Updated for the December 4th patch.

This following trick will make it so that if you fire Weapons Group 6, it will constantly fire for the rest of the match. Simply put TAG into group 6, press 6 one time a match, and there you go, auto-firing TAG.

This is basically a macro that emulates you holding down the 6 key, but it won't spam 6 in chat, or attempt to spam 6 into any text entry outside of MWO.

1. Download this: [redacted]

2. Place the zip file into: C:\Games\Piranha Games\MechWarrior Online\Game

3. Unzip.

4. This created two new folders, [redacted]

That's it, you're done!

For your convenience, I have also included a file call [redacted]. This is a backup of the original file (As last extracted from the December 4th GameData.pak), in case you wish to revert back to it. Simply rename it and get rid of ".bak".

If you found this useful, hook me up with a Like in the bottom right. Posted Image

Thanks!

you shall not touch any file except the user.cfg.

This is a compilation of information from these two threads:

http://mwomercs.com/...-configuration/

http://mwomercs.com/...o-autofire-tag/

I figured a lot of people would miss out on this by not understanding how to create and then edit the required XML file, so I thought I'd try and make a more user-friendly "drag and drop" installation for this tweak.

And this is ok with PGI? I don't wanna get banned for messing with the game files you know?

PGI will likely never sanction downloading files from a third-party and plugging them in your game directory.

At the same time, they probably won't ban you for it if you do.

There's just the matter of liability that comes with community tweaks to game files. They can't be responsible for someone else posting something that might end up breaking your game or, worse, being malicious.

PGI should just make it passive so that it's always on. Just my opinion.

BTW I like the quarter trick.

In a game I used to play (can't remember) you could bind something to the shift key. Hitting caps lock made it a toggle. That would work too.

PGI allows the creation of macros, and is okay with players being able to emulate holding down a specific key (in this case, holding down the 6 key) and emulating a specific series of key presses. Should they change this policy, I expect a mod would let me know, and I'd edit this post.

Oh one last thing.

If this is an "exploit" (lol) then so is taking a fishing weight and putting it on your 6 key while you play.

;)

Can't wait to try it. got tired of holding down one button constantly. Not enabling TAG to be toggled on and off was an oversight that I hope they fix eventually.

works fine. Would be nice if it was possible to toggle it OFF though as well - can be a bit of a giveaway if you are trying to sneak around or run away!

This needs updating as it effectively disables the J key for ECM switching ;)

Makes me really wish I had more mechs with laser slots in the head. Looks like a badass targeting laser coming out of the eye.

If you are in the mood to tinker, Same effect can be had with Autohotkey. If you do not want to mess with the game files, it is an alternative. The Unjam script for the AutoCannon (now redundant)was cleared by PGI, I know that

EDIT
It is generally better to simply rename the xml file to Defaultprofile.bak and then paste in the new one. The search function on this forum is none too friendly.

Easier way- put your TAG on 6, then tape down the key. Takes three seconds if you want it to look good, one if you want it to work :)

Vechs: Thanks for resurrecting this concept. The original posts are getting lost in the 'archives'.

The jury is out on whether PGI will consider this an exploit in the long term. I suppose until they add support for all of the game features in the Options menu, this is the only way (short of macros) to achieve these customizations. Really, this is equivalent to a 'hold button down' macro.

Also a Shout Out to VarietyOfCells who first posted the [redacted] modifications and showed me how to unpack them.

As of December 6th, it's working fine for me.

Are you sure the bug you are experiencing is caused by this tweak and not something else?
