how bout the scout assault? nothing that can drop me can keep up easily, and anything that can keep up generally would have issues dropping me. even with my current damaged state.

@Janitor: you would promote your best from Havok Lance to lead... at least one so far has watched you for direction.

Thanks all, that one could have gone either way.

I'm having a lot of fun-- this not only forces me to write on a regular basis, but I also get inspiration from eight different directions. Thanks for having me along for the ride. :P

btw, for those trying to envision the diamond TOG mentioned, in this case it would be:

....1

2.......3
....4

where 1 = TOG, 2 = The Shepherd, 3 = Shade, and 4 = Spokes. each line represents 100 m distance, and the gap between 2 & 3 is 200 m.

(edit: added the stupid periods to keep the stupid html from compressing the formation into a single column. and yes, it's done this way because i was too lazy to pull up ps or anything else to do an image in)

Also if anyone's interested in knowing, I put the company's 'mechs as accurately as possible into SSW files.

Somebody's hurting in the armor department.

Still decent little mech though. Personally I'd drop that engine size and beef up the armor. But that's just me.

could be worse, my charger only has 160 points of armor and is 25 tons heavier.

 That's a scary thought. I don't know, I have a bad habit of getting shot at so it's always helpful to have as much armor as possible. But like I said earlier, that's just me.

well, that is one advantage of being tiny... if i keep the throttle up, getting shot at isn't as much of a problem. hitting things is, but that is what the rest of you are for. ;)

why do you think my modded charger had so much extra armor? 5 extra tons makes a significant difference, however if i REALLY wanted to, i could drop all 5 small lasers and add 2.5 tons of extra armor. would leave my with no range, though against most opponents that is not insurmountable.

also, my engine weighs more than any other mech in the unit. tis why i have little armor.

The Scorpion's engine is only a half ton shy of weighing as much as a Mongoose.

Don'tcha just love all this level one tech...

Actually I don't mind standard engines, the durability often makes up for tonnage. I like my mech being able to take a beating and keep on kicking. That and the lower pricetag is nice too, those XL's are ridiculously expensive.

Dal, maybe you should splurge and get a couple of med lasers? lol

@Spokes: you were correct the first time as well, TOG also considers it appropriate to ask before actually establishing a tunneling link... so yes, when he asked that embarrassing question, it was on the same lance sub that he then used to speak to Shade and Shepherd. Not the way he wanted to be able to ask, but he felt he had no other better choice.

It can be a bit confusing at times whose speaking to whom on what line. . .I reread the bit between Shade, TOG and Shepherd and realized it could be taken either way, so I took the safe option. It works too. . .Spokes would have heard it when she played back the buffer.

One thing I did notice was TOG's comment about Spokes not responding over comms. The timeline is fuzzy and some of the events aren't locked in any particular order, but she did answer a bit before standing up. Rereading things it looks like maybe "fumbles at the comm controls" could be misconstrued, but she did manage to hit the company channel button.

Working on the response post now.
