So, since those are the facts, you accept full responsibility for your own negligence?

I accepted long ago that I was negligent in reading the website for 3 days while continuing to play the game.

I can understand your frustration. The MC resets were the best about the beta IMHO.
And when I read that PGI will stop them because "The players do not want to lose their progress."
I was sure it was just a sorry excuse for "We want your moneyz!"

But they did state that there will be a final reset when open beta hits. I've read it on the forums repedetly.
It's been discussed in threads, been written in the patch notes, and emailed to me. So I am sure they have sent it automatically to all accounts, so there is no reason to believe you didn't get one.

You're absolutely right, the best part of this game was when they repeatedly removed the need to think about any purchase and have all your bad decisions undone once a fortnight. The very idea that PGI might want to sell MC in order to pay for further development and to pay it's staff is indeed a sorry excuse.

So does that make this a real display or a carefully orchestrated performance of one? Either way it's entertaining.

No idea what a puppetmaster defense even is supposed to mean. I don't live on video game forums. I doubt someone would be flagged "legendary founder" and no significant forum history just to invent a troll account, either.

Call me dumb all you want. I bought the game, it was not obvious for a few days when resets would cease, no email was sent but some website said it was coming in 18 days.. but 3 days later it happend. I never checked a website or read an email or whatever for 3 days and got caught by an intentionally obscure strategy to fleece me for a few bucks.

Surprise. Happens every day At this point I just keep scrolldown trying to find the end of the replies and I occassionally respond to a few and I am finding it more fun than the game every was.

WELCOME TO OPEN BETA!

We have now opened the floodgates to the general public to join us in our journey to get MechWarrior Online to a state where we can launch the title officially.

That being said, everyone who is currently playing in the Beta should have noticed the following:
  • All MC for Founders and players who had purchased MC, has all been reset and refunded to base amounts.
  • All Mechs have been removed from your inventories with the exception of those in the Founder's Program.
  • All XP, GXP, C-Bills have been reset to 0.
  • All unlocked Efficiencies and Modules.
Please take careful note of the following:
  • This was the FINAL wipe. No more resets.
  • Any MC you purchase or spend, will be final. There will no longer be MC resets so what you spend is gone forever.

If your tone towards their support, when explaining you missed ALL notifications of Open Beta starting and thus resets stopping, was the same as you show here, then for me it's no wonder they washed you off with a "You've been informed. Tough luck. Not our problem."

Wether you like it or not and wether you think it is ethical or not. They have done their part on legal terms to inform everyone about what's to come. For instance you keep repeating that they didn't anounce it in the launcher. Which they did. And I am very sure the "We're in open beta" Banner was there for at least a week and thus also on November 2nd when you chose to put all your MC into whatever. So IF they are refunding you it's pure good will and not something you have any right demanding (at least legaly as I said). So realizing that the support person you are dealing with is a human being and thus staying polite would have brought you miles.

As stated they did a poor design to "milk people" by informing everyone up front with what they were doing and warning them multiple times. It would take a special level of incompetence to make that mistake.

In case you didn't notice, not everyone has 4 hours a day to read all the volumes of poorly organized information this company had on the website at the time; nor did I have a matter of days to find it before all this occurred.

"After we go to Open Beta there will be no more resets." was stated over and over and over and over again. It was really hard not to see the information. My friends who only logged in once, maybe twice a month and NEVER read the forums or E-mails saw the Open Beta tag and before spending a bit of MC stopped and asked other people about it and/or hopped on the forums to see what Open Beta meant.

Clearly the facts are unclear to half the people deciding to merely repond with vitriol.

Some of us were fairly nice given the tone of the OP but then have stopped trying to be nice when you have insulted everyone who responded to you.

It is simple.

If everyone else didn't have the problem, but you did, the problem likely isn't everyone else.

Six pages and the fool of an OP is still trying to desperately defend his decision.

Please do go on. Not one post is on your side OP.
most would realise heir stupidity and move on, leaving this thread to be buried and yet no, he proves he's even denser and keeps trying to justify his mistake.

Bwahaha. Thanks OP you've made me laugh at work. Keep going cos we need a gag thread.

Lastly I'd hate to do business with someone that doesn't check their emails - but then blames their own mistake on some other error. You'd have been fired a long time ago under me.
Not cos you made a mistake, it's cos you still can't see who was to blame while shifting responsibility elsewhere.

I just also happened to tutor Logics in college. I was asked by my instructor to do so.

The lack of logic is not on my side.

PGI has stated multiple times prior to Open Beta that after Open Beta they would not refund MC. The game went into Open Beta and at that time the labeling and look of MWO changed. The obvious conclusion is that MC will not be refunded.

If you came to a different conclusion then you were not using logic.

The key facts everyone chooses to skip during their vitriolic rants is:
- The date of purchase being a few days before the quoted news item (or claimed email) before Open Beta that stated Open Beta meant no resets.
- The fact that a new player with days might not assimilate in a poorly organized website the specified detail regarding resets.
- The fact that it was apparently 3 days later than the sudden open beta (not 18 days) went live and would require someone to have figured all this out in that small window.

Most people who just default to assuming everyone else is stupid are usually only doing it for the plain fact that they are the stupid ones.

No one is assuming everyone else is stupid. The assumption being made is that you, specifically, are being stupid about this. Everyone understands your points, they just think they're stupid. There has not been a clamoring of people shouting about PGI's unfair business practices in this regard demanding refunds and stomping off into the wilderness to throw their money at Hawken instead. It's just you.

And? October 29 vs October 26 being 3 days vs 18 days in the initial estimate, in tandem with the purchase date all being in such a short window have already been cited as basic facts. This changes... that I additionally played a game without reading the patch notes? Wow. Criminal of me.

Bingo!

That was the first post to actually answer the question posted in the initial statement I made; hence my point regarding people just insulting, calling other's stupid, and all that other nonsense.

A few level heads are out their amidst it all; but unfortunately I'm just replying without reading the names. Findit it humorous someone actually finally answered the question.

I didn't get the email. I didn't read the website/patch notes. It wasn't made clear at login.

I think I only spent like 2000 MC out of 20,000. The impact on me isn't really all that huge. It's the fact their intent was quiet clear and underhanded.

Regardless, it's clear my inquiry regarding if anyone else noticed or felt the same way is obvious; Noone cares. I just have found much entertainment from the droves of fanboys and forum warriors who came out to immediately insult and rant and rave rather than... read anything.

Fun stuff.

So, please understand; my reading comprehension is very low in my household. You nailed that one of the head. I am exposed but am learning to live with my shame.

Given my learning disability, help me out. No time to read anything, got it. How should PGI have informed you of this situation prior to you hitting the button to spend MC?
