for that increase in price he also would get more: If he decides to buy the phranken unlock he gets it for all his Atlai. And the colors he even gets for ALL his mechs he has and will buy later.

in the long run he'll save a lot with this new system in relation to the old one.

I had a problem with Etics once but this shampoo cleared it right up.

you could also try the whole burn it on the exposed part with a match then yank, but if you do it wrong it might get infected.

Well not quite. What you say is true for the camos only. Colors cost more now, but therefore you will have them available for ever and on any mech. In case of the phranken (even if you take the single-use camo) you pay more now than before the change. But as said as a "bonus" for the increased price you get to use the colors on your other mechs too. In my book that mopre than justifies the increased price on colors.

Yes, that is true for the patterns. It is not true for the colors, which are up to 1000mc, depending on which you might have used. I think the most the colors were pre-patch was 250mc, but my recollection may be wrong.

My understanding is that the new Phranken pattern is cheaper for the (single use) pattern, but more expensive with the colors (which are no longer included). This is offset by the fact that you can use whatever colors you want (ie: other bought colors/PC Gamer paints), but I can understand being irritated by the increase in the pattern and color purchase.

Honestly, I think the posters who have stated that PGI has done right by us are on the money. It sucks that they (sort of) increased prices, but I think this implementation is far better than the previous version. I don't believe that anyone bought MC just to paint their mech, so insisting on a MC to cash refund is just asinine. Buy some bays, buy some premium time, whatever have you, but the MC are still just as usable as they were.

TL;DR, no one has a point if they start these threads. It's beta, they change things, it's part of the agreement.

Well, I agree with the intent of what you are saying, if not every point. You paid for a paint scheme then they refunded your money and decided they were going charge you a lot more. That does seem unfair to me. What ever is in the contract makes it legal, but not necessarily fair.

In my opinion, Hero Mechs, paint jobs, cockpit doo-dads are all a waste of money. And not it appears that they can screw you on items you've purchased. Thank god I haven't purchased any of that crap

It went from costing 1.250 MC to 3,125. The prices in this game are just crazy.

From what I read in other threads, de-select the premium colours and just use the free ones. The 3K is the cost of permanently unlocking the default premium Phranken colours.

I work my butt off to have discretionary money to blow on booze, gambling, tobacco, and MWO.

Why ON EARTH should I empathize with someone who cries because they don't have the same dollars?

I think it is ridiculous that you imply I should - if you want to spend more money on MWO, but think things are too expensive, GO EARN MORE MONEY.

I lol'd, I actually ended up with more than what I had paid, because I had applied the same basic paint job to all of my mechs(so I actually like the permanent color unlocks ALOT more than the old system which felt like oh wow you want a black part of a mech gimme 5 dolla)

at least now the 5 dolla loves me long time now

I think some number clarification would help, if anyone could please post the previous price for phranken it would help me to understand. I haven't bought any color or camo so have no idea what the previous price was. However the current price for a single use is 125 mc. Was the previous price more or less, as the previous was also a single use. If you are attempting to compare your refund to the current permanent unlock price then I would have to say you are completely in the wrong, as the previous was only a single use and can only be compared with the current single use price.

I believe it was 750 MC for the pattern and 125 MC for each color. If you bought the pattern it applied the 3 colors to the mech for free. I used the individual Phranken colors far more than the pattern. The Phranken colors were cheaper than the 250 MC for Premium colors.

It should be cheaper now with the single use versions, but people are quoting the multi-use costs and getting ******** because they want something they never paid for in the first place, specifically, multi-use functionality.

Seems to me that I can buy a 1 use Phranken for 125 MC and the (new) free PC Gamer colors are awfully close to the Phranken colors...so I can basically have for 125 MC what used to cost 750 MC.

I'm trying to figure out how that means I must be white knighting if I don't feel ripped off.

what the heck is "OP"¡¡ XD

and i will like to add that what bugs me more is they didnt need to do it like this... they didnt need to be rude.we are spending money in a beta that feels like an alpha. What about some consideration to the users ? are they gonna to broke if they just leave us to keep ours purchases? why dont give us some love? I dont trust them anymore and for what, some colors that dont cost nothing to them?

Reason I picked 250 camo light gray over 1000 white. Its barely noticeable and probably looks better.

You just have to look around.

They did need to reset it, as some people (like myself) spend a lot of MC and CBills applying the same color and pattern to various mechs. Other people spent a lot of MC applying various colors to various mechs. Mine (among others) was well under the cost of the Cbills and MC that I put into it.. others would be well over the cost of MC and Cbills in the new system.
The reset was needed. Everything we put into the old system, MC and Cbills was given back to us.

Stupid thread is stupid. Would not buy again.

Dont you get me wrong...but:

we are at the brink of a new time (if you so want).

Some years ago...game designers needed to actually finish a game and put it in a box BEFORE they got any cash.

Then...they could finish a game and economise the box, people could download the game directly (did you see prices go down on PC games with the missing box? I didnt).

Today...its awesome...they dont even need to finish a game to get cash. Just call it beta, make it downloadable and tadaaaa...people give you cash to play it.

It was a question of time, until people notice that they are spending cash...on nothing...on work in progress, without any possibility for a refund what so ever.

My tip to anyone : do only pay for anything (MWO for example) if you are 200% sure you like it and that you accept that progress means change. This goes for anything...we are the customers, we decide what/who is successfull, not the game designers. Just dont complain afterwards :(
