Not putting hawken down. It's a mech action game while MWO is a mech simulation game. Two different things entirely.

from my time playing Hawken, this basically sums it up properly, especially the last sentence

Funny thing is, people that were saying MWO doesn't have enough content often said Hawken had more content...

But that was a lie even when both games were in really poor state.

Hawken does do a lot more advertising but has less variety. Definitely prefer MWO.

Both are in Beta and this game has inferior game modes. Relax everyone! I'm saying we need more clever game modes than "death match", seriously people this game could be hugely fun.

The OP's search terms are flawed. Many of the hits on Hawken are not referring to the game and mechwarrior is not specific enough. Simply adding "online" after the search terms sheds a little light on the matter.

if you want to compare games, dont compare it to MWO. hawken is actually just like tribes

its class based, 2 weapon, upgrade based shooter with jetpacks, and regenerating health. only it fails to deliver on the whole fast-paced thing. course playing tribes makes everything else feel slow lol
my biggest turn offs to it were it wasn't a good enough shooter, and the power difference between new mechs and vet mechs is unbearable.

both MWO and tribes have upgrade systems where you get little more power as you increase (its small things like extra ammo in tribes or faster turn rate here), but hawkens is closer to an MMO where every thing gets noticeably and measurably better from weapon damage, health, recharge speed, ground speed, in addition to the small things like turn speed.

oh and another thing that killed the game for me was the always on VOIP. that made me change my mind about VOIP in MWO. I hate tards verbally defecating in my ear all game. that is what Xbox live must be like...

i wouldn't put too much faith into those people. we have lots of dooms sayers here, and so do they. both games could have 10k people on at all times and there will still be doom sayers

Because the games have many shared users, and were both made by companies that could be considered inexperienced indies.

I feel the biggest difference is, PGI has learned a lot during the open beta period, and they've sacrificed some of the more boneheaded design decisions to get the game to a playable state. For instance, RnR was removed, and the camo system got a complete overhaul.

I play many different games, including Hawken. Always keep the options open, plenty of differing styles to games!

I actually played hawken before MWO and hawken is what reminded me that MWO existed so I can't hate on it too hard :D

I disliked how long the games took in its objective mode and its lack of customization. I much prefer MWO's pacing, customization, and just general gameplay. Taking off limbs and the different mech parts being destructable just make this game much more enjoyable for me.

In December PC Gamer listed Hawken as a Game of the Year candidate. I thought games had to be released, full Live before they were considered, but maybe it was in a new game criteria. Anyway, MWO was not mentioned so there is the reason for the spike in web searches for Hawken in December.

Is Hawken a better Mech game than MWO? I don't think so, but I am sure Hawken will be a good game. The machines in Hawken look too agile to simulate true machines. They seem more like jetpack infantry.

MWO has the Battletech Inner Sphere Houses and Clans that will eventually translate into an over arching game of planetary control. And that can be built out too.

You're insulting unreal tournament.

For one, unreal tournament is this.

Hawken is this.

You are absolutely correct actually...

Also I would watch the machinima and hope they make a "Good" hawken game some day.

The Data is obviously wrong (Hawken pre 2005???) and the trend barometer Xfire shows MWO leading Hawken by a good amount.
