Before you comment, on this thread or in the following polls, please consider this:

Before any of you go off into my polls saying that I want mechs nerfed, no, I don't.

I'm doing a phase, so PLEASE, read before saying anything that I want "this" or "that"

Many people were angry over the Timber and Crow nerfs because, not of the values, but because of not being warned at all, not a little tip or suggestion at all said by PGI.

I have begun to make polls deciding which clan mechs will need a nerf and buffs, and won't.

You all have the option of: YES, MAYBE, and NO.

Currently, These are the choices on mechs that need nerfs:

Warhawk: http://mwomercs.com/...21#entry4449121

Hellbringer: http://mwomercs.com/...ning-on-quirks/

Dire Wolf: http://mwomercs.com/...tions-on-nerfs/

Currently, These are the choices on mechs that need buffs:

Summoner: http://mwomercs.com/...oning-on-buffs/

Dire Wolf: http://mwomercs.com/...oning-on-buffs/

Warhawk: http://mwomercs.com/...oning-on-buffs/

Currently we have topics with the balance of:

Ice Ferret: http://mwomercs.com/...ing-on-balance/

Following mechs will follow for buffs:

Mist Lynx

Adder

Nova

Gargoyle

Mech that have not been decided yet:

Vulture

Some mechs will be chosen for nerfs/buffs first. Later, some will be asked again (the ones that have been chosen for nerfs) if they need buffs.

This is Phase 1 of 3, that being:

P1: Determine buffs/nerfs of clan mechs

P2: Determine Buffs/Nerfs of Inner Sphere mechs

P3: Determine if IS and Clan mechs are buffed/nerfed appropriately to balance.

This is to balance the damnable forumwar, to show how many people actually want it to happen or not rather than just many major topics.

Well, how is the direwolf any better than the king crab?

Currently, Only 4 will be opened per day to prevent an overflow in suggestions.

Way more firepower if using the good loadouts (i.e. 6 UAC/5 or 2 Gauss + 6 ERML + 2 ERLL). The Whale can also use XL safely, while the Crab has to either use STD engine for durability or use XL for tonnage at the cost of durability.

The Crab has better agility and more loadout variety.

This makes the Crabby Patty more pug-friendly, but in a super-organized setting the Whale's mobility weakness can be negated by good positioning and not wandering off alone. The Whale is "technically" superior even if the Crab is more suited for chaotic/random pugging.

Oh okay so it's only "technically" superior. That sounds like a good reason to nerf it into the ground.

Because you know, the crab being more agile and having greater weapon flexibility totally wasn't the driving force for some recent nerfs to a couple of clan mechs.

Actually, it IS the value. I.S. mechs got nerfed 2.5% while the Clan got nerfed up to 21%. That seems pretty excessive. They say they're trying to reduce the laser vomit play style, but haven't given any incentive to switch over to the ballistics. Russ twitted something about reducing the spread between projectiles, but we'll just have to wait and see.

Yeah man, clan laser vomit is the devil. IS laser vomit is okay.

The crab also has IS ac/20 which are much more effective except the gauss build on the dire, especially combined with large pulse lasers which I find just as good anyway. Just not as much range.

Why do they need nerfs?
They are frakking assaults.

You forgot to include the option to buff the assaults and rather change the game. Yeah, you are thinking all wrong.

Some of you may try to argue that I'm not being fair.

I am, I'm going through steps so that not everyone has it shoved down their gillet.

It's really easy - all mechs on the enemy team need huge nerfs and the mech I'm driving needs large buffs.

This thread needs to die...

I've got clan tags, now. But until 3 days ago I was IS since there were factions... I NEVER had any trouble killing Timbies, or Storm Crows... And Dire Wolves shrivel infront of the glory of my King Crab 000(L).

Warhawk needs nerfs? Really? I picked that mech for my prize in the event it was given away... I basic'd it, and sold it... I hated that mech. It does NOT need nerfs of any kind, though it could stand some light buffing.

The clan mechs are fine... Tuukkayyid showed the balance beautifully, almost a 50/50 split... So why are we trying to rebqlance the game? Meta? There are always configurations that are arguably better than others.... That's always been true of Mechwarrior. What's also true, is that it's boring to pilot the same mechs over, and over... And some people can do better with different mechs. And as new content arrives, old meta will fade away...

I can't believe how much this community whines frivolously.
