As a huge mech warrior fan and someone who loves video games way too much, I was extremely excited when i first heard about this game. That excitement soon turned into disappointment after a few days of playing the game. There is no escaping the truth that this is a "pay 2 win" game. That fact alone will discourage all the casual players eventually. Yes the developers need money, but there are other ways to do it. Every game seems to turn into whoever has the most founders, wins.

Yes I expect to be flamed by founders for writing this, but I know I am not alone in seeing the truth.

So what exactly is it that I can buy that will make it easier for me to win? I'm curious to know.

Notice I'm not a founder.

I fought a game earlier where the enemy had six or seven founders on their team. They didn't win. And all founders get anyway are a mech and a bonus to C-bills gained.

If you run across a team of founders that win, it's only because they've been playing the game long enough to become very skilled at it. You can't buy skill; only earn it.

For once I must agree with Vassago.

The only thing you can only get by paying cash are Hero mechs, more mechbays, and the majority of the paint items, and neither make you win.

All mechs, equipment, skills, and modules are available for all players for no cost.

It's a common missunderstanding on the internet to think that one's own oppinion is some how "the truth" or facts.

The OP has not provided any material from which to support a constructive discussion. Stating that his truth is inescapable without providing any form of substantial content renders this thread unsuitable for the General Discussion. It is being moved down the the area of the forums where nonconstructive discussions go.

I'm not a founder. Explain to me what's P2W about MWO? Also, note that after only "a few days," you are in no way qualified to judge whether your poor experience was due to a flaw in the game, or simply your own lack of skill. Wait for Elo MM in a couple days, then try it again.

It's pay to grind less.

I understand that the initial grind can be boring.

I disagree. I just made this account last tuesday. I grinded my cadet money until I was able to get an awesome. then I played it until I was bale to buy another. Then those two to get a third. Now I have elite on all three mechs and have started on the centurions with the AL. How much money did I pay for all that, ZERO, ZILTCH, NADA. What I did pay money for was camo patterns, cockpit items, and paint schemes. I took what was left of the MC and bought 3 days worth of premium time today. Oh by the way, I'm not a founder and please don't confuse actually having to play the game as pay to play. Sometimes I wonder if people that are screaming pay to play are just lazy to play.

Please point to the evidence you have that makes this Pay 2 win.

Till then, your just someone who is butt-hurt over the poor match making system.

Awesome, so my first post gets thrown down to the trash pit due to the fact that some mod doesn't like what I have to say.

Let me elaborate. I can either spend hundreds/thousands of hours grinding to save up for an Atlas with gauss/ac 20s OR I can just pull out the wallet and buy one.

Compare this to a game like League of Legends where a cheap character can go toe to toe with a more expensive one.

Not really that upset honestly, I didn't spend $120 like some of the people here so I wouldn't be hurt if the game died off. Pretty lousy community...

ROFL!!!!!!

Yes it is true that you can spend money to buy an Atlas, but that doesn't make you win either.

Spending hundreds or even thousands of hours to grind to get a single Atlas is extremely over exaggerated.

So you know, even if you bought said Atlas, you have no cbils to buy any weapons, armor, or equipment, as a n00b you have 25 matches that will make you close to 8mil in cbils.

Like I said before, you have no evidence that this is pay 2 win, and you are only butt-hurt over poor match making.

Also this is a "Team" based game.

Incorrect yet again. You can get an Atlas with your cadet money, assuming you strive to succeed in a match versus just rushing in and dying then repeating this 25 times. I was able to pull in 11.5 mil cbills or so just from playing each match, following the team, and getting in my licks when I could. I also learned early on that I got more cbills in conquest than assault and more for assist than actual kills. So if I was able to get five or six assist per match, and our team got a nice resource bonus, I was able to get anywhere from 350k to 550k cbills per match until the last five or so.

I get it, you paid a ton of money for this game so you think it is in your best interests to attack all who disagree with you. But it's not, players are a commodity and a selling point for video games. So the more players a game can attract and keep, the better.

Just did the math and at 10 minutes per match the longest it should take is 12 hours to save up for an atlas for a new player.
