This is great idea. However a limit of sorts would need to be imposed, as larger units would be able to donate more than the smaller ones and we wouldn't want to see NGNG show too much favoritism. But it would be another great way for some of the smaller ones to be seen and recognized. There could be an "NGNG Encounters" video, along with an "NGNG Endorsers" one, featured each week or something like that. I think this would be another great way for NGNG to receive funding for their great efforts in MWO coverage.

As far as doing something for charities, it would need to be of a larger scale of sorts, to accumulate enough funds for a viable donation. Maybe something along the lines of a best video production contest in which submitters donate an entrance fee. With Fraps and some of the other real-time video capture software that is available, there are alot of members of Units using it for training purposes and such. Obviously just a simple video of their game play would not be enough. It would have to include an intro, gameplay, and a closing. Something for them to think about for sure.

Has the NGNG Teamspeak server info been updated on the original post since the change a couple weeks ago?

It has not, I will have to yell at Phil about that. For those wondering the new TS info is:

Address: voip01.n1585.hypernia.net:9992
Password: mechwarrior

It is correct over at the UNOFFICIAL & COMMUNITY-RUN VOICE CHAT SERVERS thread though!

Hi there NGNG,

On this weeks Ask the Devs (no.29) far and away the leading question has been this one: http://mwomercs.com/...ost__p__1598770

It has received 125 likes at last count, which is a factor of almost 8x higher than the second highest question.

It cuts to the core of how balance is being handled in the game, and now that we are in open beta with ad banners all over the place trying to get new blood in, I would like you to ask the devs if they are worried about these giant balance shifts turning off new players.

The underlying question is still 'why does the ECM do so damn much for 1.5tons' but hey, I'd rather hear the answer to the former question.

Thanks in advance, and keep up the great podcasts - I'll still be listening even if you don't include my question :(

Update Holiday information

We hope everyone enjoys the holidays & New Years with family & friends! We just wanted to let everyone know the upcoming schedule of NGNG so that you guys are aware of a few things.

Dec. 22nd – IGP Twitch Play with PGI & NGNG
Dec. 24th – Comic #11 goes live & NGNG Holiday Newsletter
Jan. 2nd – Podcast #56 Recording
Jan. 9th – Podcast #57 Recording
Jan. 10th – Mechs, Devs & Beer #6 Recording

Tentatively we will be going live with Podcast’s: 54, 55 & MD&B 5 – Why are these not out yet? How long does it take to edit a podcast? Well that is a loaded question, but let’s look at a few key factors:

First & most importantly, Daeron & Phil are trying to get NGNG to be their main job. We still have not hit this goal, but we are working toward it each day. So that being said, the editing podcast’s come second in their lives because at the end of the month there are bills to pay and families to take care of.

Secondly, editing a podcast isn’t just taking out the mistakes. As many of you know, the end product sounds and feel’s different then the live recording. We are not all in the same place and recording on Teamspeak 3, albeit the best solution currently, is not the ideal situation for perfect audio recording. It takes around 20+ hours to get a final podcast done and out to you guys, and that is the idle editing scenario.

We are very grateful you guys are patient, and we know your excited to get a new podcast and listen to it at work etc. After the holidays we are taking on a different recording/editing schedule that should fit very well. We plan to record on Wednesday’s for the normal podcast and have it out by Friday, that is a 48hr turnaround. Mechs, Devs & Beer will be recording on Thursday’s still, but will be released the following Monday, this gives us some freedom to enjoy the weekends with family.

Our new website will be going live after the New Year, we have invested some time and effort into making it more functional then the current. We know that streamlining things makes life easier for you to get information quickly and know where to go if you need specific information on the website. The new website will include; overall improvement in functionality, a new store system that will allow us to put items at a lower cost to everyone and the ability to track inventory, better placement of sponsored units links (Phil said he wanted to give you guys front page space and he did it). We are also looking at including a Forum of some sorts, in which the website and the forum are able to tie into each other for improved accessibility!

We are also looking at going live with some new content in the near future, as we get closer to these launching we will inform you of what they are and how we are going to tackle them. Have a great holidays and we thank you so much for supporting NGNG, it is amazing to see where we have come in over a year!

What do you guys think of an NGNG data feed via the ingame computer/Betty voice?

So you could get misc facts when you hit 'R' to target a mech (variant info, date of manufacture, loadout, etc...).

Also, since reputation is such a huge part of the BT universe, even some pilot info (K.D.R, group affiliation) they could pull it off of the Profile section in the C3 voice app (with a few tweaks).

It may be helpful for new players and a way for the devs to help steer new players (all players actually) to groups, tactics, voice usage, etc...

(plus it could be our first MC micro-transaction, 10 MC/month?).

Your Podcasts be sort of a compulsive event to me. :)

Have seen your Friday Twitch Events too now over the holidays.
Regarding to them and that i guess you be a somewhat influential group to the Devs i miss you or your Co-Hosts or Groupmates playing roles like LRM-Support.
You speak often about the strengths and weaknesses of your builds but the absence of some Mechs and Roles limits the knowledge transfer somewhat. ;)
