MECHWARRIOR ONLINE

April 2022 Patch Notes

Patch Date and Time - April 19th 2022 @ 10AM – 1PM PDT
Version Number: 1.4.253.0
Size: 180 MB
Please note that due to compression differences the Steam patch size may be larger than the standalone client patch size.

Greetings MechWarriors!

This month's update adds 8 new shiny 'Mechs to the Platinum Collection, and also includes Weapon and Equipment adjustments, the 9th Quirk Pass, some adjustments to previous Quirk passes, and some bug fixes.

If you find this patch a bit smaller thank you were hoping for, don't worry we'll make up for it next month! Check out what's coming in this Roadmap Dev Vlog and this 'Mechs, Maps, and Design Update Dev Vlog.

Also be sure to check out the first new 'Mech chassis coming to MWO in over 3 years, the Crusader!

As with everything, these updates are subject to further balance changes in the future, especially as more variables are brought into the equation with future updates and changes.

So get out there and do the science, and get us your feedback for future iterations!

And now, we hope you enjoy the patch.

-The MechWarrior Online Team

PLATINUM COLLECTION

One new Inner Sphere and one new Clan pack (8 'Mechs total) have been added to the Platinum Collection.

INNER SPHERE PACK
Mauler MAL-MX90(P)
Black Knight BL-6B-KNT(P)
Crab CRB-27SL(P)
Wolfhound WLF-1A(P)

CLAN PACK
Mat Cat MKII MCII-B(P)
Nova Cat NCT-B(P)
Arctic Wolf ACW-A(P)
Cougar COU-H(P)

WEAPON AND EQUIPMENT HP ADJUSTMENTS

After a year of tuning weapons stats and getting closer to a settled balance state, another aspect that we always wanted to address was weapon and equipment health values. Mainly based on the weapon type (primary weapon, secondary weapon, filler, etc), slot size, required crit damage to take one out, and minimum amount of HP required to save certain weapons from known amount of incoming damage. The following changes should help players keep their equipped items for a while longer after having a component opened up. It should be noted that the values are picked in a way so crit seeking weapons such as LBX cannons and MGs are still the most effective weapons for taking out internals and equipment, with MGs in the queue for receiving a pass on the amount of critical damage they apply coming next month. Weapon base stats tuning will continue as we monitor weapons and build performance.

Patch Files (Direct Download)

To make the patching process easier for players with limited download caps, we'll be providing direct download links for the patch file(s) that comprise this patch. This will allow you to download the patch file(s) elsewhere, for manual injection into the MWO patcher through a Patch Cache folder.

Aside from allowing you to download the patch file(s) elsewhere, on another connection, there are no additional benefits to performing the patch this way; the patching process itself will be the same.

This direct patch download process will only work for players running the standalone client. It does not apply to players running MWO through Steam.

Patch File(s): - http://patcher.mwomercs.com/patch/Production/frontend/FrontendPatch_399.zip

  • Download the above file(s)
  • For sake of ease, we recommend creating a dedicated folder for the patch file(s), such as 'MWO Patch Cache'
  • You do not need to unzip or unpack the patch file(s)
  • Launch the MWO Portal
  • Select the three horizontal lines in the top left of the Portal Window
  • Choose the 'Specify Patch File Cache' option
  • In the field that appears, paste or enter the location in which you saved the patch file(s) and hit OK
  • For example, C:\Users\<username>\Documents\MWO Patch Cache
  • Click the blue Patch button
  • The launcher will now check the Patch Cache folder you defined. If it locates the required patch files, it will unpack and use those files to apply the patch.
  • Once the patch is complete, launch the game

No, wait, where are any of the changes announced in the dev vlog? anyone of them, even a small one, like the color codes? C'mon :/

EDIT: Ah, yeah they were all slotted for May... I thought some of them were to be released in this patch. My bad I guess but I'm still bummed by it.

I know it's a typo but I have to ask, what is a C-SRM 5?

So am I reading the chart right that some weapons will now take up less space in the mech?

Yeeeees. Dual AC/5's with a 40% cooldown quirk baked in on an up-armored arm? My techs are already hard at work!

Also nice tweak to component health. That will help mitigate disintegrating in the face of machine guns a bit.

Yes, but 100% Radar Dep is OP, and those couple skill points make the difference between LRMs being usable, but difficult, to 100% impossible without a dozen NARC beacons to shut down all the overlapping ECM.

I take 0% Radar Dep on principle, and I'm being "given" more than I wanted in the first place. It's honestly irritating.

Rifleman IIC firepower wise is already doing very well, I see no reason to buff that. However the Survival quirks are welcomed.

Well that's a hot new take. So you're complaining that more of the counter to the most complained about mechanic in the game is being handed out, and you don't like it because you want to do worse. Got it.

You can get Target Decay from skills and it stacks with target decay quirks. You can cancel radar dep out easily.

The suggestion that a mechanic that does nothing if you look at your target makes LRMs 100% impossible to use is also incredibly bold Posted Image

Should be the same as first one I assume.
The Skin is unlocked for the entire chassis, all variants (including the variants you have now and you get in the future)
