In company of heroes we smurfed constantly. Why? Because waiting for 1/2 an hr for a match was boring.

We coined this term. Stats are for noobs. Wed make what we called dirty smurfs.. you a 1-12 accnt, oh man you look bad, then BAM, not only did you have fun wasting some half skilled guy trying to prey on noobs, but you also seriously hurt his rank bc in the eyes of the ranking system, he jsut lost to a total noob.

It will come, its already here. Why do you think I can get top score, or close there to in trial mechs? I guess once you go smurf, you never go back.

Stats ARE for noobs, and you can have them. When it comes time for clan wars, then its time to get serious.

Ask the goons in WoT, where their little empire went. They were erased, despite employing the apex players to try and save them. Just because someone is running around w worse stats than you, doesnt mean they are certainly worse than you. Assumptions are dangerous.

MLP, their golden children, the army of unicums, lost to guys w rating 500 pts lower, and the losses were so bad, the clan disbanded, again. That was alot of lulz.

Point is, its only about stats for stat hoors. Many of us wont care, until we can take something from you that really matters.Your clout in clan wars. I care about 1 in 4 matches.. more or less based on the day. We all define success differently, and for alot of players, its not based on our mwo stats.

The OP is such a waste of space as it has nothing to do with why people are actually complaining about the Elo system.

Please enlighten us then... I must be completely off.

Starting to learn that the forums today consist of 2 types of players

1. Expd mwo players, who padded stats, and cant handle the ELO bestowed upon them.
2. Lone wolves, gloating that group one is getting their just deserts.

Everyone else is jsut too darn busy having fun in MWO, because MWO has graduated in 2 months from lagging team stacking raven spam, to a great game.

These days when I talk in team chat, i get responses and see action, people want to work together, they want to win. If it looks like weve left cap openand i say something, ppl repond. If they have ecm, I have teammates applying counters. I am not sure what elo bracket taht means i am in, but my god, am I loving the night/day change in my mwo experience today. I can't say it enough.

I'm running close to 50/50, just like always. So no real noticeable change for me yet.

Than this post probably does not apply to you. Are you suggesting ELO has had no impact on the current meta? I think alot of other founders would disagree. The complainers at least. I think its changed for the better. Ive noticed a big change. But, I run solo, and my personal experience is my own.

I jsut want those who used to win alot, who win alot less now, who post I am quitting/ELO is broken to understand....

Its not that your a victim of ELO, your a victim of your own prior stat padding.

I mostly run solo as well, and from my point of view, the elo thing hasn't changed things much for me. Perhaps in the future as the stats start filling I'll notice a difference.

Sounds to me like you never padded your stats in 4 mans... I commend you, and am glad you still enjoy the game.

Im not complaining about the 4 mans anymore, now im just bathing in the tears of the ones that only got their high W/L rates because they ran in 4 mans. It is beautiful to see their frustrations spilled out across multiple threads. A good player in a mech of any weight class, will always edge out a bad player in a mech of any weight class. I wouldnt mind an asslt for an asslt, but, im not gonna cry about it either. Chances are one of those will be a trial asslt ran by Johnny McNew Guy anyways.

Can a mod combine this thread w the one above it, or clue me in on how to do so? Sorry. :D

I have dropped with 3 others maybe a half dozen times. When I do team it is with 1-2 others. But probably 75% or more of my matches are solo.

This is a clear summary, that I posted in another thread. I felt it might get buried amongst teh many posts there in, so I decided to turn it into a thread of it's own.

So you are wondering why a week ago you were winning alot, and you and your 3 friends were having so much more fun than you are today?????

Let me break it down for you.

___________________________________________________________________________
You were winning not because of your skill, but rather because the old enviroment allowed you to win by stacking for moderately skilled players, versus completely new players/terrible players.

As such your stats rose.

Now the match maker thinks your good because your stats say so.

This is afallacy. You are not good, nor were you ever. You were jsut ganging up on floundering infants to the world of min/max builds, and focus fire.

Now your getting paired versus lone wolves, that have been going toe to toe with you, as they get paired with the terrible players, for weeks/months. That level of competition has made them good, but they still lost because they had saddle bags (new players) not in 4 mans.

Now the saddle bags are off, and the match maker thinks they are bad because their stats reflect it. So what you get is, good players with bad stats + great players with great stats... versus you, a 4 man that never got any better, due to your soft competition.

As such, you will lose, alot. And, you deserve to. You elevated yourselves beyond your station, and until match maker realizes that you are not that good, ie, until your stats take a considerable hit, and look much worse, it will continue.

You, unable to accept this reality have turned to the forums, to share your tears.

Fortunately, I am here and happy, to break it all down for you.

Enjoy your well deserved losses, you have alot of catching up to do..

Good news: this will be painful, but you will finally begin to get better. It will all even out, your new stats, as you grow and improve. If you cannot improve, than you are forever destined to be BAD @ MECHS.

More good news: You've made my night. Sweet dreams. Enjoy your day of losses tomorrow, if you do not outright uninstall, becuse your pride (inflated) cannot bear the reality, that you are not that good.

_________________________________________________________________________

Now this may seem harsh, but it had to be said. Think if this as your intervention (cue bells) for your misguided opinions on teh meta today.

I'm sorry. The truth can hurt. But its better you hear it from me, than rage quit and go play Hawken. I want to save you. You can reflect on this, as you pick up your boot straps, and adapt/learn/evolve. I believe in you.

Cheers

TL DR? If you like the image below, go back to the top and read the entire post.

I just might print this out and roll around on it naked. Very much correct.

People complain about Elo because it does exactly what it's supposed to.

Try to move you towards a 50/50 win/loss rate based on your skill or an average of the skill of the people in your premade group.

If you're a pug who's been carrying around the short-bus crowd for months you're like a sled dog who's just had 400 lbs removed from his cart. I know my win/loss when pugging is now over 70% and I drop alongside some amazing pug players. Most of my games involve my fellow pugs devouring the other team like gazelle on the Serengeti and it's been GLORIOUS.

If you're a premade who's been getting carried by skilled friends, well, lose a couple hundred games more than you win and it'll settle out. Of course what you'll find is that you're dropped on teams of equally incompetent people who will hamstring you from winning and getting back up the Elo ladder...

GLORIOUS. Delicious tears and challenging gameplay. It's everything you could want in a game.

Nice to know I am not alone. Sometimes on these forums I feel like it is me arguing against 1000, and I fear PGI wil simply say, well 1000 agree so hes wrong.

Thanks for the post, and thanks to those who show i am not a lone voice by liking the opening post. I apprecaite it, and I hope PGI does too. Hope in one hand....

Took your advice... made an alt account and am having a blast with my trial Atlas... Sadly I made it into the upper ELO brackets and all the cheese is starting to show up...

Let me tell you though... You were right about a lot of 4 man pilots being GARBAGE lol. It's a sad sad day when a trial Atlas accounts for 4 of the teams kills, and tops the score board against a 4 man. Lol'z were had.

However now that I am seeing all those optimal builds I am going to let my Elo rating tank and go back to the fun games... Where there is variety, and I can relax, and take off my try hard pants.
