I play it as a straight up, in-your-face brawler. It packs a mean alpha strike. You guys are right about not stopping. The damn thing takes forever to get going and to stop, even with the basic efficiencies unlocked.

I don't know what this mech feels like with the stock engine (I immediately dropped in a 400), but the PB is wickedly responsive with an XL400.

I keep beating my head against the wall on this design.

There is just nothing that works well.

But right now i've got
340 STD
14 DHS
x2 LPL
Med laser
x2 SSRM2
SRM6

I ran the build I mentioned in the other thread all night - and aside from the sluggish stopping, I was pretty happy with it (1xERPPC, 3 SRM6+Artemis (4 tons), 2 MLs w/XL380/18 DHS). It's the first time I've ever used Artemis or ERPPCs, and both seemed to fit the build perfectly. The SRM spread was very tight - I was pleasantly surprised at how effective they were considering where the hardpoints are.

Best thing about the deceleration nerf is that when I overheat, by the time I stop moving, I am ready to power on again! I have actually crested out of the caldera stopped on the outside slope, blocked from fire. I actually cheered when it happened.

PRETTY BABY

2 Large Pulse
3 SRM6 (5T ammo)
XL385 (78kph/86kph)
448/494 armor

Alternately: swap the 2 arm SRM6's for 2xSRM4's, then you can throw a medium pulse in the head and an extra double heatsink after taking out the head ammo.

LOL.. I'll admit that on more than a couple occasions, I steered myself face-first into walls/buildings to stop my forward momentum. I'm sure it looked like crap piloting to my teammates - but the thing doesn't like to stop at all. Better than drifting halfway up and over the ridge to get blasted...

Ok this design is working for me a bit more but i made a few changes

Dropped the Engine from a 380 XL to a 320 STD. I just can't justify running an XL on an awesome and only 16 DHS.

The only reason for speed is to brawl, if your going to brawl having a XL is generally the difference from getting a kill or die'n.

It still manages to go 71 kph which is more than enough to engage and outmaneuver other heavies and assaults.

The PB is a hoot. I'm having fun with it. I really like my current build (LL, 2 MPL, 3 SRM6), but I wish there was a way to swap the LL for an LPL. I don't really need the range, and the shorter beam time is helpful when torso twisting.

I'm not giving up the XL400 because speed makes NRP giddy.

Just finished a match in mine. 6 kills 2 Assists with 1000+ damage. Been averaging around 2-3 kills and 600+ damage over the last few hours.

Running 2x LL, 1x ML, 3x SRM6 and then whatever else it came with. Didn't change much.

I think I have a very similar build planned so I will link it for those interested:

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...c4966b1ddca5ead

Uses up every last crit space and it was the closest thing to my preferred build on my 9M

Ask and ye Shall receive. I even managed to put 4 tons of SRM ammo and used every single crit slot.

Dang! Thanks man. Never thought about using FF. Only concern is heat. That build has fewer DHS than I currently run. And I tend to be trigger happy so my builds run hot.

Still gonna try it though. You guys rock.

Glad to help, let me know how the heat is. It's very close to the heat efficiency of my 9M and with the speed of the XL400 I figure you can spend less time in front of someone trading shots and more time positioning and the heat won't be so bad as a result. That's how I play my 9m anyways. I just circle around behind someone or weave between cover for a moment to save on heat before I rip back into them.

I am hoping there will be an MC sale for next week (Valentines day you never know) so I will probably hold off on picking up the PB until then. In the meantime keep being the guinea pig ;)

I find that Awesome pilots tend to be the most helpful to each other when it comes to these sorts of things haha.

XL400
Endo
FF

Then either:

A )
2 PPC
3 SRM6 (2t ammo)

B )
2 PPC
2 SRM4 + SRM6 (3t ammo)
1 ML

The PPC can also be switched for ER PPC or LPL and vice versa.

;)

16 heat sinks seem a little low to me. Here is what I'm running.

The 2xPPCs do decent damage, but don't quite hammer like my beloved 3xPPCs on the 9M. The big advantage though is chucking rockets at close range. The more I play the PB, the more often I tap out of SRM ammo, and I'm packing 3 tons now! Doing respectable damage, enjoying the cbill bonus and the different play style.

Still would have loved an extra energy slot and some ECM.

Running with stock engine, 2 ERPPC and 3SRM6. Moved some back armor to the front.

Much more effective than I thought it would be. The torso and arms move so fast that splitting the ERPPCs and SRMs arm/torso makes little difference and it runs around at a very useful 75 kph with speed tweak. No Artemis, so the SRMs are an in-your-face weapon.

I have shot a number of Stalkers from behind :D.

The PB just has an incredible "in your face" (or your azz) alpha strike punch. I have to be careful because I tend to get greedy with close range alphas and end up getting wrecked. Sooo fun though.

I'm loving my baby so far, the inertia is a beast to deal with when slowing down but it leads to a load of john woo moments where you slide out of cover and start blazing on someone you wasn't expecting.

Easily the most awkward mech I've used, everything feels like it's in the wrong place but when a match goes right she slips in and out of fights making stuff explode all around.

My biggest problem is snipers, I don't want them chewing through my armor before I hit the battle so I keep the lrm10 fitted to force them into cover if needed. It's a bit of a sacrifice on the face2face firepower but worth it with all those gauss mechwookies out there.

I dropped the engine to an xl320 (64.8kph) and loaded:
1x ER PPC (ecm atlas seeker)
1x Medium laser
1x Large laser
1x LRM 10 (Occasionally a SRM6)
2x SRM6 (shotgun arm)
AMS (no room for another heatsink so it's the next best thing)
Double heat sinks

Ok, the LPL, 2 MPL, 3 SRM6, 16 DHS build Grimlox made for me just runs too hot. 17 DHS is the absolute minimum I can run. 18 DHS is better. Hmmm.

XL385
2x LPL
1x ML
1x SRM4 + Artemis
1x SRM6 + Artemis
3x SRM Ammo

Endo Steel
18DHS

The 400 isn't worth the extra weight IMO because I don't need the extra heat sink slot. I liked having Artemis much better than an extra SRM4.
