So I guess just **** me for building muscle memory (and a macro that lowers my sensitivity while SHIFT is held and arms are locked) - "arm lock" in the options is now a pointless radio button only setting the default behavior at the beginning of a match?

Mess with literally whatever you want PGI, but don't **** with my control scheme. You had no reason to. It should have been that way from day 1, but since it was established it shouldn't have been changed. Now I have to break a habit and re-learn a new habit because of this morning's patch.

That was a bad decision. You should have just removed the word toggle from that control option, and added another for an arm lock toggle.

Both is always better.

Yeah, I'd like an option.

I hadn't the opportunity to test it, but I geared it would turn out like that.

I wan't the option too. Every modern shooter has it: "Duck = Button X" "Toggle Duck = yes/no".

Sounds like they just made it what it should have been previously, which was a toggle.

Basically just means I need to remove the macro I had set up for toggling it.

I'm absolutely hating the new arm lock mechanics..

Please change back, or give us an option!

+1

I just unbound my key for toggle arm-lock. Kept pressing it (spacebar). I play rather with unlocked arms all the time instead of accidentally locking my arms.

Please hot-fix it!

Why would they REMOVE a hold-to-toggle feature in favour of a push to toggle feature?

WHY NOT JUST ADD IT ALONGSIDE?! WTF!?!?!?!?!?

I like armlock almost exclusively for pressing shift (Armlock enable) just for a pinpoint strike against something and release again so my arms are free to track and hit moving targets.

Now if I hold shift...nothing happens but if I let go of shift I'm given the impression my lower arm actuators suddenly disappeared. It's very inconvenient.

Why give us a new mechanic, but remove the previous mechanic? They have done this before then gave us the old version back in addition. Why can't they just ADD the new option!? A press-hold version AND a toggle version.

But it's no harder for me to just hit it twice.

Armlock probably shouldn't even exist in the first place. It was introduced to help nubcakes avoid getting confused by the dual reticule system, but in actual gameplay it had the opposite effect. Noobs with armlock turned on get crushed helplessly. They have no ability to track targets, even slower ones, and can't twist away as fast when getting shot at.

Armlock currently only helps experienced players who use it to exploit convergence with their torso and arm mounted weapons, particularly while firing long-range weapons while airborne...

1) People complain that arm lock isn't a real toggle
2) PGI makes arm lock a real toggle
3) People complain that arm lock is now a real toggle.

To think I actually wanted to be a game developer one day...

Players want lots of options.

Real arm lock toggle
Hold arm lock button
The ability to not drop against people with arm lock toggle
The ability to only drop against people with arm lock toggle

Etc.

No one said players were reasonable. :P

It's not unreasonable that they would simply add an extra option, which would hardly be more effort than changing it (and antagonising people unnecessarily).

Lets have the option for hold to unlock / lock back please.

I agree, sometimes I just want arm lock for a half second while aiming up a snap shot over a ridge or around a corner.

And that's likely why it was changed.
