I'm alive, I'm just in the last week of crunch mode for moving from SoCal to New Hampshire, so Packing and then a 3000 (give or take) mile drive.
I have not forgotten about this, real life is just busy driving a dump truck over me and my silly plans online.

Not to worry, Janitor, we'll be here when you get back.

Though I should probably write some kind of reaction from Nathan to imminent aerial death...hmm.

Alright, I'm not 100% settled, but I feel you guys are owed somewhat for my tardiness.
If I could have a sound off, that'd be nice, cause I've been away for a while. (Plus anyone who is still present and doesn't respond will get bombed more than likely)

Still here, still actually toying with my post for Hallwood. I'll start back up on that-- give me a few days to get back in gear?

I'm starting to get the next post written, depending on how long it takes me to get it to a point I like may take me a day or so, maybe less, kinda depends on how it turns out and how busy I am doing stuff IRL.

Still here, still kicking.

Also, can I get the GM's advice on the effectiveness of my Dervish's LRMs against the ASFs? Some of the BattleTech lore indicates that LRMs are used as AA weapons (largely by combat vehicles), presumably due to hitting over a wider area than beam or single shell weapons, while other sections favour more traditional small-calibre ACs (such as the Rifleman). In any case, I doubt Nathan will be much up to the task of hitting a such fast moving target.

i still think we should just start throwing rocks and cars and cows at them. cause hitting a car at 1000 kph sounds painful.

Well, yes, but the problem is that the car is unlikely to have any kind of internal guidance, or benefit from our targeting systems' ability to aim at things. Hitting a guided missile filled with high explosive is likely to be painful too, and much more likely.

Well, I'm still here and kicking. Was waiting for someone to give me a go ahead to post again, and hopefully some new ideas.

I'm voting for chucking cows at them. It sounds so silly, one of us HAS GOT TO try it.

Oh yeah and I'm still interested in RPing Billy Bones.

Its fine by me for LRMs to be used against air vehicles, it A: Makes sense to me. And B: Is Lore friendly as you said.
Go ahead and take some shots, I'm gonna need all the help I can to kill them off, originally this was how I was gonna kill Shade off when Guardian Wolf said he was done, but since he's back, not such a good idea anymore.

Anyone with weaponry that makes sense can take some potshots at the ASFs.

Alright, I have my Hallwood post set up and story boarded. I'll have it finalized and posted by tomorrow evening.

I imagine Li's Scorpion is going to make a tempting target from the air-- I have her getting pulled away from the group a bit and dodging bombs before taking cover in a highway tunnel.

I know a lot of the fluff focuses on the Charger's ridiculous lack of firepower, but it was built first and foremost as a reconnaissance 'Mech and it wouldn't have been mass produced like it was if it didn't have something going for it.

From the 3025 TRO:

"The multi-channel Tek BattleCom communications gear, which is heavily shielded to protect against battlefield interference, makes the Phoenix Hawk well-suited to a command/forward operations role."

The Charger also mounts a Tek BattleCom communications suite, and has the same targeting and tracking system that the Marauder uses. With the possible exception of Shepherd's Raven, Mist's Charger probably has the most capable detection gear in the group. The Charger is also likely the tallest 'Mech in the group, so Mist can see over a lot of these buildings where the rest of us can't.

Most of the time in the fluff, a 'Mech's ability to engage aircraft rests less on what weapons it mounts and more on what kind of electronics it has. The Rifleman is considered an anti-air 'Mech not because of its lasers and autocannon, but because of its sensor system. In contrast, the Scorpion's PPC out ranges and out punches anything the Rifleman carries, but its "GRNDTRK 9" tracking system isn't built for anti-air work.

Where Li is essentially fighting blind, Andrei can probably see all of the fighters in great detail on his screens. And if one of those fighters decides to do a close strafing run, the Charger's tracking system might just be fast enough to flash some armor off with its lasers.
