Given the success of the ECM game mechanic I, like many of you, await with bated breath the developement of similar game mechanics for the rest of the weapons food groups.
1.5tons and two critical spaces should suffice for the following services.
A. Anti-laser aerosol chaff dispensors,

B. Trophy anti-SRM pt. defense systems,

C. Tactical High Energy Laser artillary shell pt. defense

D. PPC superconducting grounding rods

E. Active Pt. Defense Smart Armor

For 9 tons and 18 critical slots you too can be impervious to anything on the MWO battle field. Think of all the fun you will have as you turn and burn in a battlemech furball! Every single mechwarrior can expect to give and recieve from 0 to <100 pts of damage in each and every 15 minute slugfest marathon. No one need ever perish again! What's not to like?
I am, of course, being facetious. ECM never had any ability to stop LRMs cold in Battletech table top play. ECM served to jam advanced play electronic warfare items and did nothing to missile hit probabilities. As I have shown, there are systems and concepts that could be used to stop every BT weapons vector cold that are every bit as realistic as the ECM/Missile fiasco.
From a game mechanics stand point, ECM is STUPID! I have playtested LRM boats that consistantly produce 0 pts of damage for entire sessions. Every weapons system in BT MWO should have a role to play, but ECM is so strong, LRMs have been relegated to LULZ builds.
How many of you are looking forward to seeing an Atlas delegate 9 tons to ECM EVERYTHING? Are you really going to enjoy sitting behind that mech with 4 Medium Lasers blazing away for a total of 0 pts of dammage after 15 minutes of firing?
Remove ECM from the game now. Hell, make it an electronic version of Pt. Defense if you want, but remove it. It has no place in Battletech as it exists now.
Fix ECM and reintroduce it later with Phyisical Attacks, Community Warfare, collisions and the Graduated Heat Scale effects. Untill Community Warfare is introduced, this game can only be considered an Alpha release. 0.00 Founders ante'd up for the MWO kickstarter to play a Counter Strike Mechwarrior skin.
That being said I like the potential I see in MWO. When the game incorporates community warfare, I can definitely see myself playing this game quite a bit with my tatble top campaign buddies.
