I wrote "Roll face on keyboard, post results" a couple of days ago. I was pleasantly surprised when some guys actually did. Great way to start a match.

I don't have any phrase that I repeat, but I once said "are you ready to die?" at the beginning of the match, and accidentally it was on team chat. After that all my team was like: "hey say that to the other team!", "now i'm all depressed", it was pretty funny ;).

If you've seen Blade 3, the proper response is: "I was born ready, Mother F***er."

Dropped with Wispy at the weekend. He did his usual; Your lives. I claim them. A wise ******* on the other side replied; Wispy may claim our lives, but Soulscour gets them squeaky clean!

Huh? I thought and hit the Q key. Sure enough the other light on our team was driven by a guy called Soulscour.

The funniest quote is "GG, close" after a 3,5 minute curb-stomping :-)

I like to tell the other team that they are facing an 8 man sync drop. I have never even thought of joining an 8 man in my life. Comedy usually ensues.

AWESOME TROLLING!!

OMG I NEVER THOUGHT OF THAT HAHAHAHA

When matchmaker decides there is just too much win on our team already and shorts us one or two:

Boss mode. . . Accepted!

If we win:

Boss mode. . . Accomplished!

I'm wondering now how Elo works with a short team and a win? Hmmm.

I've also seen "Your lives, I claim them." I respond with something similar to "Fine but you have to pay my bills."

With GLHF, I responded with "Girls love hairy feet?" Many lines of hilarity ensued.

Then we got pugstomped.

For Caustic Valley:

Team Member: Plan?
Me: Overheat several times followed by an explosion.

I used to recite a quick poem before each match, but for some odd reason that tended to get me focus fired, sometimes by my own team... ;)

If someone caps our base and I am in my XL360 dragon, I sometimes say:"Stop capping or I kill you!"

And so far, I always have :P

Anyway, on one match I had to do it three times. Third guy replied before dying:"hey, your team started the capping!"

Today:

Random person: FOR THE SWARM!

Me: For Aiur!

StarCraft reference, in case you didn't get it. Unfortunately I got promptly blown up by UAC20s that game, but it does describe my typical game against the Zerg Swarm in SC pretty well.

Also this one:

Me: gl hf

Person from other team: Why not pigeon feathers?

Me: Owls hard counter pigeons.

Person from other team: Good comeback.

Edit: I mean to say UAC5s. They felt like UAC20s though.

Err... UAC5s, that is. Doesn't make a difference to me though which they were, I still exploded instantly.

I believe that's merely a product of the rules of the game. A StarCraft game (like, say, Chess) CAN continue for a long time after one player has lost the game. So surrendering when you realize you've lost is an important element of respect-for-each-other's-time. Likewise, offensive gg'ing is rude because it is presumptive about the other guy's ability to win.

In MW:O, because the game ends suddenly, there was no post match chat for so long and because it is often played between teams of unaffiliated players - the salutes needed to change. If you are on the winning team and want to show respect to the losers, you can't (well, couldn't) wait around for the other guys to gg first. So, as I see it, the gg in MW:O shouldn't be a "Vector-gg", the team it comes from isn't important. It's just a "this was a good game and I am glad to have gotten to play it with all you people".

This makes a great deal of sense.

However, I think I'll stick with "wp" when indicating respect to opponents. Old habits and all.

Or maybe I'll throw one in from Fencing: if a match comes down to 4-4-, 9-9, 14-14, or whatever means sudden death, both opponents remove their helmets and call out "La belle" and salute. No idea what the French is signifying (this was a beautiful one?) but it always seemed like a cool way to indicate respect for an opponent proven one's equal.
