On Feb 19 - Prepare To Use Your Noggin'

On Feb 19th PPCs are going drop ECM for 5 seconds!
OH NO!
You there, Atlas pilot! You're going to have to use cover and not use your face as a meat shield to get hit by stuff!
Any heavy or assault relying on ECM coverage from an Atlas is going to be required to not stand out in the open flailing around with a big "Shoot me! Oh please! Shoot me now!" sign on their chests.
Good heavens! I can hardly wait!

In reality, I don't think the upcoming PPC change is going to have much of an effect. We'll see though.

Oh, I don't know. It might make me take out my ghetto Panther (ERPPC Commando) again, but now instead of being totally useless I can use it for anti-ECM duty.

Pfft, old news. They've been diving for cover since TAG and direct fire barraging became (semi-)standard. Tell us something new, not already done.

Tag drops ECM coverage for all the mechs in the area?
Tag is a single shot that makes every mech covered by the targets ECM targetable for the next 5 seconds?
Tag is not what you think it is.

Time yourself to see how long it takes you to just read what I wrote. Tell me what you think?

The tiny shift of 50m or so with XP and cash expensive modules isn't going to be significant. Anyone who's within 200m of a D-DC is going to be worried about more than a slight expansion in ECM penetration. Like AC20+SRM penetration of their armor.
So there's a virtually insignificant shift in ECM mechanics that may or may not have some sort of effect in some circumstances on pretty much 1 mech.
Wow. I'm full of tingles. My noggin is already starting to warm up.

Maybe not, but I have a Cataphract that carries 3 ER PPCs... I'm pretty sure I can set them to chain fire and keep hitting every 4-5 seconds to keep the ECM down for a fair amount of time before heat ever becomes an issue.
Should be pretty easy to keep ECM down for a team mate in an LRM boat...
Shhh... There was that "team" word again...

Although I don't doubt this, I've been grinding Atlas variants and have been working on the non-ECM versions. I've PUG dropped (PUG 100% of the time so far) MANY times with NO ECM and just having the AMS launcher seems to keep most of the LRM damage to a minimum.
I'm not saying that I take NO damage, I just don't see myself taking any more damage with LRMs than I do from energy or other ballistic weapons. I'm far more leery of the SRM cats, gaussapults, etc.

Exactly, If you stand beside someone with ECM, you get their ECM coverage even if you get hit with PPC. That plus if you are getting hit by PPC, you should be doing other things anyway,

I didn't say it would be impossible. And you can pull it off I've got a few LRM boats I would like to be your T mate with. But as it stands now I have a number of faster mechs with TAG on them and calling in for missle support doesn't come as easy as the OP makes it to be. Let alone trying in a 5 second window.

A: Can i get a SSRM lock in five seconds.
B: How suicidal would it be to put a PPC in my Jenner..
Naaaa.. But honestly i have a few synergy ideas specificity designed for hunting 3L´s now.

At least until you overheat, shut down, and get cored by the streakcat teammate...
