Right now you are seeing a lot of LRMs becaause the trial mechs haave aa lot of LRMs. In addition some people realize that few people have put on AMS yet. This will change as time goes on. Missile boats are meat on the table once your within their minimum range of 180. I've already pulled the LRMs from my Founders Cat (just as soon as I had the money) because there are far more effective weapons.

People will drift away from them because:
1 Most of the missiles miss becaause of terrain or lost lock.
2. More people will eventually be running AMS.
3. When more lights are running around they will get special attention.

Well playing with 2x20LRM and 2x15LRM in my awesome I can say LRM is OP. I just made more than 1400 damage as a random without any TAG. DHS in arms help a lot. DHS in engine is not even working in moment!

I can say: its OP and I'm sure it got a nerf in near future.

Just to clarify: This was yesterday in before open beta reset. So with ASM all around. DHS is just too good for LRM boats even bugged like in moment (no engine DHS)

There is absolutely no reason for them to mess with LRMs anymore. They are fine. This thread is obsolete.

Yeah, no reason, none at all... Because Battletech has always been about 1000m AC40s.
LRM20 in TT: Range 630m (840 extreme). ~12 damage average.
LRM20 in MWO: Range 1000m (no extreme). ~40 damage.

What do you do when its raining? You can stand out in the open and get all wet, or . . . you can bring an umbrella (AMS) and take cover behind a building/rock/tunnel etc.

I use LRMs occasionally, and more often I'm the target of them.
Don't see any real issues, just love peeking past terrain and lobbing some long-range shots at a missile boat before ducking back and taking no damage.
The only time it's actually troublesome is when I'm in a light mech, trying to fight another light mech. Which is why my Jenner carries a TAG and TAGs the hell out of any light I'm fighting.

I do think they are, we just made a team of 3 LRM boats and totaly dismantled entire teams, about 40 games 5 losses, due to getting capped...it was utter destruction. On average LRM mechs were passing off about 1200 damage each with 2-3 kills 1 jenner tagging. It was not even a challange :( Averaged about 200K C-Bills per match after ammo and repair.

LRMs are fine. Plus they will be even weaker once ECM comes in. Take cover, break locks, kill there scouts and you will be fine with them as well.

Thing is, LRMs haven't been especially successful in competitive play. Most of the league teams ended up going for direct fire support or brawler builds - the LRM organized groups largely lost out to the non-LRM teams.

LRMs are great for dominating pugs, but experienced groups don't have the same level of difficulty with them.

Yep,

Sure they are effective right now vs trial mechs that don't have AMS, speed, armor, better weapons, etc. That won't be the case for very long.

Does ECM even work yet? I didn't see anything in the notes other than they had put it in as a placeholder.

LRMs are fine.
Yes the first days of open beta will be hard on many, as you have yet to afford to have XL in fast mediums to close the LRMs boats down fast and you prolly do not have your direct sniper support up and running yet, many people without AMS etc.
So yeah at the moment I am also running LRMs a lot. (Mostly because most stocks and founders have them)
But like our pony friend said, this will change soon enough, when we are back in the mechs we used to run.
So yes yesterday I also died to LRMs and got wasted on several occasions, but this will level out very soon, when we are again simply killing off LRMs very easily.

Sorry OP, currently 70% of respondents disagree with you.

If you don't like getting hit by LRM's try one of the following, their all battle tested and proven tactics:
1. Get behind cover.
2. Move outside maximum LRM range
3. Move inside minimum LRM range
4. Buy AMS
5. Out run the LRMs (light mechs only)

Well, LRM vs SRM balance is weird, to put it mildly.

Tabletop: LRM = 1 damage/missile SRM = 2 damage/missile
MWO: LRM = 2 damage/missile SRM = 2.5 damage/missile

wtf ?

Seems about 70% (as of my post) of the players think there fine. Sorry for your luck!
