Simply, if someone TKs they should count as an enemy to all, similar to WoT. I killed a TK'er and was penalized for it as if I was the problem.

You can fix the issue if you go to control panel > add/remove programs > mechwarrior online > uninstall

Interesting....... TKer becomes a target for everyone, once the TKer is dealt with the game ends and everyone but the TKer is rewarded. I like that :D :P

How is it a bad idea? It works for WoT, you don't see nearly as many troll accounts or TKers over there. In WoT once someone kills a teammate they turn from green to blue and pretty much everyone unloads on them.

I think something to dissuade tk'ing should be implemented. I'm sick of having my rear armour vaporized by a conga line of team mates cowering behind me.

You don't want to encourage team killing even when it's the right thing to do. What you are proposing would mean that after you destroyed the team-killer other members would then kill you for a reward and chain off from there since the team is already down 2+ players.

Besides killing a TKer is reward in itself.

MechWarrior Online is a game where you can TK without seeing who you accidentally killed.
BattleMaster + Zoom + Low Gauss Rifle + Oblivious but friendly Locust = Dead Locust.

I wouldn't bother. TK Targeting is going to produce more drama, not less.

Do you drive an Assault mech? If so that is your lot in life, to be the meat shield, if you drive a lighter mech......... well I can't help you with that issue. :D

I have seen like 2 intentional tks in about 4000 games on mwo.
And sure, its a wonderful idea, remove not 1 but 2 people from your team - 1 tker has managed to not only piss someone off, but pretty much guarantee a loss.

It's an awful idea.

Problem: There are two different types of team killers.

Type one: The jerk. They TK for the lulz or some other reason, but they intentionally TK. I have no problem with this type getting ganged up on by everyone else.

Type two: The accidental murderer. You fire a volley, and that Firestarter with no back armor jumps between you and the target. You're now a team killer. This type is the problem with this kind of solution.

Back in the day, I played on MUDs. They had a Player Killer flag, where if you attack another player, you becamed flagged. Everyone on the server was alerted to the flag, and anyone was then allowed to attack and kill you without getting flagged themselves. A constant problem was that it was really easy to get flagged as a PK as a mage, using area of affect spells. Cast the spell, another player walks into the room, boom your flagged.

There were players that would do nothing but wait for someone to get flagged, just so they could PK without getting flagged themselves. Even if the person that originally got attacked proclaimed it accidental, they would still hunt you down just to get to kill another player.

Point is, it creates an encouragement to kill teammates, even when the original TK was accidental. I can see griefers working in pairs. One keeps jumping in your line of fire, so that the second can then TK you without penalty.

I think you misunderstood. A TK'ers status would change so that killing them would not be TKing. They wouldn't be on anyone's team anymore.

If anyone has other ideas, please share them.

What happens when you're using missiles and mid stream an accidental TK happens as someone runs into them, should I then be food for the rest the team?

Of course, you should have stopped your missiles midstream, it's your fault :P

The game I had the guy had killed 3 people by the time I killed him. So, yeah we lost. Maybe it'd only be in effect at the start or something to save accidental TKs.

If you have an better idea, share it. At the very least I shouldn't be penalized for dispensing justice.

I'm not going to say my behavior is always 100% by-the-book, but technically you should have simply ignored that player and reported them later.

I got into a fire fight with a teammate once. I had typed in chat that I found his game name extremely inappropriate (It was VERY racist). He reacted by talking smack and then firing a few shots into my back. I retaliated and the next thing you knew, the rest of our team was dead and the enemy crested a nearby hill to find us two idiots fighting each other. Needless to say the enemy made short work of us. Long story short, that player shouldn't have had a racist name, but I also should not have taken it upon myself to "dispense justice." We ended up wrecking the match for the rest of our team by removing ourselves completely from the fight. So the team had to suffer the consequences of me doing the wrong thing even though my intentions were good.

Don't do it. Just report it.
