Here are the three behaviours on my part that caused me to spend MC on Nov 2nd without knowing "Open Beta" meant "no more resets one we're just Open".

1. Not reading my email for 3-4 days (assuming they even sent one; I didn't receive one.)
2. Not checking a website or forum for 3-4 days.
3. Loging into a game and not reading the patch notes after a patch one day (when they could have typed it on the launcher screen that there were no more resets.)

That about covers it. Pretty simple. Apparently, I am a raging stupid moron for this behavior. What a fool I am!

How would you know about Resets?

Welcome to the internet; where the uberz hate the noobz.

Last time I checked people behaving like you do right now get a lot of hate in the real world aswell.

Maybe I will email my phone provider that I want a refund on last years bills because I did not read their letters notifying me of the increased price. Then after they denied me that refund (which sure they will) I run to their main office with a mgaphone accusing them of having scammed me, which I am sure will help my case a lot.

I mean seriously. All I want to do is phnoe my friends from time to time. Does that mean I have to put up with all the crap they keep sending me month after month?

[/sarcasm]

This is actually the point of contention most of us have with your post. Their intent to mislead is not clear. I say this because they announced it dozens of times, and reiterated it again after the fact. They were very clear in their intent to let people know this was happening so they wouldn't spend their MC on foolish purchases. This is the opposite of the intent you are attributing to them. This is the confusion. Why do you keep stating they were malicious in this when they were obviously and logically the opposite and your situation was simply you not being observant and not them maliciously obfuscating the facts.

I bet this guy sues in RL about every little thing.. just feels like a lawyer to me...
well, or just a whiny little *****

The date of what purchase? I assume you just purchased your founders package a few days before the email and news went out. Correct me if otherwise. So you must have gotten that email and had acces to the forums plus a working game launcher on which all those news were also linked.

Fair point, the forums were a mess back then. On the other hand there are search functions. And threads asking about the resets where litterally popping up every other hour in every other subforum. Even for someone new to the forums: If he gathered that there were MC resets during beta he had a hard time not gathering that resets would stop come open beta.

Again you aren't precise. What was 3 days later than the open beta start?? I am again assuming that this was when you went ahead and spent ALL your MC. So you noticed a BIG patch that day didn't you? The patchnotes for that patch also stated very clearly that NO MORE resets would happen from here on in. After that patch your Launcher would say: "Hey DUDE. Guess what? We're in open beta now!"

As I already said earlier and as you admitted. The fault is on your side only for ignoring just about ALL ways of communicting information to you PGI had at hand. You do not read emails. You do not read patchnotes, when a patch is downloaded by your launcher. You do not pay attention to your launcher. I bet you also wouldn't have answered the phone because of an unknown caller calling.

PGI used ALL means they had to inform you thus did all they had to do legally. There's no scam in there. Not refunding you now, almost 4 months later, is no scam either. It may be bad customer care, but that depends on how you approached them.

"You could have searched"
When every other game in the world doesn't treat "Open Beta" like "Full Opening" in regards to expenditures, why would I randomly pop in and do a search for that bit of information?

"You had access to..."
"the forums" Apparently, the fact I did not read these forums you state "were a mess" or had easily understandable data present to them is why I am so foolish.
"a launcher" That is my point. The launcher did not refer to "Open Beta" == "FInal reset of MC". I don't even recall if the launcher had the Patch Notes linked in it; if it did, I did not read the patch notes and just logged in and played the game expecting it to be.. Beta.

"3 days"
MechWarrior Online told me that on October 26th they emailed me and posted a new article (http://mwomercs.com/...ck-on-open-beta) which stated in approximately 18 days they would go "Open Beta and this meant no more rests". Read the link yourself. 3 days later, Open Beta occurred. Hence; whether I got the email or not.. I did not read my email or check the website for 3 days to be aware that Open Beta mean "no more resets" when I logged into the launcher to see it say "Open Beta".

Berate me all you want for buying a game that was "Beta" that a two weeks later progressed to "Open Beta" and I did not spend the time reading all the forums and other posts to be aware of the odd fact that they would no longer rest MC once they "Opened for Non-Beta". I'm just a silly person.

Maybe you should reread your thread title and opening post. It's not your mistakes from the past that makes people hostile towards you. It's you accusing PGI of having scammed you when they have not. They simply refused to show goodwill and make up for a mistake that was on your end. That might be bad customer care. But it surely is not a scam.

Three to four days?!?!?! They were telling people about no more resets after open beta for months.... If you didnt read the giant letters in the launcher saying its now open beta, thats your own fault dude.
Again, you arent saying how they should have informed you..... Must be trolling.

After my purchase of the game, October 26th was the first notice they made of "Open Beta being the last reset". Otherwise, in that 2 week period it was not made obvious in the casual reading after purchase of the game. Otherwise, their October 26th notice said "about 18 days till Open Beta" and it was in fact 3 days.

Hence, I did not check the website/email for 3 days, I played the game, and it didn't make it obvious in the launcher or usage of MC in the interface.

Pretty simple situation. Rather absurd it's so difficult to understand.

Well I wouldn't put it that way but you would think someone who invests money into something would pay enough attention to their investment, in order to not waste the invested money.

No, you are being insulted for being a jerk in this post and trying to pass your own mistakes off as malicious intent by another person or organization. Your incompetence does not equal malicious intent by PGI.

How many games have you played where the end of Beta did not involve a reset?

Of those, how many obfuscated the fact to casual gamers?

Pretty much anyone who's even replied to this in it's very short lifespan is, by definiton, not a casual gamer. :D

If anything, PGI should give you your MC back, as well as reset your account back to zero. Just the founders mechs you started with, nothing else, no xp, no unlocks. They'd probably do that for you if you asked nicely. But after this thread? yeah right.

I love how after several comments saying it was in fact on the launcher he stopped trying to claim it wasn't... and instead ignores those comments. Trust me when I say this: If they were even remotely negligent with this, the forum would have blown up with threads of "RAGE DEMAND MONEY NOW!!!". The fact that your post is alone, and that you are the only one arguing your side... should tell you something.

P.S. Did you happen to sue McDonalds in the mid 90s over some coffee by chance?

I'm not really worried about the money. Just wether I can trust to give the company more money when they did what they did.

irrelevant. "all of those other games" arent this one. You were warned for months, and there were posts on the forums about it for months.

YOU messed up and YOU need to deal with that, not blame everyone else and their mother like some spoiled little child.

I'm not bitching about it now. I posted the initial entry when I was pissed off.

Since then, I am just scrolling down to read the bottom.. but the bottom never ends.. and I reply on occassion at my observations of the responses.
