Include a Mechbay with a Hero Mech. We are paying a very pretty penny for one, the least they can do is not put it in a regular Bay.

If it's difficult to implement a free bay with each hero mech, I'd settle for a global discount of 300MC off the purchase price of all hero mechs.

Cant i just make 10 accounts. Thats 40 mech bay slots right there.

To be honest, I did. I seem to have some fixation about playing trial mechs. Ended up just putting a single chasis on each account. My founders account still has MC and premium time on it. Will go back to it when there is a reason to do it.

Have to disagree OP.. Im a cheap motha, and its time for some mc, for exactly this reason. Its time for mechbays. I always planned on dropping 40-50 bucks on the game, because..... thats what a game used to cost. So... it only stands to reason if you enjoy the game, at some point you pony up and pay up.
The only reason i havent done it before is My confidence in the viability of the game was really questioned.. I mean the performance used to be... amazingly bad..
I have to admit that the improvements made in performance have been shocking.. From unplayable with ultra low user config to " i dont gotta get no new pc" mix of high , med and low settings native 1680x1050 steady eddie 40-60 fps... Amazing.. really.

Games only used to cost less than $50, bc alot of people are willing to spend more than that today. Some are willing to at least. I myself, not so much. Tanks taught me to say no to being suckered by microtransactions. PS, most titles I pick up, cost less than $50, bc i wait for steam sales. The downside is I dont get them when they are brand new, BUT, when theyre brand new these days, that means theyre only half done, need substantial patching, etc. By the time their on sale, you get a much more complete title.

So jokes on you industry, what I have learned, will eventually be known to all.

I'm probably going to only say this once since it's clear to me that there's no "incentive" for me to want to share this game with others because of the limited mech space I get.

I'm working hard at trying to enjoy this game as I can. The problem is that having the basic 4 is simply not enough. If you were to reasonably survive under this system, you need two basic mechs you can hold onto... one build with more speed.. and one build with more firepower. Everything else is kinda inconsequential. This is not doable with the current setup, especially if/when more gameplay features are added, which may or may not have consequences in the future. You want to be able to use at most 2 mechs you really want to play with, in more serious types of games. It suddenly becomes rather difficult to maintain on the F2P model as one tries to keep progressing, slowly but surely.

The rest have said, and repeated: you're paying nothing, and the cost of the mechbay is minimal

It's true. Noone will deny that. However, those who are still trying to figure out what's worth getting or even if this game is worth spending will eventually find out midway of investing their time that it might not be worth it. Nothing in the paid model is required.. premium time is simply there to accelerate growth... hero mechs are optional (although in some cases, much better than the other variants), and that's not a real problem. However, the problem still is IMO is the part where we must grind through 3 variants to be reasonably competitive. Having that only gets you one mechbay free. Yes, the "generous" one free mechbay. Well, don't most people need like TWO mechs they would goto if they had to play for "srs business"? Perhaps.

Anyways, I feel that having 4 mechbays under the current set of requirements (for getting up and being competitive) is really borderline P2W. That's how I feel. If there's no method to accomplish getting a free mechbay (one time only for just ONE mechbay), then I believe myself and others (the minority) will suffer and perhaps not really consider spending money ever (or spread the word). I admit that if/when I do spent money, it will be for mechbays and at this point, I'm only going to settle for that (no hero mechs or premium time, since the latter is worthless to me and PGI doesn't deserve my money for their hero mechs). There should always be a reasonable path to some success that is not dependent on a P2W model. Knowing that the money is perfectly lodged as part of the mechbay slots is not where players that are not willing to spend a lot (or at all) should be literally stuck. There's no good will for players that try to work with the system as much as they can, only to walk the tightest of all tightropes with the limited mechbays.

Disagree with the OP, mech bays are no different then extra character slots in most other F2P games and more generous to boot. Many MMORPG's only offer 2 slots, granted while those character go through 50+ levels, it's still only 2 vs the 4 we start with. Besides the mech bays are pretty inexpensive, you really shouldn't complain that you might be asked to spend roughly $1.75 for a mech bay. However, that being said, I could see them giving a 'free' mech bay with the purchase of any Mech with MC.

Wtf is going on with all the "gimmi more free stuff" threads. This isn't Europe, you actually have to pay for **** here folks.

PGI is in Canada, which is as much a Socialist country as any in Europe. Sure I agree with shell out a whole 1.75 for each mech bay, but this statement I can not let go un-punished.

I just love the folks demanding the we pay while this game is still in beta. While I've only been playing a short time (and I've enjoyed it so far) I find it disturbing to see this mindset already present.

I've beta tested other game and have experienced many wipes of equipment, experience, in game currency, etc. I've not found anything from PCI stating that MC, c-bils, or anything else will remain once this game goes live. Until the company states this - there will be no purchases by me. All you forum warriors can keep making your statesments, I don't know you and I have no evidence that what you say will happen.

Let me get this straight. You can afford a $700 PC (just the PC, not counting the peripherals) but not $6.95 on a game you play regularly?

I don't get it, but I also can't speak idi0t.

So what you're saying is that you find it inconvenient to only have 4 mech bays. Inconvenient that you'd have to sell mechs to master multiple chassis.

So you're saying that paying for a mechbay or three removes that inconvenience.

So you're paying for convenience.

Reading that sentence again seems like I wrote exactly the definition of "pay for convenience" and not "pay to win."

$15 nets you 10 mech bays. That's enough to master 3 different types of mech without selling any variants you dislike. Sell just 2 variants and you can master 4 different mechs. It will probably take you 3 months to fill those bays.

$1.50 a bay is reasonable. If it were $5 per bay, yes, you could have a valid complaint.

Hmmm, still trying to make my way through that active forum posts - too bad I missed that one in the archives. That being said, I'm not paying to provide a company with test data. They let me play for free, they get the data to improve the game.

I'll consider spending money once the game goes live and I decide I like it.

Mechbays cost next to nothing. If that is all you need to spend real money on then it is a bargain.

Man up and put a few dollars down.

Cheapskate.

Most purchases in MWO are ridiculously priced, but the mechbays are none one of them. Paying a buck for a mechbay is totally reasonable.

I could see giving F2P players a limited number of extra mech bays they could earn through promotions, stuff that advertises the game and is going to bring more players (who may be paying) in. A lot of F2P games give some kinda of pay content reward to players for 'Liking' them on facebook.

Perhaps a reward system for invites could be a good hook. Could get something for each account you invite that plays enough to get their entire Rookie C-bill bonus. Or something like 'an account you invited to the game bought MC for the first time: here is 100 free MC reward.' The second one is a good hook for PGI because that little bit of MC sitting on their account might be enough to tempt a player who normally wouldn't to buy a little MC to cash in on the bit they have on their account already and get something big.
