Additional mechbays are the most basic thing someone buys with MC. I'm guessing it's the most common thing bought, and though it might not be obvious at first, someone who feels compelled to buy a mechbay will probably feel more comfortable buying more MC in the future.

If they start giving away MC (even as low as 30 per day), people would start being able to buy mechbays without buying MC. The loss in revenues would most likely be quite significant.

A compromise means both side are giving and giving up something. You want PGI to give up free MCs. What are YOU giving up?

Surely, you aren't this cheap?

You seriously underestimate the entitlement of gamers.

Maybe it has something to do with a large initial investment in gaming hardware...

I like this idea as long as it happens in a VERY LIMITED way. Say 1 MC for everyday you play this way you still earn MC but you would need to play for most of a year to get 1 mechbay. MAYBE I could be talked into 3 MC a day so it would take 100 days for a free mechbay. That said just giving away MC without a contest or offer of some kind isn't the best way to conduct a business.

Again, could you clarify how PGI giving away free money represents a compromise?

Well, they would be compromising their ability to make money off this game (for no good reason). So, I think that technically qualifies as a form of compromise...

A compromise would be more like where you buy $100 worth of MC and mechbays can be purchased for cbills thereafter.

Come to think of it, if PGI did that, I might actually drop $100 into this game.

My compromise would be, if I buy a Hero Mech, I get the Mech Bay for Free. I would be all over that!

if they did the Solarise contest matches maybe you could win some MC for getting to a certain point but it would need to be a very long slog out in the arena no payout if your not good enough or maybe various random rewards like colours mech bays a pound or dollars worth in MC that could work. or work towards a mechbay like 5% of the way there for each win or top ranking in an arena and only one daily arena per day.

it does not need to be much at all for you to have some scene of achievement and it will get people playing for longer. that makes them much more likely to pay.

oh and by the way i do pay

How about no and you go out and get a job.

While i think many items are overpriced, I do not think mech bays are one of them, and people need to stop being so bloody cheap. Spend 6.95. Boom enough for 8 total mechbays, and that is really enough.

Holy frig, stop being so cheap! The developers of this game have bills too, if this game doesn't make them money there will be no game, period.

I gotta say all these "I want everything for free" posts are getting under my skin in a big way. I have spent alot of money supporting this game so far and the only reason you cheap !$%&*&&%^% have a game to play is because of the developers and the poeple like us that pay to support it. So get off your high friggin horse and spend a couple bucks so we can have nice things.

Rant off!

This is a legitimately good point, one I happen to agree with.

It amazes me what some people say or come up with.

The game is free, now you want to be paid to play their game, how about you pay me for reading this sad sad sad post.

50 MC for every post you write I read = sounds good to me, what you think?

I would like to see Hero mechs come with a free mech bay. That would be a good start.

I also would not be against a c-bill to Mc conversion if it was something insane. Maybe 10-20 mil c-bill per 50-100 mc. Personally i would lean to the larger conversion of 20mil c-bill per 50mc. Making a mech bay cost 120mil c-bill.

Either way I have no problem paying money for convenience I work alot of hours and have little time to game. So for me dropping a bit of extra cash so I can own more mechs is worth it for me in the long run.

A mech bay included with a Hero sounds perfectly reasonable.

I have always thought that mech bays for Cbills would be a nice addtion to the game. Like you said it would have to be stupid expensive if only to encourage people to buy and spend MC. I also think if you spend MC for a mech the bay it would take up should be free. Be it a hero OR a regular mech as long as you spent MC on it.

I'm going to say yes. but it should only be a daily with rewards for very very very high ranking for both free and paying members maybe not MC but some kind of unlockable

If you spent half the price of 1 month's subscription to any other subscription service game, let's say 7$ a month, 1250, enough to gain 4 mechbays a month and rapidly outstrip the need for them before long. Go up to "WOW month by month" and you're getting 10 mechbays a month. The F2P model does not mean "we are charitably creating this SOLELY for the love of the game" it means "we believe offering something fun enough which can be enhanced by microtransactions will lead people to buy from us". The key is motivating purchases. Slow GXP driving, inaccessibility of mechbays, hero variants, all are there to motivate this, and if it doesn't make money they'll have to try something more drastic.

If it wasn't this, it would be something else. Try tossing a dollar in a coffee cup on your desk each day for a month. I bet most people have a morning coffee or eat out several times a month, well, do this. Unless you are telling me you literally never have spending money, live on bread and water, and/or (more likely) leech off your parents' internet, you are not telling me you can't afford to grab like 6000 MC a month easily, and then you can buy all the mechbays you want and shut up about them.

Of course players WANT free money and I bet they want a lot of other things too - and they can go on wanting. I'll be over HERE with the people who appreciate the game's development and stompy robot fun enough to skip a few lattes each month.

Earning mechbays without using MC might be possible sometime in the future.
