Project Phoenix Mechbays

If they are normal bays, and you can delete unwanted mechs from them and fill them with others, that's one thing. If they're proprietary bays that will ONLY hold the mech they came with, that's quite another.
So if someone buys Overlord do they have 12 useable bays, 8 useable and 4 proprietary, or what exactly?
*****
Also, can you sell either or both the phoenix mechs and/or standard variants, or just delete them without getting cbills, or what? Equipment off of them sellable as usual?

The other 8 mechs you get will be purchasable with in-game money eventually, so I'd imagine you can empty those bays as per normal. So, if I had to guess I'd say you get 4 locked bays and 8 usable bays.

Point is with overlord you get a lot of mechs (only 4 with bonuses), and only a couple of the others will be useful. If those bays are dead, then the package isn't the deal it appears to be.

I'd say the Phoenix mechs can't be sold but the normal variants can.. freeing up that bay.

This. Most likely.
I'll probably just use the variants to master the phoenix, then sell the variants (aside from the clearly superior ones, that is).

I have sold my fair share of c-bill purchased mechs (just dumped my 9K Victor yesterday). And only regretted it once or twice. But selling something I have spent real money on when I am getting imaginary currency for it just seems like I am cheating myself.
Right now I am trying to resist spending cbills on anything between now and then. It's going to be an epic day when we get all 12 mechs at once. I know I will be needing to upgrade engines on the TBolts based off my past experiences with Jagers and 'Pults. Also I will be fitting a STD 400 on the Battlemaster, California or broke.

None of the mechs can be sold/deleted.
Mech bays can ONLY hold the mech they came with.
Glad I didn't buy before hearing from them. Too bad for them, I was ready to grab the Overlord until now.
The package still isn't awful, just in premium time you get roughly $50 worth with OL. However, if you weren't planning to buy that time anyway it's not savings, just spending. That leaves paying $80 for 12 mechs, figure only 4-6 of them might have been bought anyway, and 4 loyalty medallions (that you may or may not care about). You can buy at least the standard variants on your own with cbills, so the only cost your saving is 1200-1800 mc on the bays. For $80.
The package went from being a rational expenditure to being purely cosmetic 'money to burn'.
Finally, SHAME ON PGI for advertising this as 'coming with mechbays'. That infers that you'll actually HAVE the mechbays. You don't. The mechs just don't REQUIRE bays. This is right on the cusp of false advertising/baiting.

I never even thought about this, it does not change anything for me. I like the quarterly pre-ordering of mechs to get them early. November and December I am always hella busy with school and can't play so it's nice to get my 65 tonner earlier when I can actually play it.
The main concern I have had in the back of my mind has been what other variants we are getting? If PGI ends up offering more than 3 for each chassis, then which other 2 variants do we get? I doubt we can choose the other 2. I would hate to have one mech I really want not be among the ones I get for the Phoenix package.

Hello Kristin **********,
At this time the plan is that none of these Mechs can be sold. The idea is to avoid giving away free Mech Bays. That said, this could change at a future date.

What is the situation with the mechbays that come with the various
mechs/packages.
Are the Phoenix mech bays locked to just the Phoenix mechs (as I understand
the founders to be)? How about the standard variant bays? In other words,
can we sell/delete either/or, and be left with a bay to purchase any mech
we choose (say a Jenner, or hero mech, or whatever)?
I'm considering purchasing the Overlord, but only if at least the standard
variant bays are normal bays, and not locked to specific mechs.

You are absolutely right - this would be borderline misrepresentation on PGI's part - particularly since nearly ALL forums posters advocating the package have mentioned that the normal variant mechs can be sold. PGI have done NOTHING to say otherwise to counter any of those posts and this is their official forums.
Needless to say this would be a real *********** for them.
Sure it should have been caveat emptor but this whole game is based on an established practice of being able to sell normal variants and that's what most people bought the package thinking they could have done with the normal variant mechbays.
No, I'm confident that the higher ups realise this and what an uproar it would create if this were confirmed. I'd be pissed.
Besides this is not the first time that low-level support have got information wrong and said exactly the opposite of what Paul and the upper management have said.
If not a very public campaign will get the end result - we did it for the premium time launch button and we did that without getting pissed off.

Not being able to actually sell the other mech's if I don't use them is lame.

That's incredibly shittty of them.
Pretty sure my $80 disqualifies those mechbays as being "free"

I really hope this turns around, because on top of it all I now feel dirty for helping misrepresent the underlying values of the packages in discussions on other sites...

I say wait until multiple staff comment on it and make it official before signing it off, since it makes no sense why they would not let us sell the standard varients once they've been mastered.
