I was wondering if people were aware of this one and how they think the two games will compare?

From what I've seen, this looks incredible if they can pull it off.

mwo will be less like call of duty than Hawken. Hawnken will be an interesting title, but im far more excited about MWO.

I don't think Hawken will be a bad game, but honestly I can't get rid of the feeling it will be like team fortress with mechs. Too much arcade for me. Also, too fast (judging from the videos).

I would liken Hawken more to quake 3 than mechwarrior. I may actually give it a try down the line, it reminds me allot of District 9 :)

From what ive seen of Hawkin, It looks solid and i wouldnt say i would not try it but BT has always had my heart lmao. I dont know why but always seemed more realistic i guess if you can say that about any sci fi based game. Hawkin has good graphics but its a story line and a great community that will make or break a game and we have both in spades i feel. So to you beta testers Good luck and good hunting. And kill an atlas for me =)

If I vanted to play a game like Hawken I could just jump on a ship with the first of those F2P FPS advertisings on most sites.

If I want to play Mechwarrior, this is the only option.

The people compare them, because they think it's the same thing and how wrong they are. :)

Hawken is a First-Person Shooter. MechWarrior Online is a First-Person Simulation.

Essentially Hawken will be a much simpler game, which isn't necessarily bad, it just makes it different. Personally I'll be playing both.

I'll definitely be playing both. The two of them are different, and that's a good thing. I'd rather not be playing two 'Mech games that are way too similar. After all, that's just boring. With that being said, I'll probably still be playing MWO a lot more than Hawken.

MWO definitely looks like it will be tougher to get the hang of. Hopefully it stays that way.

For some reasons, I do not have any interest whatsoever in a mech-based game that is not a Mechwarrior. Anyway, Hawken looks good, although from what I saw/understand is basically a cod in mechs.

Hawken looks good but i cant say i like mechs and gameplay its like shooter in different environment but still nice for people that love that kind of play (i love it too) but i like mw style more when it comes to machines of destruction.

I gotta say, while it's quite obvious that Hawken is going to be significantly different when compared to MWO, I don't like the comparison to CoD as I think it's not true.
Admittedly it is twitchy and fast paced like CoD is, maybe even more so. However, CoD has a more pseudorealistic gameplay, while Hawken seems to be going more for the anime-mecha-style combat, which is more in line with Unreal Torunament gameplay than CoD, and there's a significant difference between the two.
As said before, CoD is going more into a fast paced pseudorealistic actionmovie direction. Unreal completely throws realism out the window and focuses more on quickly blowing everything to bits.
They sound very similar, but unlike Unreal, CoD tries to provides a somewhat realistic feeling to the player.
Movement of those mechs also resembles something more in line with what you'd find in Unreal rather than CoD. (JJs and Dashing)

Besides, I despise CoD, yet am really excited about Hawken, so never ever compare the two when I'm near! ;)

Hawken, if I may, looks like it plays more like Bubblegum Crisis, with the Knight-o Sabers fighting Boomers.

Here's how I think Hawken and MWO will compare to each other:

Hawken:Modern FPS...WITH ROBOTS!

MWO: IL-2 Sturmovik...WITH ROBOTS! But a bit easier to pilot

MechWarrior is and always will be a IL-2-esqe giant robot simulator. On the other hand, from what i've seen, Hawken will be like COD or TF2 or something but with robots. I wonder if anyone will say something about Steel Battalion...

EDIT: I also wonder if someone will say something about Armored Core...friggin...depressing, overcomplicated, piece of **** PS3 titles...

For those keep score, we're up to 8 games that are in the works for FMS (first mech shooters) coming up.

I think, to be honest, people just say "Call of Duty" about anything that is a first person shooter. Kind of like how people call all facial tissue "Kleenex". It's just the most well known at the moment.

I think the game could be good. I hope they put in random elements during the match to make things interesting. And Heck, even if it becomes terrible, there's no risk because its free. There is also more of a chance to get into the beta in Hawken than in MWO because less people are interested in it.

If the gameplay is going to be anywhere close to the good-ol "unreal tournament" I would be very happy and possibly even take it for a spin, out of love I had for it/them. By saying "cod" style I meant a shooter in which the concept of tactic is knowing where to camp and that requires either some form of adhds or huge quantities of caffeine to keep up with the pace. Do not let me start on cods. I appreciate them as much as the next... no I really really do not. Sorry cod fans. I prefer bass.

How does this compare?

Considering I haven't played MWO beta and neither game is released to the public, I'm going to reply with "Nobody knows and everything else is speculation."
