I remember back in closed beta where it was 8 man teams I and my friends decided to drop in all light and Medium mechs, but we took longer ranged weapons including several mediums with LRMs and lights with Large Lasers. It matched us with a bunch of lights and mediums and most of those were short range focused so we were able to take several out before any got within range to return fire.
Since the majority of people prefer to brawl in close I suspect it will be loaded with SRMs in most cases, but I still think one or two will consider a mobile fire support(especially now that sitting alone in the backfield is suicide for firesupport) platform handy.

Yup.
The heavy LRM launchers are too big for a medium with enough speed to stay out of trouble. Period. I laugh when I see an LRM Cent or Hunchie. They can't lob enough missiles to be more than an annoyance.
The Trenchbucket WILL be able to lob that many birds, but it won't be going fast enough to not get charged and stomped if it does.
I expect the LRMs on my Trebuchets to last about as long as they do on my cents....which is to say the first time I open the mechlab, bye bye.

How many tubes do you think you are going to populate, its still a 50 ton mech, so a lot of launcher means not a lot of engine.
It'll be like the CN9-D, fast and low firepower or slow and a good punch. Pick one.

Medium mechs are fast enough to keep optimal distance and kite woth LRMs. But heavy enough to pack a punch.

And amazingly easy to smash while you are trying to hold that TAG.
Thats why you wait for the heavies to engage before you show yourself. Just play it as a direct-fire support mech, and you should be fine. Honestly, who are you going to fight against... the cataphract / splatcat / d-dc 90 meters from you, or the LRM support mech 400 meters away?
Yes, your vulnerable while you hold tag on a target... but if your at a short enough range (400 meters or so) the flight time is quite short.

Pretty baby would make a faster, more mobile LRM platform. Even if you load the arm with 4 tubes.

Short enough to outrun a bunch of ballistics? 400m within all ballisic range all PPCs, LLas and takes a fair shot from an AC20 or Mlas.
You can try it, but people start looking when LRMs start flying around.
