What are the advantages/disadvantages of opening/closing the bay doors?

Do they open automatically from a closed state when fired?

Do missiles only fire when doors are opened manually?

Is the critical hit chance higher with opened doors?

If they are damaged, can the missiles be fired?

Questions and more questions...

Closed provides protection (I want to say in the range of 10%) but also delays the firing (doors have to open when told to fire before the missiles leave their silos).

A damaged silo can still fire weapons. Currently there is no subsystem damage system (ie, you cannot knock out someone's offensive subsystems to prevent them from attacking)

Whenever I open my missle bay doors on my Founders Cat My FPS drops about 10-12. Goes from a very playable 40 to a less than favorable 25-30. As soon as I close them it returns to normal.

Yeah, it's a small issue compared to everything else. But the yellow/green light for missile doors is almost impossible to discern between colors. Should be easy to fix, a bigger light so more pixles of yellow or green show up should handle it.

I can't say I searched for it but I knew it was in the patch notes. As I looked around I wondered if they really implemented it yet. I guess I have to look carefull next time and find it. oO

Open missile bay doors make your launcher easier to destroy, closed doors offer a little bit of protection.

I'm red-green colorblind, and for me, there is absolutely no difference between the two lights.

Please include at least an option for other lights PGI? I basically have to guess the flaps open/closed state.

i was pressing the button for quite a while before i even noticed the light on my catapult. I could hear a little beep so i knew it was working, but eh add a betty voiceover that says "bay doors opened" "bay doors closed" and it'll be fine (or a HUD message to that effect).

Or make it an Icon instead of a light. Something like |x| for destroyed, =| |= for open and |=| for closed? I assume if you put it somewhere to the lower left where your Armor display is, it won't distract and be still visible.

This indicator should be in the HUD and not just a light in the virtual cockpit. It took me three games of play in my Catapult to figure out where the lights were.

Here's a thought, put it in the HUD along the bottom line where the zoom magnification indicator is. And have it indicate with words the status for the color blind. OPEN (green) / CLOSED (yellow) / ERROR or DESTROYED (red).

As per patch notes:

Mechs with Weapon Bay Doors can toggle the doors open/closed with ‘/’ slash
Catapult and Centurion now have weapon bay door indicator lights in the cockpit. Green for Open, Yellow for Closed, Red for Destroyed.

Anyone know where in the CN9 this indicator is? I've set my FOV as wide as possible and tried toggling the doors repeatedly but I can see no light changes in the cockpit.

As a side note is this actually even working?

I'm not noticing any difference in SRM/LRM launch speed w/ or w/o the doors toggled (though as noted I'm having difficulty verifying the toggle).

In the CN9, there's a liiiiiittle super tiny light on the left-hand cockpit frame, just ever-so-slightly out of view. You have to use freelook to see it, which to me seems super super dumb.

Agreed, I like you have added a new feature, but the fact you can't tell makes very little diffrence.

I am guessing the idea is with the doors open you fire faster but bigger area to take damage?

It doesn't seem to currently work, and been unable to see the light makes it all kinda pointless anyway.

the catapult lights are 2 TINY lights on your vertical cockpit frame they are about 4 pixels wide and halfway roughly up the frame support on either side of your main window..

took me 3 days to find them myself LOL
