People will drift away from them because:
1 Most of the missiles miss becaause of terrain or lost lock.
2. More people will eventually be running AMS.
3. When more lights are running around they will get special attention.

I can say: its OP and I'm sure it got a nerf in near future.
Just to clarify: This was yesterday in before open beta reset. So with ASM all around. DHS is just too good for LRM boats even bugged like in moment (no engine DHS)

LRM20 in TT: Range 630m (840 extreme). ~12 damage average.
LRM20 in MWO: Range 1000m (no extreme). ~40 damage.

Don't see any real issues, just love peeking past terrain and lobbing some long-range shots at a missile boat before ducking back and taking no damage.
The only time it's actually troublesome is when I'm in a light mech, trying to fight another light mech. Which is why my Jenner carries a TAG and TAGs the hell out of any light I'm fighting.

LRMs are great for dominating pugs, but experienced groups don't have the same level of difficulty with them.

Yep,
Sure they are effective right now vs trial mechs that don't have AMS, speed, armor, better weapons, etc. That won't be the case for very long.
Does ECM even work yet? I didn't see anything in the notes other than they had put it in as a placeholder.

Yes the first days of open beta will be hard on many, as you have yet to afford to have XL in fast mediums to close the LRMs boats down fast and you prolly do not have your direct sniper support up and running yet, many people without AMS etc.
So yeah at the moment I am also running LRMs a lot. (Mostly because most stocks and founders have them)
But like our pony friend said, this will change soon enough, when we are back in the mechs we used to run.
So yes yesterday I also died to LRMs and got wasted on several occasions, but this will level out very soon, when we are again simply killing off LRMs very easily.

Sorry OP, currently 70% of respondents disagree with you.
If you don't like getting hit by LRM's try one of the following, their all battle tested and proven tactics:
1. Get behind cover.
2. Move outside maximum LRM range
3. Move inside minimum LRM range
4. Buy AMS
5. Out run the LRMs (light mechs only)

Tabletop: LRM = 1 damage/missile SRM = 2 damage/missile
MWO: LRM = 2 damage/missile SRM = 2.5 damage/missile
wtf ?
