I've been a fan of Battletech since I was in 4th grade (that's over 14 years now) though I've never had a chance to buy many books or get deeply involved in it, so pardon me if some of my details or grasp of the lore is a little off. I'm certainly willing to learn. Hope to hear from the owner soon =]

As horrifyingly fun as an AC/20 sounds it's so excessively heavy that I won't be able to have all the weapon options I'd like. The Centurion I have planned replaces the standard AC/10 with a PPC and carries fairly heavy armor for a Centurion. I'm not sure it's overly creative, but I'm proud I came up with it nonetheless. I'm hoping it'll be versatile yet simple and great at holding a position and defending it.

Replacing AC/10s with PPCs? I approve!
On another note, Life & Death: A MechWarrior's Tale (where I've got an Enforcer with a PPC substituting for an AC/10) has a history of being fairly open. Ask Thom Frankfurt if you're interested in joining another RP.

I'm glad one of my first attempts to mess with a mech is being met with good reviews XD I'll look into the other RP as well. I had the feeling most of them were either not accepting or private.

Partly it's a firepower issue, but mainly I think the PPC restriction comes down to the fact that the campaign takes place in the Periphery and replacing weapons like that is a major refit. BattleMechs aren't OmniMechs-- modifying them is very hard.
If you're dead set on the PPC, you may want to consider a Griffin or Vindicator.

I'd like to hope my character has a good reason to have a PPC. The really long story short is that he's a former Fed Com pilot who abandoned his post and took his mech when he became fed up with having nothing to do but guard backwater planets. My argument for why the 'mech was refitted this way is that the PPC is more efficient than an AC/10 for the duty of protecting a minor planet. It is just as capable of putting down any rebellions as an AC/10 but without the cost of ammunition. The only other threat would be if some invasion happened in which case the garrison wouldn't be forced into a protracted defensive situation and not requiring ammo would allow the 'mech to better hold out until support arrives. Basically the argument is that the AC/10 is superior to the PPC if you're expecting to go toe to toe with an enemy 'mech in a reasonably fair fight which is not at all what my character's duties were when presented with the 'mech.
If he REALLY doesn't like me having the PPC I'll just use the standard variant I suppose, but I definitely want to stick to the Centurion. I chose it specifically because I wanted a 'mech that would be more readily available to a Fed Com (the Vindicator for example is far more common to Capellan soldiers). Of all the 'mechs available that might be available to Fed Com soldiers, the Centurion struck me as having a good variety of fire power and being versatile.

A large medium pair? Could you be more specific, I'm still learning a lot about how all this work XD The specific variant that I'm proposing has 15 heat sinks (including the 10 in the engine).

Personally I think AC's give him a woody. But that being said, PPC's give me a woody. I just think that there is just something badass by zapping fools with a 'lightning gun.' But to each his own. Lore wise, I know that the good folks in the FWL have an obsession with laser weapons. But ultimately it's his barbeque/game and it's what he wants.

I let a few things slip rules wise, such as dal10's assault mech, which only got in cause the best thing it has going for it is the huge engine, as well as the Corrosive DHS's Thom signed up with, and a TAG laser here and there. But I mostly let that through for flavor, because if there was absolutely no LosTech, it'd almost not be as realistic, IMHO, cause there'd be that one guy with X, Y or Z that is irreplaceable.
Now, as for signing up, I'd personally prefer another light mech, cause we have four 55 ton mediums, two lights (35 tons and 25 tons) and one 80 tonner assault. However if you have your heart set on the Centurion, I won't stop you (TBH, the Centurion is my favorite in MWO). However I'm not willing to allow major LosTech weaponry such as PPCs, Pulse Lasers and the like. In the next part, I'll loosen the rules up.
