I like how the Capellans are so xenophobic they don't even entertain the possibility that St.Ives players could turn against FedCom. No, once the Compact leaves the Confederation, they are alien and foreign, and cannot be trusted.

You are wrong on that. What we expect is House Davion trying to conquer the Compact once the game starts (as no higher-up can decide not to attack). So in the end it makes no difference (game wise), if the Compact is in or not, or if it is put into CapCon or FedSun space - its worlds will be the first that are fought for once the game starts.

That suits me fine. A crucible in which to forge elite warriors.

The same could be said for any of the successor states or Rasalhague. Especially of Rasalhague.

I'd like to make an additional statement to my post in page one.

Hayden, I can understand your campaign to bring the SIC into MWO as a playable faction. I do like the compact from a roleplay perspective, I just can't see it as a difference maker in such a big way that it can stand up against both, the CC and the FedSuns. It has its very loyal support among players. But those are even less then the already small player base of the Confederation Capella.

The St. Ives Compact is still a capellan nation. There is no big difference in philosophy, be it military or civilian, only a dispute in leadership. If we add this to the possible need of a more balanced playerbase between the IS nations, I can see no reason, not to integrate the Compact into the Confederation.

Please continue your quest. It may make it harder for us capellans, if we have to split our playerbase, but if it makes the St. Ives loyalists happy, it's alright with me.

We are capellan! We are the underdogs, with or without the compact players. We are up for any challenge and will prevail, no matter the odds. I would simply like it better if we fought alongside our brothers and sisters instead of against them.

Phelan Kell (3031 – 31??), also known as Phelan Ward and Phelan Wolf,

He did not retain both names. He dropped Ward and only used Kell when the warden half went to the Inner Sphere.

Per the Warden clans book(01711) Phelan is refered to as Phelan Kell when previously he was refered to as phelan ward.

Perhaps I might fight in St Ives one day but only if I join Clan Nova cat and deploy as part of the SLDF many years from now.

Nah unlikely...

Yep, they should be in.

From what I can tell at this point, the only difference in the factions is the cost of Mechs. SoI'm speculation that this is how it will work...
The mech whose factory is in a given faction would be cheaper for that faction than for the others. Like the Raven, base cost for House Liao...more for everyone else. So really we are talking about mech cost lists when talking faction choice (and Faction logo, and mech colors I would guess).

From a mech availability standpoint, they would be like Rassalhauge. Only rather than a mix of Kurita/Steiner mechs being the lower costing ones, it would be a mix of Liao/Davion mechs.

They aren't playable for the same reason as Com Star.

They do nothing at the time, exactly like Com Star and neither side can attack them, once again exactly like Com Star. ;)

Sorry Hayden, but only not making them a part of the Confederation is the most you'll probably achieve.

Never mind that during this time St. Ives is the only place the Confederation is actually fighting in? The CCAF raided the St. Ives Compact quite frequently, whereas things were relatively quiet on the other fronts. The truth is, no one was doing much more than raids during this time, there were no swaths of territory changing hands, until the Clans stepped in.

If that's the criteria, why have any factions? Considering after the end of the Fourth Succession War, pretty much only merc units were the ones getting any real action... What's the point of having any of the factions playable?

I am a 2nd St Ives Lancer - have been for a long time. I have worn many uniforms in the fight, but have remained a Lancer throughout. Fought the Clan, fought Capellans, fought the FedRats, fought the Toasters.

Loyalty is where my Regiment Commander says it should be.
