you do know the HBK-IIC is one of the most spectacularly BAD mechs ever designed, right? Two big guns, and JJs...... with tissue paper armor, 5 total rounds between then (oh boy 7 rounds in MWO!!!!) and literally no room to actually improve it to make that feature work.

Maybe with 2x Ballistic in each torso, AC in one side, dual MGs in the other, and the standard load-out of lasers... With JJ, could become a very nice light hunter....

Big hunch - 2 Ballistic, other side 1 missile rack, center torso 1 energy, energy on the arms and two energy on the head instead of just one. Call it the Taurus or something since the lasers on the head will make it look like it has horns. Total of 5 energy, 2 Ballistic and one missile.

And where is the extra crit slot for the second head laser going to come from? :P

Yea, the Hunch IIC is where clanners send old Mechwarriors to die. They figure the less capable pilots can inflict some serious damage before they run out of ammo and die.

This begs the question...How many Hunch IICs do the clanners have? LOL. They must flow off the assembly line like water over a waterfall.

In anycase, a similar build might be OK if you are running dual A/C5s (which you can do in the 4G anyway).

1 Ballistic and 2 Missile slots in the hunch, 2-4 energy slots in the arms, 1 energy slot in the head.

Since I won't get the pure awesomeness that I suggested, how about a head mounted ballistic slot, so I can snipe with an AC/2 over hills?

  • 1 ballistic in each side torso and JJs.
  • 4 SP but with 4 2 tube missle launchers & JJs or ECM, larger engine
  • 1 High mounted ballistic and energy on the other side with JJs.
bout all I can think of.

i really like the second one. I ran a 4 ssrm2, 4 medium pulse laser jumping ecm hunchy in tt and it was a blast!

I will agree on the probability of it being a 4SP-like hunchie and have dual ballsitic, low-profile hunches (incapable of AC/20's) with a couple missle hardpoints, maybe 1-3 lasers and MAYBE JJ's. ECM wont happen.

Good idea would be like:
LA - 1E
LT - 1B 1Mx4Tube
Head 1E
RT - 1B 1Mx4Tube
RA - 1E

Maybe 2B in each ST? I wouldn't mind a build like 3ML 4MG 2 SRM4's

I'd buy that in a heartbeat.

I'm not sure how likely ballistics in both STs is. Gotta be very careful with that one, or both the 4G and 4H become completely redundant. Hunchies running a big XL and 2 AC/10s? Possibly a bit OP.

Ballistics in both arms is possibly more likely. No chance of 2 AC/20, and no ridge-humping. However, it might knock out the Centurion instead!

I'm not sure whether to expect ballistics, missiles and lasers. It feels less OP, but I was holding out a hope that the 4N might make it into the game as a standard variant at some point.

2 torso ballistic not as big as you think as it's pretty much impossible to make a viable build with larger than twin 5s, maybe uacs, due to the tonnage. 50 tons mech, even with an XL only has so much tonnage available. At max, you can get about 25 tons of weaponry.

But if I could mount a uac in each torso, and have the usual 3 lasers hard points in the head and arms, that would be pretty cool, IMO.

Agreed, that's why I think that an SP that replaces all of the missile hardpoints with 1 ballistic in each side torso is a reasonable hero.

For the guy who thought twin AC/10s would be OP... you can fit 2 of them with an XL255, moderately stripped armor, and 2 tons of ammo. No backup weapons. And at 32 points of armor per leg, you're going to get legged. A lot. Barely viable... not even close to OP.

I don't think it will be something like the 4SP, that was always an odd duck and did not fit the whole Hunchback theme.

Sure, PGI could do whatever it wanted but they did skip an interesting one, the 4N, Still a lot of RT weapons with stock 8 spots but it mixes 1B, 2M with 5E on the same frame.

I would also fin a JJ Huncie interesting and it would be very valuable even with fewer weapon slots. Even 1B in the RT and JJ, give it a UAC or Gauss for poptarts and it is shoulder mounted so no need to expose yourself too much when popping.

Unless there's a JJ hunchy that's accessible, you're might tread on an imbalance if a hero hunchy had JJs.

Having JJs on any Hunchy would make it a crazy version of the ShadowHawk and you already know how popular they are...

So, just to throw it out there...
  • Standard Structure
  • full set of actuators in each arm
  • 200 STD Engine
  • 12 DHS (x8 in Engine, x2 in LT, x2 in RT)
  • no jump capability
  • maxed-out Standard Armor
  • Starting Weapons: x1 Small Laser (Head), x2 PPCs (1 in LT, 1 in RT), x4 Machine Guns (x2 in LA, x2 in RA) with 2 tons of ammo (x1 in LA, x1 in RA)
  • Hardpoints: x3E (x1 in Head, x1 in LT, x1 in RT), x4B (x2 in LA, x2 in RA), x1 AMS (in LT)
  • Arms: 30-degree pitch, 25-degree yaw
  • Torso: 20-degree pitch, 120-degree yaw
The alternate version switches out the Standard Armor for Ferro-Fibrous and shaves a bit off of each leg in order to accommodate two additional DHS (one in each side-torso).

Thoughts?
