Rolls were as follows

Large Laser to Legs 1/4 = on 2d6 2-3 Got a 5

Medium laser to legs 2/4 = on 2d6 2-6 Got a 4 result roll 1d6 1, 2 = critical on knee 3, 4 = no critical 5, 6 = ankle freeze up (got a 6 which really sucked cause I wanted the leg to get sawed off :-( )

So then used blade to arms 1/2, both times successful. Didn't roll for the head, because well, knowing my luck, I would have missed the first two times, and that would have been embarrassing.

honestly i would still probably try and trample the rommel, while we are all faster than it a single shot is capable crippling half the mechs in the lance, and 3 will core me. the patton is a much more minor threat, as it takes at least 3 shots to remove an arm, 4 to remove a leg or side torso, and 5 to core me provided i am using front armor (still takes 4 to core me through the rear.). for a counter post, mind if i take out one of the pattons? run past the rommel, take an AC/10 shot to the right shoulder, tackle the thing (destroying my left shoulder small laser, plus probably 10 damage to that armor) flip over it while simultaneously kicking it up onto one track in time for the rommel to put an ac/20 round into its undercarriage?

also probably pepper the rommel with small lasers as i run past (2 hit 3 miss was the plan)

Sure, which part? The terrorization of the birder I presume?

The birder. Using TOG against himself is hilarious. Sorry Pat :P

Guessing Shep's the furthest out from the hostiles now, TOG being on the contact side of the trees from the tanks.
I'll wheel him around and close, he'll probably show up too late to be useful though. We'll see.
To confirm ranges, how far away from the barn is the birder?

Sure, sounds fine to me Dal.

guardian, I'm not too pleased with how you single handedly obliterated that Commando, and then are using the carcass for cover from the tanks.

hey Shep... see that bird? NO?! Well, it's there... go catch it for me while we fight... oh, I forgot... Shepherds are better chasing wabbits...

minimum 400 meters, and more likely 550 to 600.

thing with guardian doing that, is now the commando's SRM 6 rack is pointed straight at the center of his chest.

just make the hitting the cockpit act like the srm trigger is held down and he has to wait 2 salvos before he notices what he is being shot by.

Hey Janitor, just so you know that communication was sent to Nathan specifically not to Havok Lance as a whole. The idea was to have the pair focus their fire effectively. We specifically made plans earlier that we were going to focus fire the same target. Alan was trying to communicate his target to Fishy.

I edited it to try and make that absolutely clear, sorry for any mix up. Also I noticed wolf up there posting rolls. Are we supposed to be rolling for our attacks or is he just doing extra credit? :P

if we are supposed to be doing rolls, TOG might have actually hit that poor Commando... imagine his embarrassment...

Just a quick clarification, BattleMech engines are physically incapable of producing a nuclear explosion, but there's enough energy trapped in and around them to produce a nasty conventional explosion under the right conditions. Pat's description of the Swayback blowing up is spot on.

I cannot tell you how many times I've seen someone discover the joys of hatchets and triple strength myomer, only to end up as a pair of dismembered legs at the bottom of a shallow crater. :)

My bad, the engine cook offs in MW:LL were more akin to nuclear cook offs, so that's what I assumed them to be.
I modified my post.

guardian, next time, don't kill things in one post, that crap annoys me no end, and skirts close to the no godmode rule.

yeah, there is like a football field worth of damage radius when it explodes and holding it next to your chest when it crits is like cuddling several tons of ANFO at detonation...

I want to specifically state that what happened to the commando wasn't the engine going critical, or whatever, the detonating munitions caused the engine to explode, but not as badly as it would have.

Huzzah! And so the fray is joined. Just so you know TOG, I'm aware our flank is wide open with everyone converging on the barn. Shep's ok, but he's still a novice scout. Y'know, that and once he decided he's looking after someone, that's pretty much his focus. You might want to no-so-gently remind him that he's supposed to be keeping his eyes open. Glad the old man's on the ball though :)

Janitor, a clarificaiton question. Whenever I've done any posts by posts, I've always observed the rule that you fire your weapons at the NPCs and the GM decides whether they hit and what they do, just like a tabletop RPG. Guessing though given everyone's posts, you're ok with us effecting our weapons on target? To that effect, with the tanks, are we allowed to extrapolate how many hits each target has taken and whether we got to claim the killshot?

Just wanted to get the rules of engagement out in the open.

i think Shepherd has a good idea... with one exception and a caveat or two. The exception: if I know I have missed, I'm going to say that and move on (as TOG already has done when he missed on the Commando).

The downside is if we get into serious multi-target battles (as in an urban environment), we could easily post just three lines and then wait until the next day... rinse and repeat multiple times. Might make the flow choppier since we are all around the world.

and Shepherd, I figured you were in that mode, TOG was going to be also, but the scout in him still worries that where there is one 'Mech, there are often 3 more and TOG already feels responsible for the failure to spot the trap and avoid it. Since you are on the way and TOG is fast enough to get back out and around, he chose to let you have the glory while he gets to stretch his legs... er... 'Goose's legs... um... nevermind.
