Base armor is utterly irrelevant given that it can be modified freely.

Still, problem will be tonnage... many folks may opt for glass cannon builds to run the kinds of ballistics the Jag will open up. 4 UAC is a dream, but probably not a realistic one.

Still, it would be fun to run a 4 UAC build. The Ilya is already a terror.

Twenty damage every second with no heat concerns will be interesting.

The Jager was set up with 2 ac2, 2 ac5 and 2 medium lasers originally. Now with all the stuff you can do with a mech in this game you can make an UBER long range sniper. My concept is 2 ac2, 2 uac5 with 2 medium lasers, XL engine, endo frame, double heatsinks, beef up the armor then a crap load of ammo. Now with this setup you can snipe a mech at long range, chew up his armor and then IF he is not dead yet let your team mates kill him. Remember this is a team game! Now if PGI decides to take one of the variants and make the arms 1 energy / 1 projectile then all this goes out the window. Then its an erppc with a uac5 in each arm. Call this thing nasty! Think about it.

You can already do dual AC5/AC2 with the CTF 4x, albeit of course you have to expose a lot more with the cataphract due to the low arms.

The difference is dual AC20 ability with fast engines (on the contrary of you can do with the Catapult), but I'm looking forward the JM6-A, with dual UAC5, 4xML, 2xSRM4. It should be possible to do with a XL 280, 5 tons for the uac's, 1 for the srms and 14 DHS.. and be quite of a problem at any range.

I was thinking about same but with xl 255, less UAC ammo,4 MPLas instead of MLas

Hmm consider that with my build you can rack up 14 DHS and have quite of a speed to harass and get back into cover trading only with low armor in the legs (but you shouldn't be exposing those that much either).
With 4 MPLAS and that engine you'll probably have to trade with less agility, much more heat once somebody engages you in short range, suffer ammo shortage (sometimes when I dual wield UAC's I tend to use at least 7 tons, and that build employs already 2 tons less of my standard) and you lose 1 DHS.

Best I could come out (with what you say) with is
Full armor besides 41 in the legs
3 tons UAC5 ammo
1 tons for the dual srm4
4 mplas
Xl 255
13 dhs+endo

Yep, no room for ammo, virtually no other backup weapons and too slow or glass build imho. Fun for sure but 3x UAC seems more reasonable, although the Ilya can do it better (if you've got the MCs of course!)

My planned one is close to yours, but runs a tad hotter for more ammo, and more Alpha.
255XL
Endo
12 DHS
2xUAC5 w/ 5t ammo
2xSRM6 x/2t ammo
4xML

Care will have to be taken on the quad ML and SRM use together, but the UACs can be spammed throughout....Pretty much same firepower and loadout as my D-DC :)

AC20 build will work nicely. However, I will pass on the 4 UAC5s. Trying to get those all firing without having one on cooldown, and not jamming, will be a major PITA. Probably be handled best by a macro, then it might really shine. Otherwise Ill stick with my Ilya. May also run into some speed vs engine vs, weight issues with this build.

I fail to understand why it's important that they by in sync. The main reason the Ilya is the primary platform for UAC isn't that 3 do a lot of damage. 2 can do a lot of damage, too, but most people don't run other mechs with 2. It's the fact that with 3 you can keep firing more consistently, since they won't usually all be jammed at the same time.

I'm hoping with the introduction of the jagermech, they move the K2's ballistic hard points to it's center torso so it's forced to stick to smaller guns like its supposed to. All the dual gauss/ac20 point-click-kill kids would have to move to a cataphract or jagermech, which IMO is way more balanced overall.

Probably wont happen, but I can hope

Not a chance.

2 UAC5's underslung with 2 AC2's. I can see it now, glorious rain of lead.......

Already run my 4X that way. Honestly, I'd have to run the numbers, but I don't think it's realistic with the Jager. I think the reduced tonnage would leave you too shy on ammo to accomplish much.

The 6xAC2 build is flat out impossible. Not that you couldn't fit them, and even fit ammo, but the heat would shut you down so fast you'd accomplish nothing. At 5 tons heavier, the 4X has serious heat issues with only 4 of them. Like the 4xUAC, there will probably be a brief rash of them on release day, and an occasional noob later on, thinking he's being original, but no one will keep them for more than laughs.

Yeah it's a variation (quite a punch too :)), I always tend to prefer a little bit more mobility/user friendliness and the tighter spread of the srm4s. I must admit the JM6-A is the only variant I'm probably being interested in, it should be highly multipurpose (dual AC 20, dual gauss both with several energy backups).. the others look to be too limited to too many ballistics, and I don't look forward multiple mid to small ac's.

Im still hoping for X6 ballistic slots in the arms so I can go X12 (or more) MG's with XL engine and be a nuisance.

I figure I would use the JM6-S for my AC20 build, as I don't run 'Pults...The JM6-A as my CTF-2X replacement for fun factor (bored with phracts lately) and absolutely no idea what to do with the JM6-DD...Hopepefully they'll give it something special, because unless you love machine guns with not enough hardpoints for decent DPS or Burst...I just don't see a use for it.

Good thing the Be a Hero Tourney left me rolling in C-Bills so I can buy and deck-out at launch ;)

Hmm can't figure out anything more than dual AC20 + 2 ML and XL 280 (endo, 10 DHS, 6 tons of ammo for the acs) or a pretty limited quad AC5 (xl 255, 6 tons of ammunition, 10 DHS, ENDO and lots of armor shredded here and there) for the DD me either. Or dual UAC5 and dual AC2 (xl 265, 5 tons for Uac 2 for ac2 endo 10 DHS hot as hell). I'll go dual AC20 just to exp the basics out of it and sell.

Yeah, and that was my point..literally anything realistic can be done with the -S or -A...realistically, not much point to the -S either other than fluff. I can't see any reason at all for the -DD.

We'll see...I had high hopes for it, but I just don't see its potential (other than the funfactor -A build we both like...)
My analysis from a few weeks ago is here...

Random trivia of the day: The canon stock K2 doesn't have machine guns.... it has jump jets.

(The mech in MWO is actually the K3.)

saw that post (and replied 1 or two post below) ;)

I initially screwed the Jager in general but after taking it into consideration.. uh well I have the money, I already have practically everything else that I like therefore I'll take the Jagers as well.

The mechs I'm truly looking forward are Highlanders and Orions.. then I hope to put my dirty hands on some clan things :)

Back IT I'll still keep k2 Gausspult builds, it's just too fun to dual wield GRs in there, you can be super accurate without getting mad with weapon convergence on the arms like what happens on the Ilya.

I wonder how having pitch-only capable arms on the Jager is going to improve a dual GR setup.

Er... nope.

That said, I've been an advocate for a long while of moving the K2 MG ports to the CT once the JM6 comes in. Until now it has been useful for testing purposes. With the JM6 and the CTF ballistic boats, the K-2 as ballistic boat ought to disappear gracefully.

Is the Timber Wolf's MGs in the CT or side Torsos?

One is in CT, another in RT. According to TRO3050, third print.

Edit: seems to be the same in CityTech rulebook and MW2 manual too.

K2 has it's canon MG's in side torsos though, atleast in official Record Sheets made by Fasa.
