Hey folks,

Regarding this image



A German user indicated that the language on them is incorrect, and another user said it was fine.

"Krabben Klaue" is right.

"Schnappe Schnappe" is wrong "Schnapp Schnapp" would be right.

Depends on what you want to say... "Schnappe, Schnappe" would be the imperative form of "schnappen" like in: "Schnappe ihn!" translated : "snap him!"
"Schnapp Schnapp" is a Onomatopoesis of the sound a crab makes. I think that is what you wanted to make.

In german the most common translation for crab claw is "Krabbenschere" (word by word translation " crab scissors"),
Krabbenklaue isnt a common word but everyone will understand what it means.
Just google and look at the pictures for confirmation.

Not the most common translation! The word "Krabbenklaue" doesn´t exist in german. In german crabs do have "scissors".

So: The german words have to be: "Krabbenschere" and "Schnapp Schnapp" or "Schnipp Schnapp".

Rübe ab, würde wohl mit köpfen überzsetzt, es wäre dann eher sowas wie: "snap, snap, behead(ed) " mit verschluckten ed um dem Reim zu folgen.

Umgangssprachlich wird jeder verstehen was mit Krabbenklaue gemeint ist, biologisch gesehen isses natürlich falsch.

Anyhow, impo, I would remove the "Schnapp,Schnapp" it sounds a bit... ehm.. childish. Something like "Hier Öffnen" or "Viel Bums" would achieve a similar effect, be comedic and would work along the line with your other humorous mech skins.

Well I admit that "Krabben Klaue" isn't the most common or maybe biological correct term (though I did not check my Campbell book).

Still if you talk about some big monstrosity like this 100 ton metal giant I think is legit to talk about "Krabben Klaue" like in "in den Klauen des Monsters/In the monsters claws". So calling it a mere Krabbenschere sounds like an understatement and also would break the alliteration.

Same goes for "Schnipp Schnapp" which typically is an Onomatopoesis of the sound small scissors would make compared to the more hammering sound of giant claws which could be better expressed by "Schnapp, Schnapp"

So I think "Schnapp, Schnapp" & "Krabben Klaue" are fine.
Whereas "Schnipp, Schnapp" & "Krabbenschere" would also be correct yet belittle the hazardous aspect of 100 ton mechanical claws.

I also would welcome those inscriptions to be optional decals that can be turned on and off again instead of beeing fixed parts of what I do recognize as the Lyran Guards parade pattern. It feels kind of odd that each and every one of the pilots has the same slogan on his mech. Also it would give room for more options to individualize the mechs, as I also could imagine other slogans like "Dosenöffner/Can opener" or simply no slogan to be wanted.
