Can we not count Raven 3L's for this and maybe the 3 Streak SRM 2 Commandos? They are just going to dominate the Light 'Mech bracket because of the way SSRM's are now. 100% chance to hit is silly. I don't even pilot Light 'Mechs. I'm a Medium but the Light 'Mech bracket seems really predictable.

Is it possible to change the scoring calculations to be more balanced? If it's based off aggreggiate score...then person who drops more will have higher score than someone who is better but could drop much less because they don't have as much time.

Meaning, person who will win doesn't necessarily mean they are top player. Just means they are decent player who can put in ton of time sink to gather the aggreggiate score points.

For example, if I had siblings or friends who play MWO we could take turns on a same account droppign much as possible to rake the points in.

Play more. That's the solution. And you get 50% more space bucks from doing it in a hero or founder.

this is a bit premature the game is not stable enough to do a thing like this. it would be a good idea when this game is on a final to full open playable status. but now no. i do not suport this idea.

So does playing in a group during the event just not count the grouped matches or does playing in a group even once during the event disqualify a player?

I would like clarification on this as well.

I'm happy they make events like this, and dont shrug off these ideas with: "its still in beta, no events yet".

They could, but they don't. Major props.

I like the idea, but how is it going to work with ELO? Wouldn't it be best to tank your rating before the event so when the even starts you play easier games and inflate your KDR early on? Also what's to stop 4 (or more) players attempting to drop at the same time?

You make some very good points here. In theory players might be able to get solo sync-drops to work and those who choose mechs they did not play during the initial Elo tracking period would be under-rated and would get easier matches to start.

I guess the purpose of this competition is a test of the Elo matchmakig system though it might be more effective if a solo and group competition were running at the same time to get the largest total number of players involved.

Tournaments are great, and I'm sure there will be a good amount of diversity to them over time. And obviously PGI can run whatever they want. But a tournament in which one of the primary--indeed, necessary--factors is my ability to timesink an entire weekend into the game? That does not particularly excite me, even if I had the time to invest and the desire to do so.

Nonetheless, GLHF for those who do.

The swami predicts top 3 lights..

1. a raven 3L
2. a raven 3L
3. a raven 3L

Anyone wanna take a poke at predicting any other classes?

I just hope they will have a long look at the data for which mechs the winners will be relying on to win with. I'm expecting a lot of the builds that are often quoted as unbalanced being way up there in the top.

In theory all the ECM lights should end up in higher difficulty matches. Non ECM lights that were easy kills over the last few weeks will have an Elo score lower than the player skill.

I think this competition will be decided by the most under-rated players who are able to spend the most time in game.

as much as I like the idea I cant help but think that now my four man groups are going to be filled with lone pugs whose only interest is in making their score better than the next guys. can I get to the kill first, can I get the most damage in the group, I guess for the next two days we can expect no cooperation, we can expect mechs charging the enemy and blocking friendly fire with their bodies, we can expect all the bad things that have become so rare to be on full force.

I hope Im wrong but I have seen how the solo players play and im not looking forward to this.

You are not disqualified for playing in groups. Your scores will not count towards the leaderboard challenge if you are grouped.

There are two 'opt in' buttons, I was able to click both of them.

Not sure if you care.. it was just weird.

So clicking the "opt-in" link is all there is to it?

or am I missing something?

I hope it is not a sum total but instead a fancy system that creates an average. They say they will "weigh" a variety of things.

I hope it is a sum total because that would prevent a player that played one match from winning
