Hey hey! Congratulations Hayden!

PGI made a smart decision in hiring you! Can't wait to see what you've got in store for us.

More over I can't wait to see your works in the game. Its been a long time coming :D

And now, having said that I shall mourn your departure from this thread :-P

Man, I remember when this started up, never posted any art, but loved everything that was created, been watching from the start.
Congrats on the new gig, I can't imagine anyone who'd do better, who isn't there already.

Great to hear that you got hired Hayden. I look forward to seeing your artwork on upcoming battlemechs (concept art at least).

Thanks for posting and taking the time to make all of the repaints that you have.

Good luck at your new job!

You now see all the artwork there is made by Alex, I'm jealous. Good luck in your new job and don't forget to amaze us like you did before. :)

Congratulations Mark! What a great conclusion to this chapter of your life and a new beginning at PGI for one of the great contributors to the BT universe this past year!

We're proud of you today, and we know for sure you'll make your RCA family proud in return! Thanks for opening Pandora's box for us, and personal thanks for getting me into challenging myself every (almost every) time.

Enjoy the ride, friend. And I do hope to see you in person one day, on the West Coast, near the East one or somewhere ad mari usque ad mare.

Huzza! Great success, Hayden!
But seriously... post some more repaints. :P

No worry, we still got few more artists around here to keep this rolling. Unless Dennis start hiring a few more.

Happy 1 Year Anniversary!

When I started with this repaint thread I never expected it to become as popular as it has. In fact, I can still remember the fear and self-loathing I felt as I put the finishing touches on that very first (very hideous) Marik Militia Atlas that I cranked out so long ago. It was a fear of failure that almost aborted this endeavor before it had even stated.

Quite contrary to my fears, I was shocked with the overwhelmingly positive response (positive enough to lead me to do about 260 more "repaints"). Over time, and with huge thanks to the contributions of a number of brave and artistic minds this thread has taken on a life of its own. Yeah, I got the ball rolling: but the community has kept the momentum. It has become, to my knowledge, the most viewed thread on the forum, and has a number of artistic contributions probably numbering in the thousands and growing.

How things have grown from the little seed planted a year ago.

And I think this is a good time to make an announcement:

I will no longer be posting art here as my new boss Dennis de Koning has forbidden me from releasing any concept art to the public.

ED: got rid of a lot of extra commas :P

You are working at Piranha!!! Congratulations!!!

A girl at school asked me to color the Catapult I was working on purple, and give it a horse decal. She said she might try the game as well when she saw me work on this.

Congrats Hayden!!

Can you tell us what you will be doing? Not specifics, just generally like insignias or concept art.

How did you get the grainy effect for the colors? Also, nice mixtures!

I saw that a while ago. But they wired you, and not for the network specialists, I suppose, that had open positions until now. :D
Looks like you are being hired to work with the textures/camos (at least you are very good with this).

Anyway, I wasn't really serious when I asked you about work in Piranha, which is 7000 miles from my town. 10 years ago, sure, right away. But now, with my own house, wife, kid and 8 cats... it's complicated. (though I will always dream to work in a great game developer house)

Congratulations, Hayden, truly. ;) As Ironhawk so aptly put, we're proud of you.

I can't thank you enough for bravely starting this thread, and sharing your art. I can't thank you enough, either, for inspiring me to be artistically creative again after years of stagnation. I look forward with some trepidation to posting my own repainted creations here in the near future. That wouldn't be so without people like you and the other lovely posters here not only displaying their own works, but kindly assisting others to take steps in doing the same.

Congratulations, and thank you, again. Even if you may be restricted from posting art here, I look forward to seeing your work in whatever form it comes in next. :)

Are there tutorials for Gimp?

I haven't seen any full tutorials, but the post from Adridos here: http://mwomercs.com/...07#entry1234507 gave me a good start.

Earlier in the thread, Hayden made a good post here: http://mwomercs.com/...4774#entry34774 giving details on how to do it in Photoshop CS5. While it doesn't perfectly translate to GIMP, alot of the terminology of mechanics of it are similar, and I still found it helpful.

I don't consider myself competent enough right now to really put any sort of guide together, especially as I'm still figuring it out.

The best advice I can give, at least, is to experiment. :P

Wow so great Hayden! Well deserved! You have inspired so much Kick-bootyness here. I'm very happy for you.

(Raises a Glass)

To the Founder of the Re-Paint Feast! Good luck my friend!
