It seems this was inevitable...

I for one am not against the concept of Pony Liveries, but to say I was planning on or looking forward to them would be quite far from the truth.

I am totally confused as to how this "Brony" thing got started. To my understanding there are apparently "ironic" Bronies (what I know in the music world as hipsters), legitimate Bronies that aren't weird (probably a great majority that are ***...er... g@y is not a bad word!... of which I'm totally cool with), and the omfg-lock-the-door crazies of which I wish there were less of. :)

Seriously. Your logic is confusing me. Or maybe it's the way you wrote your post.

What I'm saying is I don't know what this Brony thing is really or how it got started. Maybe I would have seen the same thing happen to Barbie if we had the internet back then. I just assume (based on my own knowledge) all bronies fall into one of those three categories.

The more I learn about it the more I'm thinking I'm better off not knowing. Clopfic is apparently something I don't need to read anytime soon... or ever. :)

Just because I don't have a girlfriend and live at home with my parents doesn't mean I'm g@y. It just means I don't have a girlfriend and live at home with my parents. So, I guess I'm just your average stereotypical college geek...kinda...ish...maybe?

Personally, I think ponies are an extension of lolcats.

People like it because it's funny, cute, or both.

I'm pretty far from identifying myself as a brony, but I have to admit, they're definitely a step back towards more intelligent cartoons, remember Pinky and the Brain / The Animaniacs? They take a lot of lessons from those shows, even if they're limited by their target audience.

That and I love watching the butthurt flow when I repaint mechs with rainbow colors.

I got this pointed out to me. Pretty good description for those who really care (warning: flash with light sound for those that care).
However, enough of this!

Personally I enjoy the show because ITS NOT A BAD SHOW!!!

Its got good animation quality, lots of little details in the background that are easy to miss, and the story is light hearted enough to fit into the "easy listening" category that I can just watch to unwind.

But what really hooked me on this fandom is the amount of stuff people have been able to do with such an obscure show (Lets face it. Who though anybody older than 5 would ever watch ponies???).

There have been crossover art and stories created for Dr. Who (of which I'm also a fan) and Mechwarrior and just about everything else under the sun. There have been some amazing music videos and songs that even non-bronies will admit to enjoying (I've got a CD in my car of some of the better stuff and a friend of mine has now asked for a copy even though he's never watched the show).

It's great to feel that sense of community that this fandom brings. It's great to be able to regress a little and enjoy a TV show that's not filled with drama, swearing, and a constant stream of flashbacks (like in the show "Lost")

I'm sure there are bronies out there who are g@y, but they're not g@y because they're bronies. What does sexuality have to do with any of this?

I think you guys need to take a step back and stop bashing everyone over the head with this sort of thing. I really could careless who's straight, g@y, bi, transgendered, or whatever.

If you like ponies, good for you! I'm right there watching those livestreams with you on Saturday mornings xD

If you don't like ponies, its not the end of the world. I love you guys and girls too, and just because you can't understand us know that you don't need to hate on us all the time... There are a few wierdos in any group but most of us are pretty normal much like yourselves, so you might as well let us get on with this whole fanboyishness while it lasts.

It's important to us and we enjoy ourselves. Nothing else really matters. Nobody made you come on this thread. Nobody is going to stop you from coming on here.

Peace all.

Less rainbow? I might be new to this brony thing but that smacks of heresy to me. HERESY!

Warmachine? Ewww...not sure I want you in ELP now. :)

Games Workshop and its reasonably obscenely priced models and excellent horrible writers (*cough* Matt Ward *cough*) for the win lose.

I like it because it is a smart, fun show. Yea the source material might be for little girls, but give it a chance and look past that, the writing is great. Just, start with something other then the first 2 eps. because those seemed to have a more serious tone and lack the humor and fun the later eps have in bunches. As for the whole bronie thing (<- WARNING - this link to youtube might not be considered family friendly) it can be funny to laugh with, and laugh at. Bronies are good at laughing with you, not at you. Everything has a fanbase online that takes it too far. Look at us, 29 pages of "Who's willing to pilot something other than an Assault mech?" and endless game mechanic threads.
