I am wondering if

http://mwomercs.com/tournaments

is based accumulated game score or something like that. Because then it would be a lot easier to win on an alt account that can farm 'score' against noobs than an account that is already at the top of the ELO charts. And then its not really about being a hero!

also is this just a lame attempt at fixing elo scores independant of team-related distortions?

The only fair way I see this working is if at the start of the challenge, all the opt in people Elo was reset. Amirite?

Alt account is going to probably not have all their EXP unlocks if you were really worried about it.

From what I can workout, it's accumulative score over the weekend. I opted in, but I still think it would have been better (for me) if it were an averaged score. I'm not going to be able to get in over 100 games like some will. Too easy for it to become quantity over quality the way they are currently doing it.

If it is, it's a smart way to go about it.
Don't ask players to go solo, don't make them, challenge them to do it with shiny prizes.

Cool stuff.

I am not sure if i like that they did the Hero/Founders bonus time in the same timeframe though. Will be suprised if a TDK or PB would get 1-3 in lights or assaults...just sayin.

They just created an incentive for people to tank their elo scores tonight...

I opted in just to see how I would rank. I have nothing to lose but my pride.

Maybe I will combine the two and run my YLW all weekend. Huge CBills and a banner too.

Uh, maybe not.

So the founder and hero mechs get a bonus for Cbills but any mech can be used in the contest? If so I'm not really seeing a reason not to join even if winning is unlikely.

Wait are you posting the internet meme of "an hero" or actually saying that its wrong?
For the meme I don't really see how "an hero" meme fits unless you're talking about people in groups killing their elo by only solo dropping. But that doesn't seem to fit.
For the spelling you only use "an" before a word starting with "h" if the "h" isn't heard but hero doesn't sound like ero. I know some things are different in different countries but I thought that one was the same.

At first, I thought, "Oh, that's cool"... until I realized that the winners won't be those with the best mech skills: The winners will be those with the worst opponents.

There will be people trying to drop their Elo like rocks tonight, just so they can rack up absolutely ludicrous scores against baddies before they find their way to their proper Elo again... at which point they'll have built up an absurd lead, in W/L and battlescore, against those who didn't tank their Elo.

Good luck tanking your score before the event starts.

As a relatively inexperience player, this is going to be considered a rite of passage. Like a hazing ritual, but with lasers.

All I'm saying is, the way they're doing this will greatly benefit those who, for whatever reason, are below their proper Elo at the start of the event.
