Have always felt something was off about the stock mech color. and decided to investigate

"Basic Green" looks tacky and sticks out like a sore thUmb. The color more closely used by the military and previous mechwarrior is MWO's "camo green"

it looks tons better. and it would add to immersion to see unpained mechs in this color rather than the standard "basic green.

Basic Green:

This is also the same shade of green used in all previous mechwarrior games.

Update

for those who care. the ugly olive green is very much intentional way to motivate people to buy camo.

The color they give us once we buy the mech "basic green":

The color they advertise their mechs in. "camo green"

I'd rather see mechs come with random colors and paint jobs. After all, by this time, most mechs aren't new, they are used.

Feel free to buy it and repaint yours.
<_<

Really though, if they're going for an unpainted look, they should come in a bare metal color like a silver or gray.

yeah. thats what i thought too. but it bothers me that the majority of mechs we see around are the wrong color. since most people dont paint their mechs.

Also i dont think people buy paint just to look standard

Yeah, a primer gray, or some horrendous spray can looking paint job that makes you want to change the color because it's so freakin ugly stock.

Olive Drab is a very common default color for military vehicles, depending on country and usage.

They could just as easily come camo pink, green or yellow.

Or a base light gray.

None are "wrong". Olive Drab is what they chose and well, it sure does motivate repaints.

The only good camo color is the one according the landscape.

That why if stock mech were yellow red and blue their color would be as right as the current camo or the ugly usa green camo.

Right... Wrong... I am not sure i catch the drift.

I think they are all panted a drab green to encourage people to buy some paint... Not to have it work as a sort of camo on green worlds...

Now if they said "we have based the paint of (army X)" then you might have had an argument.

I'd guess right in this case is the same as "the color PGI" paint them in and wrong would be "hot pink" =P

Thats a bad idea, I cant see my own mech so im not going to repaint it. Have fun looking at my ugly as hell mech all game while i get to look at your nicely painted one that you payed money for, that you cant see.

I actually prefer that to the horrible green colour that they are now.

Camo doesn't even really help you blend in in this game. It's kind of pointless.

I just wish that we had some stock colours for free and then had to pay for other ones. As it is, all my mechs are likely to be default green for a long time.

Use some google-fu and see if you can still redeem the PC gamer skin for free black, red and white paint.

Perhaps my google-fu is weak, but it looks like that is now closed.

You can't hide a mech only with colors in this game. So for me the colors are only for fun.

I actually think the stock one is a reasonable attempt at just that..
