Ok so they posted ELO is back on, but they didnt say if that meant the Match Making system is in effect. Does anyone know if the Match Making system is running again since 2:30 PST? Or just ELO is back on so Wins and Loses are being tracked in unbalanced matches.

Yep, you can sometimes see a team of noobs in trial atlases vs a team of vets in medium mechs...

It's back - and doesn't work for sh*t. Seriously, nothing but shortbus teams (mine) every_single_drop. To ensure non-bias perspective, I started running with 2-3 seasoned individuals. We are getting the same results. We check comms to see if the teammates are on, they are not. It's a bloody nightmare.

Yeah, clearly you guys are elite pilots like myself. Yesterday it was clear that the matches were being fought by veteran pilots that knew what they were doing. Now It seems like the pilots I am with and against are not very good at all. I have been winning more than losing, but honestly it seems to me the devs might not be telling the truth about the Match Making. ELO is on yes. But I dont think the Match Making is working properly.

I am in no way, NO WAY, saying I'm anything special at this. But I've played around 1300 games thus far, and have been playing MMO with high coordination for what... 15 years now (chain casting EQ FTW). It's total hit or miss with the ELO the way it is.

Even if it is working, I will be piloting an Atlas every match, because I actually care about ELO and playing in good matches. And the match making system doesnt care what mech you take. I want to win, so guess what. I and the rest of my unit of very highly skilled players will do the same. And when we reach the ELO level we want to be at, then we will test mechs etc. Its not worth Testing mechs etc and going to ELO hell.

Thats all well and good if you only plan to pilot Assaults. Won't do a thing for your Light, Medium, and Heavy Elo scores.

There's tons of people with overinflated Elo scores, and they're getting the snot kicked out of them. There's going to be lopsided matches until they get pushed down the gutter.

i was goofing off and noticed that i wasn't my usual OP self...

then i had a PUG drop that felt like an 8-man... 7 minutes left on the clock / shots traded and nobody has dropped yet...

so i asked if ELO is back on - they replied YES!

Or you get what I got earlier. Some vets in mixed mediums and heavies with a lone assault vs vets in in four heavies and four assaults including three D-DCs. Lighter side got curb stomped.

If you keep playing very well and winning, you will advance into the next elo bracket (better players). Now I have a theory that if more skilled opponents to pummel your win:loss ratio back down closer to 1:1, it will attempt to compensate by sticking extra lower bracket players on your team in an attempt to drag you down to a more level w:l ratio.

Call me crazy, but this is exactly how it seems. I'll go on a 10+ game win streak, then suddenly I'm faced up against either elite teams who dominate my team, even if we're good, or I'll find myself on a team of a bunch of Rambos and people who don't seem to know their role in matches. Then after going on losing streak, I'll find myself back in games where I find myself winning more often than not. And the cycle repeats.

And it works that exact same way in LoL and Dota, too!

Bilbo, i am an expert battletech player, been playing since i was 13 on AOL. I am proficient in Lights, Mediums, Heavies, and Assaults. But I cant trust my teammates enough, even at high elo games for me to be running around in lights and mediums. The meta at high elo if you didnt know. Is Multipurpose, Assaults and Heavies. The Treb is turning into the best medium mech so far so it is viable. But most mechs on the roster are not viable for high elo competitive play. Trust me, i am damn good at this game. But Like I said, I want to always play at High ELO so I will be farming Wins in my ATLAS for at least 2 weeks. Who wouldn't do something similar? Oh and by the way, there is not Light, or Medium elo...... its just one ELO for all classes. Obviously.

Unless Bryan Eckman was trolling when he dropped into a thread at one point..... the Elo ratings are by mech class.....so each player would have at least 4 ratings.

I wasn't commenting on your skill level or lack thereof nor the intricacies of the meta game, neither of which have any bearing on the seperation of Elo scores across weight classes, as they obviously are.
