First of all, I want to say the weapon balance is just about right (well done PGI). However, this is beta so let's mess it all up again with some new weapons.

Now I'm not big on Battletech lore/canon but I've played mw2-4 along with mech commander so I know we can expect to see in the future the following

(excluding clan tech)

medium range missiles
rotary autocannon
long tom? (maybe)
narc (I know it's on the way)
light gauss rifle?
extended long range missiles

please help me out if I missed any (I'm sure I did) or if any of these are clan. What might we realistically expect from the devs?

Nothing, until the clans.

We have NARC already. Shows how useful it is, doesn't it?

You can find out a lot of info there. Barring clan-tech you're looking at new/advanced equipment around 3058 for the most part. That's 8 years from now if they stick to their 1 to 1 timeline.

The ones that are mech weapons are years away

NARC has been in the game for months

They recently confirmed they're planning Artillery Strike as an option for players to use- but it won't be mounted to your mech, it will be 'called in' from off the map.

I don't know about that, but they supposedly have something like 12 more modules planned for release. If the ratio stands only a few of those will actually be worth getting but that's still progress.

Inner Sphere basically has all the technology its ever going to get for a LONG time.

If you want better technology youll have to play Clan.

They aren't going to be able to, at some point they will have to speed it up or this game will stagnate content wise. 1 mech every month/other month and different times of day for the same maps is not enough to build a game on for the long run.

Well MASC looks to have potential. Also I realize that narc is released but it's not actually working yet correct? Well I guess we'll just have to wait for community warfare to fire up.

I know that we all want new maps,
new mechs....

but I was really hoping for some new weapons, it would give the old mechs a little pizzaz..........well here's hoping for some new modules that are worth the cbills, as of right now I've got little left to grind for. To be fair though I'm enjoying this latest patch though, quite a bit in fact.

Thanks for the update guys.

Narc is working as intended. It's just crap compared to it's weight and low ammo.

Personally I'd love a stack of snub-nose PPCs :)

Theres some potential for flushing out existing tech with special ammos. Some are not quite 3049, but thats true of some of the other stuff in use too, not perfectly canon.
Infernoes SRM http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Inferno
Listen Kill http://www.sarna.net...en-Kill_Missile
Follow the leader http://www.sarna.net..._Leader_Warhead
TSM - If we ever get physicals this would rock http://www.sarna.net...Strength_Myomer
Targeting Computers http://www.sarna.net...geting_computer
Precision AC Ammo http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Precision
Armor Piercing AC Ammo http://www.sarna.net.../Armor-Piercing

Than from the clan invasion on we should start seeing this stuff

Would love to rock a Heavy Gauss :] or some ArrowIV but the hardpoint system (a la non split crits) sort of borks that.

MASC is the only piece of equipment that we know for certain will be added.

Why? The Flea uses it.
